    I had the same issue on my 2019 1500 Limited. I could not get the temperature below 52 degrees on the diver's side until I installed the ball valve on the heater core line. Now I get 42.6 degrees out of the driver's vent. The passenger vent was always okay, about 44 degrees. Before I did this, I took the truck to two different dealers and complained. One of them pulled the gas out of the system and recharged it to factory specs. It really didn't help because the real root of the problem is the heat from the heater core is infiltrating the duct for the A/C. Once the heat is removed from the equation, it works as one would expect. The other dealer said it was normal so go away. The other thing I noticed at the dealerships, is they act like I was the first one to complain about the A/C. They had not heard of any other problems with the A/C in other trucks. Rule number one, dealers lie.

    I just purchased a 2020 Dodge Ram 1500. My trucks has no more than 200 miles on it. All those miles I have driven have been to the dealership to complain about my A/C unit. I've followed up with the manufacturer as well to submit my case. The first time I went they said it was blowing as it should. Basically stating they did all the test necessary. I drove the truck down the road about 10 min and almost had a heat stroke. I returned the truck immediately. They did another test on the truck. Which is a test they should've done the first time ... a A/C test whoaaaaaaaaa. The truck FAILED the A/C. (Comes back to get truck again after they supposedly fix it) Truck's A/C still sucks. It's like you must have the vent directly on you to feel anything. For myself I do not ride with the A/C directly on me. Even though air is moving on my left and right the cabin is still hot. I've tested this A/C in the middle of Augusta, GA heat and at night time. Same thing happens. Sorry for the lengthy review.

    Though I would give you an update. As I have stated I purchased a 2019 RAM HD Limited. The AC was not acceptable during the summer heat. Dealer checked it twice, reached out to Rod Romain Chief Engineer of RAM HD he responded and flew an engineer down to look at my truck. After a week I had a conference call with the Engineer and Dealer and they said it was working as designed. I told them I would not keep the truck they said ok. They were polite and I appreciated all RAM did especially to Rod Romain who was very responsive. As a result I sold the truck and recovered as much as I could. Well to continue...A week later RAM engineering contacted the dealer/me and said "We realize there is a problem with the AC we have a new part and firmware we want to install. It was not a documented part number I assume it will be. I told them I had already sold the truck and Rod personally apologized again I did appreciate his support. I don't know if this part and firmware will actually fix the AC but it show progress and maybe it will help. Thought you might want to know you may be able to reference this to help. By the way we went and test drove the GMC HD and you are right the AC in 5 min on a hot day was ice cold and the ride was very comfortable. I still think the RAM truck is great but will probably get one of the GMCs.

      Thank you so much for the update. I may reach out to my dealer and see if they've heard about any updates. On a side note, I went and looked at some GMC HDs today as well. The 2500s have a lot of payload compared to the ram. The 2500 SLT I looked at had almost 3200lbs of payload.

      @@whateverfits1978 Did you ever figure out if there was an update for the A/C?
      I recently went to the dealer, they didn't bring up any update on this. I brought this up to my brother in law and he works at Chrysler dealership and he didn't hear anything about an A/C update. They stated they would do a refrigerant vacuum and refill, I told him being an HVAC before that wouldn't do anything to solve the issue. It's either the flap door not closing fully or they needed a valve to stop the high flow from the heater core. I did add some freon to my truck and it did get a little bit cooler, made sure I was within range (Pressure) according the temps outside when I filled it. Regardless, they need a resolution so if you got any update. I sure will appreciate it!

      @@joe2bear I have the 2019 1500 and I put a ball valve in the heater hose line so I can close it in the summer. The A/C works much better. In 78 degree outside temperature, it took the temp from 51 degrees to 42.4 degrees. Little worried about letting Ram see the mod due to warranty concerns. @@stevel.5737 There has been a bypass on the Cummins that a few have done. However, I wouldn't recommend it on the Cummins. If you trace the heater line, it goes back into the engine. Not sure what purpose it serves but I wouldn't risk taking coolant out of the engine. I believe that Hemi trick works, but still haven't had any concrete proof doing this on the Cummins wouldn't cause issues later down the line.

Lowest i could get is 60 so cab temp wouldnt go below 86. if i turned off recirculate the vent air temp would rise above 70. Checked my sons chevy and wifes honda same time vent air temped at 39-40 in 5 min. My new truck is now at the dealer and i have a ram case number after contacting ram and rep who talked with the service rep. The rep agreed those temps were not acceptable. I told then if they cant get those temps down to the 40 level im returning the truck and will file a lemon law against them. i really do like the truck everything else is amazing but this is a deal breaker.

    I have bought new and traded in ram 3500 trucks 2004-2006-2011-2015-2019 Laramie /limited trucks. I was original and only owner of these trucks. Like you say the 2019 air conditioner temp is not as cold out of the vent,I felt that the day I purchased it on the lot. So to remain cool enough on a 90 degree F day I have to run it at full fan speed on recycle vent while shopping in town. What do the engineer / designers think ? Ohh maybe the driver/ passengers/babies/children will get hypothermia if we have it too cold!!! Or maybe it’s some other green philosophy. One thing is it is using 134a refrigerant still like the previous models. Dealer feedback was that it is not known that there is any issue with it. One thing I do own some heavy equipment 2006/2011 and on two of the excavators the coolest settings are at 60 degrees F instead of low max ,these also not really cold on hot days with it on cab recycle. Windows closed ,These I also had bought new and original owner and they are at the proper refrigerant amount using r134a . Like the wise old farmers say “ if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” I wish these people would keep this in mind with this constant upgrade mentality of course innovation is good if tempered with common sense.👽

The Fords have been much cooler by far. I love everything about the Ram except the AC. We thought it was the truck we rented. But as we tried others, it did the same thing. If we are traveling some place mild or cool, we ask for a Ram. But if we go some place hot, we will opt for a Ford every time. We eventually will buy a truck, but if Dodge doesn't figure this out, no way am I going that direction.

    I originally wanted a gladiator but at my height decided to go with the ram and I read on the gladiator/wrangler JL forums that the ac systems blow warm air due to a blend door not shutting fully. It’s probably the same part they use in the Rams since A lot of the interior controls and interfaces are all used throughout. Brisket products.

      @whateverfits1978  Před 4 lety +1

      Thanks! I am going to do a video as soon as the weather gets a little nicer here about my thoughts on the truck. 13k miles so far. Long story short other than a few quality issues that the dealer fixed, the AC is my only concern. Since it has been cold, it's not as noticeable. One thing I have noticed about the GM design is wind noise. I don't think it is as aerodynamic as the RAM. At 70, there seems to bee a lot more wind noise in the GMC vs. the Ram and that's comparing a 1500 gmc to a 3500 ram which sites way higher. My biggest complaint about the GMC is the way the fender flares and built in bed steps look. They look cheap. If you get them painted they look pretty good, but for $80k, I shouldn't have to paint them. I honestly think the GM has a rougher ride. I test drove a 2500 and it rode way rougher than my ram dually. Granted, they had the tire pressure cranked up at the dealer, but even the GMC 1500's ride isn't much better than my 3500 and no where near a ram 1500. I'll try to add some more info in an upcoming video.

It doesn’t blow as cold as I like but after running on max ac with the fan all the way up, I had to turn the fan speed down after about 15 minutes. This was after the truck had sat outside all day in the sun. So, it gets cold enough eventually. It honestly feels like it is doing better than when I made this video, but it’s still not great.Based on what I’ve read on forums, it doesn’t appear that Ram is acknowledging a problem. So, there doesn’t appear to be a fix in the works. So, it’s either deal with it or get another truck.

      To my knowledge, there is not fix or even an acknowledgement of a problem.

      @@brucebentley298 Sounds like you know more than I do about AC systems. I just know mine isn't as cold as I'd like...☺️

    It is not just you. My 2019 ram bighorn can not get the cab to a comfy temperature at idle or constant driving below 30MPH in outside temps higher then 80. My dealer said my AC was under charged and said it was fine. It was and is not fine. It is uncomfortable to drive in city. I call it bad engineering.
