  • Two RCMP cadets fainted as Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was giving a speech in Regina on March 9. Trudeau was naming Brenda Lucki as the RCMP’s first permanent female commissioner. During the speech at the RCMP Heritage Centre in Regina, two cadets standing behind the podium could be seen falling over during the announcement.

During parade, while standing, move your toes around for blood circulation, so that u won't faint so easily. The second woman who fell just now was still ok, nothing serious. Good observation. I've done regimental parades. 1200 men in like 8 companies. French Foreign Legion. You could have a two hour parade like this and nobody faints. It happens but still rare. For like 25-30 people. 2 people fainting is absurdly high. Western people are weak and cant even stand up straight for a couple hours, I know. I'm western too, born and raised in Canada. I was the weakest and suffered the most in basic training. In my basic training of 55 men first week 5 French men of 7 asked and returned home. Of the two that completed the training, only one finished the 5 year contract. The other deserted. 30 went to régiment at the end of instruction. Myself included to the infantry. Of all the anglaphones I did instruction with; 1 American, 1 Irishman, 1 South African, 1 Englishman (ex marine commando), 1 German, 1 Canadian (myself, the worst of the lot). I was the only one that completed the contract and honourably discharged. Ever man from the developed countries deserted from my recruit class. Maybe a dozen of the beginning 55 man basic training class actually completed the 5 year contract. "No Mercy/ merci in the Legion" -Foreign Legion Infantry Corporal 2013-2018.

This is very common. Standing in one spot like this for long periods of time is a skill noone outside the military/police ever talks about. It's very easy to screw it up and faceplant. Through cadets and my career in the military I saw countless people either pass out or drop to their knee to be escorted off the parade square. The worst I ever saw was in air cadets, a girl right in front of me thundered in so hard she broke her jaw and bit her tongue in half. She didn't collapse, she tipped forward like a falling tree. I'll never forget it.

We were kids though, they were kind enough to tell us to get a flight seargents or warrent officers attention and you could have a seat until you felt better. But barely anyone ever did.
    Several cadets passed out.

When you see someone swaying like that, and look like they're about to faint, wrap your arms around their waist to catch them from hitting their head and assist them to the ground .
