I feel like there should be a battle mode based on the thundercloud, kind of like Hot Potato; shine thief but vice versa where you run away from the cloud

The thundercloud consistently produces some of MKWii's funniest clips.
I like the idea of a double-edge sword item. The thunder cloud gives you a speed boost but at the risk of shrinking you after a time limit
the last one though.

I just want to have a conversation with whoever thought it would be a good idea to include the Thunder Cloud, POW Block, and Mega Mushroom in Mario Kart Wii. I'm saying this because I hate all of the aforementioned items, and aside from the Mega Mushroom in Tour, I'm relieved that none of the Wii exclusive items have been in a Mario Kart installment since.
I love the Thundercloud. I don't want it back, however. Not until we step away from "rollercoaster" tracks. Then the offroad stat would be the best thing ever. Most people don't know about it which I think is why it's so hated.

The thundercloud is the epitome of risk = return, although I don't enjoy taking that risk all the time.

The first one was really lucky. He fell off the map just as the Thundercloud zapped him, and he was returned to the track full-sized.
I love how you turn backwards on the rBC one. It was literally just a "NOPE, NOPE, NOPE, nope" moment.
Really makes a race track turn into a SHORT CIRCUIT.
Thundercloud is good and bad.
While using you get speed boost and off track terrain won't slow you, but once it's time limit is up it strikes you, and can be passed to others to strike them instead.

50% Dropping out from a Blue Shell
48% Trying to hit a racer to pass on the Thundercloud
1% Because the driver hit a wall, or is going back for an item
1% Because they just suck

0:33 if you get tc before the cannon on dk summit, it won't get rid of it, you will receive the tc right after the cannon

ModestScizor45 mk8 isn't the best one.
Coin is the worst.
Brick Wall the coin gives you a speed increase (a very small one, but it still has an effect) while the thundercloud is a shock that only affects you. Thats why i think the TC is worse
ModestScizor45 the tc has a way bigger boost and can be passed which makes more strategy and it's funny when people stop to avoid it. While you get coins almost every time in first even when you have 10. I'm not saying I like tc, but I hate the coin.
Brick Wall i personally like the fast-paced element of mario kart more than anything else (hence why i only play 200cc on mk8), and the TC in the end just slows down the race. I feel like what they tried to do with the coin was give 1st place potential to be defenseless so others can catch up, but imo they should've just brought the FIB back to do that.
I think the *orginal* DS MK was the best. At least, it was easily master-able.
Fun fact: excluding the arcade games, the thundercloud is exclusive to Mario Kart Wii. That's how much people hated it.
This video is so true. I have actually had to redo a grand prix. I was on the last race, last lap, last item box, and a thunder cloud got me. I came in 3rd.

I don't know why, but the sound effect that plays when the lightning cloud appears scared me when I was younger.... Because of that, I am so relieved the Lightning Cloud never returned in Mario Kart 7 or 8!

HelixOwl in Mario kart 8 yes its horrible, in Mario kart 8 Deluxe it's good!! it allows first player to always get at least one defensive item if he is already holding a coin so it has a purpose and that's why it's not that bad

One time I play with my friend, and I got thunderstorm cloud, so I drive all the shortcut and when it almost shoot me, I bumped Bowser and gave the cloud to Bowser so I hadn't got zapped and Bowser did, also I walked the shortcut and from 5th to 2nd (As I remember) 😂

Yes. This item is exclusive to Mario Kart Wii, and there's a reason it hasn't been in a Mario Kart game since.
