i disagree. i think he changed the vibe in the room when he did the awkward thing with the water and then the comments before he got started. if you're not familiar with normand's style, which they clearly aren't, it can be perceived as a lack of confidence. audiences aren't going to laugh if they think you're genuinely nervous.
He’s working for his money in this one. Nice to see the reality of even great comedians. It’s a difficult job but he didn’t give up and I think half way through more of the crowd started to get his material. He had really great jokes.

Just watched a few other Mark Normand gigs before coming to this one. The others were funny and slick - great shows, great crowds. This one showed me how tough stand up can be. Credit to Mark for continuing and not giving in to a tough crowd. Quite telling how he sometimes has to remind the audience that 'these are just jokes'.
I just watch comedy to be lectured about feminism and the current social climate. That's why i don't like Mark, he's way too funny to be a young comedian.

I saw Mark perform in Dallas just 2 days after this video. He was hilarious! It was a much better crowd than the crowd in this video. It was really an amazing show.. He went for maybe an hour. My wife and I were in tears!

Comedy is absolutely fascinating. I know a lot of people are saying "tough crowd," but surely there are thousands of other factors at play here as well. We know these jokes are solid and have seen him kill with them in other videos. Why do they not work here? What really interests me is the overall *energy* of the room. What comics went up before, how did they do, what's the venue like, is it free, were there tickets, do they know Mark, how's the service, how's the weather, what day of the week is it, what time of day, how many people are there, how are they arranged, are there any large groups, what city are they in, what kind of drug use is going on, how's Mark feeling, what was he doing before he came in, how fresh is this material, etc. The list goes on and on. Mark is a hilarious professional, but sometimes the magic just isn't there for whatever reason.
Love seeing the journey Marks taken, heard lots of these of jokes now on other clips but his timing and delivery has gotten very fine tuned from their early stages.
