If you switched that around and played Trent at right back, it may be more effective. It’s simple. If a team plays with fear , over thinks and becomes too concerned about losing then it WILL affect them. • @WannabePlayer18
      @WannabePlayer18 Před dnem +1

      They really shouldn’t have to be coached heavily to press high at that level.
      “This is how the opponent play, when the ball goes to x, or we have the opposition boxed in, press high and engage. We need to press together and all go when x triggers to press.”
      Beyond that they shouldn’t need their hands holding. We’re in a system where the players should be pretty comfortable understanding when and how to press too, it isn’t rocket science with how we’re set up. The same goes for our attacking play - we’ve actually created space on a few occasions where a pass through the lines or a one touch pass would get us going forwards with our key players in good areas, the players haven’t wanted to take a risk. A lot of that is down to the players; they will be taking those risks in training. I’m a massive fan of Walker and I think Trippier is a good player, but their passing has been so poor. The amount of times against Slovakia where Walker either gave the ball away or was sloppy, meaning the next pass had to go backwards was criminal.
      There’s a lot of talk about Trent, personnel etc. but ultimately these players need to be braver and show more quality. Trent was also poor off the bench against Slovenia in the group stage, his passing was sloppy, particularly in his own half, and his positioning was a little suspect on occasion. That will have put some doubt in the manager’s mind.

    • @matt7matt722
      @matt7matt722 Před dnem

      @mrpk1719 It's not worth you mentioning all the different teams that they play for because it just doesn't matter.
      These are elite level international footballers that your're talking about. Who play for top clubs and have come through academy systems. They know exactly what pressing is and how to press. So you need to stop talking about them as if they are you and your mates in the local park.
      How and when you want them to press can be discussed.
      The current problem could lye more in the personnel, shape or even fatigue.
      That emotional rant about Southgate and football was also unnecessary and nothing to do with trying to win a game of football.

    Please stop saying this is easy bracket. No one forces France to be 2nd in Group D, no one forces Belgium to be 2nd in group E. Had the big 2 finished top, England bracket would be heavy than Spain bracket.
    Germany too, had they didnt get equalizer at extra time, they would be on England bracket.

    Bellingham shouldn't be above getting dropped. Everyone is acting like he must play, but as a 10, he is awful. He isn't good in tight spaces, he's not a great passer, and he's just generally not very creative. He's played as an 8 basically his whole career until Ancelotti played him at false 9 because he's a great athlete and great at crashing the box. He scored a great goal against Slovakia, but it shouldn't overshadow that he was one of the worst players on the pitch before that. If England's 10 was actually providing more throughout the game, they probably wouldn't need him to score a goal in stoppage time.

He has stepped up and done okay given the circumstances, but he has made big mistakes, he was at fault for the goal vs Slovakia, if the Slovakia player went down instead of scoring he'd of been sent off and we would be out, he made a big mistake against Denmark and we weren't punished for it. This whole narrative that Guehi has been our most important/best player is stupid. Bellingham has been our most important player, without him we're knocked out in ro16 & we don't top our group. The whole team has played collectively bad and we are alive because we've had a couple of moments due to world class players being on the pitch.

    You can’t win with these sensationalists. Even when a manager makes changes to try and improve their team, they stick to the same narrative that the manager is stubborn. The change to a 5 makes sense, whether it works or not, it makes sense.
    I’m sick of hearing about Palmer too, he’s a really good player, but he’s scored 1 goal for England and it was a penalty. He isn’t great off the ball and we can’t carry him like Chelsea do. We’re moving to a 5 to get Foden and Bellingham in the areas where they’re at their best. Southgate needs to make his changes earlier when games aren’t going our way, Gordon should’ve had more game time with the lack of movement in behind too. This analysis was garbage though.
