When you plug your headphones into the outlet on the front of the mixer the cue knobs control everything that comes out of that channel. There are only 2 so its pretty simple (that’s why I actually really like the mixer), one of them is just volume to the headphones and the second one controls the balance of each channel to the headphones (e.g. if you turn it all the way to the left, you only hear channel 1 , if you have it in the middle you can hear what your playing on both channels at the same time. My speakers work slightly differently to what most people have these days I think. Because they're quite old they're powered by a stereo which is quite useful because it has 4 different inputs which you can then select which one is monitored by the speakers. For that I use RCA cables out of the mixer straight into the stereo. If you've got speakers which are active (powered by themselves) you can buy RCA to 1/4 inch cables which you'll plug directly from the mixer outputs into the back of the speakers.

You had a numark m101 mixer can you please tell me what the cue knobs do on that mixer ?
