  • Example of a possible example of unconscious racial discrimination in the workplace. For more info on unconscious bias training: www.emtrain.com/products/prog...
This video portrays some employees of color coming together to protest and support the “Black Lives Matters” movement in their workplace. However, a co-worker disagrees and erases their writing and claims that “All Lives Matter”. This obviously angers the other employees and makes them feel attacked by their coworkers. This is an example of racial discrimination in the workplace and leads to feelings of isolation in the work environment where teamwork and cooperation are essential to the success of the company. To see more examples of racial discrimination in the workplace and how to handle them in your work environment, go to www.emtrain.com

Getting rid of how many people like or dislike a video publicly was the separate people so they feel alone or they don’t know if others share their view. Disliking a video is not attacking or violence or whatever their reasoning for doing it was. Actually probably had something to do with the fact that the White House dislikes we’re off the scale

There’s so many issues with the lead in to this story it’s almost unreal.
What would the protests be about? Like literally narrow it down to something? Instead it will be about a blanket misjudgment of police in general right? With little to no effect on any policies or policing. The other issue I have with people is their absolute willingness to take anyone at their word in real life. I don’t care how well I know someone. If they come in complaining about something I’m immediately skeptical that it’s as cut and dry as they portrayed it. I’m immediately aware there were likely a number of variables and factors that only those involved could have known. So my first reaction wouldn’t be to ask “Are there dozens of protests breaking out, hopefully!?!?”. This is what division looks like, and how it starts. Zero effort towards understanding of anyone else.

I think many supervisors or bosses would erase the message, but be very unlikely to investigate who is behind it, let alone penalize them to any degree. Which is why political things like race and sex are completely inappropriate things to bring up if not a workplace specific issue. It’s nearly untenable, and it leaves one side at a complete disadvantage as to how to deal with it moving forward. Politics need to be out of the workplace, period.

police are more likely to respond with violence towards black individuals, because of systemic racism and individual racial bias. for example, tamir rice was a 12 year old boy with a toy gun, police were called just in case by someone nearby and he was shot and killed. for having a gun that was clearly fake. let me restate, he was TWELVE YEARS OLD. if you’re black (or another dark skinned poc) you’re much more likely to be killed by the police for a nonviolent crime (or no crime at all). in the US, 995 people were shot and killed by police. if that hypothetical deaf man was white, he would be much less likely to have been approached by an officer at all. you’re just ignoring facts instead of doing any kind of research whatsoever.

The White guy although correct, is judged more harshly for his nonchalant carelessness of erasing the word black, than the black people are for interpreting a police shooting as a racial issue when it could not possibly be known as such with such a recent event. This leads to riots, protests, and hatred. Which mistake is worse here?
One person dismissed the feelings of others so a slight degree while observing the truth that tribalism divides. The others are fighting what they see as tribalism with another form of tribalism. And are acting on ignorance of the issue at hand…

My question is this, suppose the two white dudes were there first and wrote All Lives Matter .... and then the three P.O.C. people came in .....
My gut tells me they'd still would have been offended.
Which I have witnessed ... I feel this skit here conflates the issue of crossing out the word black and writing All ...
This is to touch people's sense of making appear as personal or racial ...
But let's think about this, this is a shared office space.
The three people were no longer using it ... They left their comments on a shared work place chalkboard ...
Then the two other guys came to work there ...
My point is, it doesn't matter who wrote what first ...
There was no offense or wrong in changing it, as now the context had changed ..
Meaning, it wasn't that the word had been crossed out ...
These people would have taken offense had they walked in after the two dudes ..
Their objection, IMO ... is the message All Lives Matter ...
Making them as much Whatever? they think the other guy did ...
Being offended is a double edged sword baby ...

That's not an example of discrimination in the workplace. An example of discrimination in the workplace would look more like a black employee not getting the job, promotion or raise despite having equal or better qualifications. I've worked jobs where 90% of the manual laborers were black and 99% of the office staff was white. And the job site was only a few miles away from a historically black college and the city they were in was 35% black. The racial make up of management should roughly reflect the area. Black people should at least make up 20% of the office staff.
I've also seen and heard white supervisors make disparaging comments about workers of color while not in their presence. If they will do that, do you seriously think they will give promotions to those same people of color?
