If Southgate could play 11 goalkeepers, he would.
Lmao
If you tell Southgate if he plays this lineup, he would win. He would still play his same old lineup.

Macca talking complete sense here. England are by far the most boring, careful, conservative team and is this a direct result of the manager's personality.
Well said by Manaman.
Both the coach and the players are slow.
Batman, Aquaman, Spider man and Manaman.
He wants walker at leftback who is also right footed but it is fine because he is quick😂😂😂.
@paulorganisation1 I see you copy pasted this same response under another comment...
Walker is much, much faster than Trippier, so Walker can make up for mistakes whereas Trippier is drowning on the left.
It's not hard to understand Paul...well, maybe for people like you
Stevie M is bang on.
Very
He wants walker at leftback who is also right footed but it is fine because he is quick😂😂😂.
@paulorganisation1 meaning. Kyle walker can't play any worse than trippier, Trent can only play on the right as we all know.
England has no leftback(fit). Unless Southgate plays saka as a LB.
@@paulorganisation1 If you look at the heat map, you would have seen that Trippier was in a more advanced position, compared to Walker. If you switched that around and played Trent at right back, it may be more effective. The only cross that Trippier hit with his left foot led to the disallowed goal, so arguably it would be better to have a quality crosser in Trent on the right and a solid defender that can't cross on the left, in Walker.
@@husseinkanteh2084 One of our full backs should be more of a ball player, so Trips or TAA on the right. We don't have a left back so whoever plays they will be hampered.
It’s simple. If a team plays with fear , over thinks and becomes too concerned about losing then it WILL affect them. It will affect the tactics , the shape and then because it doesn’t work it then leads to even more negativity. Confidence then drains out of the players and the whole thing starts to unravel.
I mean, I could tell a team to press high
The trick to earning 5 million a quid a year, is knowing how to actually get a team to play a certain way
Yeah, the players have to be coached into doing it. No wonder they look lost and confused if they’re being told to press high without any proper instruction of how.
@attila2246 Their international footballers and don't have to be coached how to press high, lol.
@@matt7matt722 but they all play for different systems jude play for real madrid, foden for city, kane for bayern, Saka for arsenal and they all play in different systems. If you just tell them to just press high they'll do it in the way they do it for their clubs and that's why Foden always leaves his side because he plays in the same position that jude does the players are doing what the manager says but how to do it? Is the managers job and if a manager can't tell that to his players then Leave football before the football leaves you
They really shouldn’t have to be coached heavily to press high at that level.
“This is how the opponent play, when the ball goes to x, or we have the opposition boxed in, press high and engage. We need to press together and all go when x triggers to press.”
Beyond that they shouldn’t need their hands holding. We’re in a system where the players should be pretty comfortable understanding when and how to press too, it isn’t rocket science with how we’re set up. The same goes for our attacking play - we’ve actually created space on a few occasions where a pass through the lines or a one touch pass would get us going forwards with our key players in good areas, the players haven’t wanted to take a risk. A lot of that is down to the players; they will be taking those risks in training. I’m a massive fan of Walker and I think Trippier is a good player, but their passing has been so poor. The amount of times against Slovakia where Walker either gave the ball away or was sloppy, meaning the next pass had to go backwards was criminal.
There’s a lot of talk about Trent, personnel etc. but ultimately these players need to be braver and show more quality. Trent was also poor off the bench against Slovenia in the group stage, his passing was sloppy, particularly in his own half, and his positioning was a little suspect on occasion. That will have put some doubt in the manager’s mind.
@mrpk1719 It's not worth you mentioning all the different teams that they play for because it just doesn't matter.
These are elite level international footballers that your're talking about. Who play for top clubs and have come through academy systems. They know exactly what pressing is and how to press. So you need to stop talking about them as if they are you and your mates in the local park.
How and when you want them to press can be discussed.
The current problem could lye more in the personnel, shape or even fatigue.
That emotional rant about Southgate and football was also unnecessary and nothing to do with trying to win a game of football.
Macca is right on the money ESPN SHOULD HIRE HIM

I don't see Palmer, Eze or Toney starting
England are too ugly to watch !
They won't.
Coz Southgate is a mediocre coach
@@faithmukusa8253and that’s being generous. He is atrocious.
Neither Gordon, since Southgate hates people's opinions about starting a balanced team
Bellingham played as a 6 or 8 at Dortmund and as a box crashing false 9 at Madrid
He isn't a 10 and never has been - he doesn't have the first touch, passing and vision for that talisman position

England should drop Foden and Saka and bring in Palmer and Gordon.
He played palmer last game what did he do

Will Southgate use real tactics in a game before gta 6?
Most of these English players are average, they get credit at their clubs which they don’t deserve. Rodri is the most important player for city and he’s been the best player in the epl but it’s gone to Foden, in Arsenal it’s Saka and Odegaard but all we here is how good Rive and Saka are. If all these players are world class, for godsake they don’t need pep or Ancelotti to hammer Slovenia and Serbia. Stop putting all the blame on Southgate and blame your average players.

I've said it before, I will say it again, Foden is too slow and ponderous to be a success at international level. He should not be in the team. Against Slovenia, when Trent came on at right back and Walker went to the left, England looked better balanced. And yet, Southgate picked the same back line against Slovakia as if he never noticed the difference....

Getting tired of inverted wingers. there's nothing harder to defend than a square ball or cross when moving towards your own goal, and England, who literally invented that style of play don't do it. They scored both goals from flick ons, so I really don't get it.
Good point this
Woow frank has said everything what English media don't want to say
Southgate has this luxurious job of having an allstar team comprised of best players of entire nation to run. It's not enough to send them out there in a pragmatic 4-2-3-1 and rely on their individual quality to win the match. This kind of approach almost put them out in round of 16 against solid Slovakia. Swiss are well drilled and very good in every position, better quality of talent than Slovakia. They've scored in every match they've played this Euro and play as a unit. Switzerland are the favourites
Southgate struggles with which way to brush and part his receding hairline let alone which team to pick🙄
Shave it all off like a proper bloke Gareth!!!
Trippier is the main fault for England's lack of penetration and attacking mentality. He keeps turning backwards and wants to get onto his right foot. He won't take on the defender and slows everything down.
With no left wing to utilise, the whole game is condensed.
Lets be real even if england did manage to win the tournament the english fans and media would still find something to whinge and complain about
Yep all a bunch of sooks
Did Macca almost use the f word a couple of times? Guess not but he sure sounded frustrated. Good to see such high level former players on the show (other than Franck and Jurgen of course). Going with back 3 to match Switzerland's formation may work, provided players have trained this system beforehand in training.
The only change southgate will make is the seat he flew to Germany in because England going home Saturday
Southgate will change nothing.
He has been in charge for 6 years and England have played the same way for six years.
That way is to keep a clean sheet and pinch a goal.
You could give him Messi and Ronaldo in their prime and he would still play the same way.
If England play the same way as they have done during the tournament they will lose to Switzerland by two to three goals.
Bald Leoberf not only doesn't have hair, he doesn't have eyes as well. I hope Gareth picks Palmer and then they understand when Palmer flops not because of Palmer but not getting enough of the ball.
Back three Gomez for Guehi, Saka left wing back, Trent right wingback. Nobody except Trippier gets dropped.
So Walker plays CB then, or what? Or are you playing no left or right winger and having two AMC's? Where do you play Mainoo, Bellingham, Foden and Rice? You are still going through the middle and haven't fixed any problems. It's not going to work unless you can get behind the opposition and for that you need overlaps. Where are they coming from?
@@lastpenny849 Walker RCB yes. Indeed two AMC's but in very free roles and both Trent and Saka go forward a lot. A lot of German teams play like this and the Swiss themselves. Germany has 3/4 AMC's and gets their width from the fullbacks same here. All problems fixed if executed correctly.
@@Hyde_Hill If Shaw were fit, maybe. Being restricted to one wing might make it too predictable, but that's already the case. Nothing to lose really. Not sure I trust Saka there at international level.

Saka, Eze, Toney, Watkins, Trippier off the bench
If you play Kane, you have to build your team around him
He is slow and drops deep - that means he either needs to play in a front two (like at Spurs) or a front three (like at Bayern)
Leaving him alone up top surrounded by midfielders that cut inside is a recipe for disaster
Also, picking a left back is always a good idea
When you look at how Kane has played in previous tournaments, he’s always played with sterling and rashford coming off the bench. And also had Son at spurs.
Think Gordon is a must, closest to playing that role I think

Bald head Frank don't you have eyes. When has Saka been invisible. If he's been invisible, it's because he hasn't got the ball enough from the likes of Walker. Trent looks poor defensively because of Klopp, how he coached him, played him over 8 years, RB, RWB, MF, RMF, RW, everywhere and anywhere. if Trent had been used only as an RB, coached properly he would be best RB in world.
Sir Alex lost Champions League Final twice to Pep, but people only applauded Pep. People didnt dare to criticized Sir Alex much.
Gareth didnt lose any match yet. Yet people keep saying this player should be playing, that player should be playing. Some players should only play a part to get contribution. If you let them play the whole match, there is no freshness that can impact the game.
Please stop saying this is easy bracket. No one forces France to be 2nd in Group D, no one forces Belgium to be 2nd in group E. Had the big 2 finished top, England bracket would be heavy than Spain bracket.
Germany too, had they didnt get equalizer at extra time, they would be on England bracket.
Other big teams underperformed, and you blamed it all on England. Even Portugal had to go to Penalty to see off Slovenia yet when England drew Slovenia people pointed fingers at England.
Many people are on illussions, that's why England were average team for so long. If England is not European powerhouse now, then who is beside France? Powerhouse means you keep winning against all teams, not play well.

Exactly.I hate that these pundits does overhype him. This is why he has become so arrogant.
Bellingham shouldn't be above getting dropped. Everyone is acting like he must play, but as a 10, he is awful. He isn't good in tight spaces, he's not a great passer, and he's just generally not very creative. He's played as an 8 basically his whole career until Ancelotti played him at false 9 because he's a great athlete and great at crashing the box. He scored a great goal against Slovakia, but it shouldn't overshadow that he was one of the worst players on the pitch before that. If England's 10 was actually providing more throughout the game, they probably wouldn't need him to score a goal in stoppage time.
"We should have'.. based on what if Southgate wins Saturday he will have equalled our best 3x ever returns of a final and 2 semi finals.
Everyone who says Guehi is the most important player hasn't been watching our games properly (Frank). He has stepped up and done okay given the circumstances, but he has made big mistakes, he was at fault for the goal vs Slovakia, if the Slovakia player went down instead of scoring he'd of been sent off and we would be out, he made a big mistake against Denmark and we weren't punished for it. This whole narrative that Guehi has been our most important/best player is stupid. Bellingham has been our most important player, without him we're knocked out in ro16 & we don't top our group. The whole team has played collectively bad and we are alive because we've had a couple of moments due to world class players being on the pitch.
These explayers are great when they are not playing.
When Macmanaman was playing he was just as scared and negative as the present player it's been the same for years.
I think Southgate should drop Bellingham to the 8 and Rice to the 6, but Mainoo has been the best player on the pitch whenever he's played. The best solution is to bench either Saka or Foden and actually play a left winger. Everyone knows that won't happen though. 😂
Maybe he needs to draw it for them? Draw a ball and a goal and tell them:
We want this thing ( the ball ) into this thing ( the goal ) that the other guys are defending!!!!😂😂😂😂

Lazy armchair punditry, saying Trent can’t defend, where was walker in the last game and against Iceland, should we say walker can’t defend
They can play a back 6 and will still be humbled by Switzerland. The only thing that can make Swiss loss is when they underestimate the underdogs, otherwise they are in semi final.
Why are you so obsessed with England? It's a bit strange.

England play possession football because for some reason since the 90s every England manager has been told the way to succeed in Europe is to play possession football. You couple that with the defensive minded managers we have had over the years and that is why we always play sideways and backwards!!! The most forward thinking managers we have had in the past 30 years is Venables, Keegan and Hoddle and they didn't turn out as expected so the FA reverted back to type!!!

You can’t win with these sensationalists. Even when a manager makes changes to try and improve their team, they stick to the same narrative that the manager is stubborn. The change to a 5 makes sense, whether it works or not, it makes sense.
I’m sick of hearing about Palmer too, he’s a really good player, but he’s scored 1 goal for England and it was a penalty. He isn’t great off the ball and we can’t carry him like Chelsea do. We’re moving to a 5 to get Foden and Bellingham in the areas where they’re at their best. Southgate needs to make his changes earlier when games aren’t going our way, Gordon should’ve had more game time with the lack of movement in behind too. This analysis was garbage though.
