- The Rugby World Cup has drawn to a close and South Africa have been crowned World Champions.
While they may have scraped their way their in the smallest of margins, Lindsay Peat, Alison Miller and Máire Treasa Ní Dhubhghaill agree that they actually deserved it.
In the final World Cup edition of House of Rugby, we look back on the final, and the tournament as a whole. We once again dissect Ireland's disappointing quarter-final exit and we choose the best performers of the tournament. - Zábava
Wow this is the first time I have heard experts really understand South Africa's game plan. People think they can only play one style. This is not true. Look at the 35-7 vs NZ and 52-16 vs Wales just before the WC in the low pressure warm up games. They understand that different styles of play is needed for different game states, opposition and even stages in the tournament. They dont care how it looks. In knock out games they play a different type of game that takes advantage of the extra pressure by limiting opportunities and thereby increasing the pressure even more. They are comfortable dealing with that pressure and small margins with this game plan and make other teams feel like every opportunity is now or never. This is why we saw great players in NZ team make mistakes that you would normally never see. As mentioned by the hosts they even switch within a game like second half vs NZ when they were ahead or towards the end vs Eng when they needed to chase.
Great insight and interesting conversation!

These Irish ladies are some much better informed, objective and better spoken than the male Irish pundits, so refreshing, none of that whiny excuse ridden springboks don’t play running attacking rugby nonsense
I'm so tired of that same old excuses. Anything to discredit the boks when most of it not true.
Rubbish. Who needs them to tell us about our game. Tell them to go to the women’s league. Not wanted and add o value
Too much swearing, couldn’t watch to the end😭

Clarity. Wayne Barnes never admitted he was wrong. He said that he was sorry he didn't agree.
No. He said, "sorry I saw it different before"
@@sports2hedz542 He said "sorry mate, I didnt see the replay. I thought you stayed on him. I didnt see it (sic - he) come off enough."
Not sure if that is admitting a mistake.
@@ZambeziKid yes I was paraphrasing. When you analyze it word for word in isolation, sure you can come away with your conclusion. But immediately after (again paraphrasing) Ardie Savea said "so it was ok? ...yeah? Ok ok" and looked satisfied. Which means that Barnes and him were both in agreement that it was an error.
@@Mark777hThey can't change a call unless they or a tmo referred something. A TV Replay is not a referral and therefore cannot be reversed.

@@Mark777h Or you know we can do away with the tmo entirely except for tries and ref decision is final. Either we refer everything and slow the game down to a crawl like NFL or we accept that human error is a thing. We can't have it both ways.
First session with you ladies. Less male ego and so many factual discussions. I really enjoyed that thanks guys.
Best analysis by any Irish pundits so far. Unbelievable work ladies
Fully agree. Realistic and insightful analysis from the ladies.
Also refreshing to hear your views versus so many of the Irish male pundits who disappoint with the echo chamber of viewpoints built on so much cognitive bias
@markcasey5465 the Irish men still seem salty and it irritates me that they think there should only be one way of playing rugby and stuff
Great analysis of the final and players.
Ireland is such a beautiful country and so is South Africa 🇿🇦
Great honesty and knowledge by the panel. Well done and thanks for acknowledging the enormity of the Bok's achievement,
Cheslin Kolbe gave his gold winners medal to a little fan today. The little one can’t be more than 8 years old. So yes, Cheslin Kolbe is a spectacular guy
Excellent analysis ladies! Better than most other pundits on YT.
Agreed
Facts!
Much better than Tindal and Haskel
As a Saffa, enjoyed the conversation ladies. On another day or different bounce of the ball Ireland and France could be in the final - no need to change anything.
These ladies sound humble and knowledgeable. A joy listening to
They are just not só thinskinned as the guys. Objectivity wins the day. Well done, ladies. 🎉
Thank you ladies. This is professional punditry not these sour grapes of most former players hating on SA
Thank you ladies for this knowledgeable rugby review. As an avid Springboks fan, I love it when ladies show their support, as rugby is our national sport. Very enjoyable.
🇿🇦🏆🥇🤗
Wowsers, how have i only just discovered this podcast, the best review and analysis iv heard during the RWC. Well done on your excellent work 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Pieter Steph du Toit nearly had to have his leg amputated and he is back playing like that! 🤯
Doing Irish pundits Proud!! Unlike OTB
Please don't listen to OTB. They just try to get people riled up. They are an embarrassment to Irish sport.
@@neilmontgomery3470 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Wow! Where are these ladies from? They sound Irish and are rugby pundits, making sense, being fair, and acknowledging SA positives! Wow! Bravo ladies! OTB can learn a thing or two.✌🏿👊🏿👍🏿👏🏿🇿🇦
Ireland -2 ex players who won grand slam
PS : Missed by all the pundits that state only the ABs played attacking rugby : Not true. We narrowly missed scoring 2 tries after pretty attacking running , i.e. Kolisi not passing with open try line after brilliant running break & Arendse narrowly missing scoring in the corner after good attacking running. Of course, kudos to the AB's, they are indeed very clinical in finishing, but the narrative that SA dies not play attacking rugby is of course pure b.s., SA scored 4 tries against France in their 1 point win in the Quarters.
The first podcast I have listened to (other than "The Rugby Pod" with Jim Hamilton and friends), that GET the Boks and the way they play....without trying to make it a negative whine fest about "pretty" rugby. Great analysis ladies!
Wow Lady's. Love from 🇿🇦🇿🇦
Best analysis, better than the all that I have watched and listened to. Thank you ladies. Oh and I love that point the blondie made there when she says "even if the penalty was given to All Blacks but that does not mean they would have won because that would give the other team chance to play or react to that" non of the other pundits have mentioned that point. Thank you ladies ❤
Dead honest analysis, not a hair of bias! Rules have changed, need to adapt, the Ireland vs SA game is a benchmark on how to play and apply it. Fantastic show
what a breath of fresh air when it comes to game analysis......well done great chat!
You ladies know more than most guys about rugby.
Very good analysis from 3 ladies that know their rugby 🎉
When you your 1/4 final semi final and final you are THE CHAMPION, and you deserve it , no complaining about this or that...well done bokkes you've done South Africa proud ... envious kiwi.
Thank you Lindsay, Alison and Máire. Brilliant analysis! The best I have seen this World Cup!
Great perspective and rugby content shared on this podcast. Thank you !
😮 Wow! How refreshing........ Unbiased analysis! ❤ From SA
You three girls are great. Loved your comments and how you saw the worldcup. Next one Ireland me second team
Refreshing to see women discussing WCR and doing excellently at it. I've predominantly seen men behind the microphones. 🌍
Some of the best Punditry on the WC so far.
Really good.
GREAT ANALYSIS LADIES, IMPRESSED, GREETINGS FROM THE UK, SPRINGBOKS SUPPORTER!👍🏉🇿🇦🇬🇧🇿🇦🇬🇧 SUBSCRIBED👍🏉🏉🏉🏉
Lady in green is very outspoken! Yet a great analysis and insights into world rugby and Ireland future rugby chances..well done ladies🎉💚🏉
7 - 1 split did work against Ireland. Your mistake is you only looked at the loss but overlook the fact that the Boks only conceded 1 try and that is how they win games.
And for the mere fact that it was used in the final and delivered the title that clearly shoed that it worked in all the games.
Also, the Boks left something like 11 points on the field in the Ireland game. They really should have won.
Ask yourselves how many other teams played the top 6 teams?
The bomb squad was disrupted by Bongi going off in the 2nd minute … we needed the 7:1 to win because of the tough route to the final
As Gary Player always says, the more I practice the luckier I get 🍀
Wayne Barnes never said he got it wrong, he said “sorry, I don’t see it that way “ … get it right!
Great pod ladies, absolutely loved it ❤
Great show. Very informative and genuine. Better listening to you ladies than the so-called experts in other shows who come with pre-conceived thoughts and opinions.
True... and having no respect for our Boks! Most NZ ex players and supporters are pitiful and shameful to say the least! They were 120% sure NZ would win! No way on earth the Boks could or would win this final!!
😂😂
Go Bokke! You did us proud. 🏉🇿🇦🥇🏆 4 more years! 💪👌
Take a bow ladies, super insightful, well explained, and facts to back up your statements. This has become one of my favourite rugby podcasts for analysis. Well done.
My bad being surprised that 3 women can give the best post match analysis.
Really impressed with the panel. Thanks for a great analysis and discussion.
Solid opinions, fair and objective.
Ireland is my new second team, F the whole New Zealand, I was naive to think they really respected us as rivals, glad I saw their true nature. 🎉 Go Boks
Yes exactly. They think they are invincible! Missed 2 kicks, but blame the ref and TMO for their loss. Pathetic bunch. I will also support Ireland in future. 🇿🇦
I saw right through them too. Their media congratulated us and called us friends when we beat England in the final 4 years ago. But not a single congratulations this time, they're not very classy.
Enjoyed listening to these three Irish ladies talking about the rugby final... They know their stuff!!
Thank you so much for fair comments not like other platforms who insult SA stile of play they are Springbok haters bad comments and jealacy
These ladies are more informative than most pundits. Thanks for this video.
The Bokke were knackered after such massive defensive play. I was exhausted and sore just looking at them. And then the release of all that adrenaline, they probably just wanted to fall down and sleep for weeks.
Wayne Barnes did not admit he made the wrong call, that is false.
He said he saw it differently at the time.
Which means he made the wrong call.

Three real pundits !!!
What a wonderful podcast to watch. Well balanced and honest. Where was this during the tournament?
Riiight?!
That is what am saying....
Refreshing, smart and thoughtful analysis 💚
Superb, insightful, well-informed punditry…
You three are great. Very knowledgeable. Can you please replace the clowns at OTB....
Great analysis. Loved the show. Stay blessed 🙌🏾
The 7-1 was never really about impact per se, it was about combating the ABs game plan. The ABs were always going to try to run the Bok forwards around the field to tire them out, hence they made 220 passes. The reason the Boks could make over 200 tackles was because they could bring on a fresh forward pack after 50mins.
The bomb squad, did just enough to pull us through, we needed all 23 to give their last big effort to secure the win after all that came before. Seriously impressed, a legacy to be very proud of❤️🇿🇦
NZ neutralized the bomb squad
Kwagga Smith changed the game…he is part of the bomb squad. The bomb squad is not only our scrum😊
@@sports2hedz542New Zealand didn't neutralise the bomb squad. They eliminated Bongi Mbonambi with a cynical and, I believe intentional, foul on him by Frizell. That meant that our scrums and lineouts were compromised for the rest of the match. As a result the effect of the bomb squad was neutralised by NZ cheating.
@@sports2hedz542 did they???? Had Bongi not been injured even with Cane on the field they would have milked you.

Great, insightful commentary, I just stumbled across you. Keep it up, I am so keen to keep listening!
Great backwards and forwards.
Greetings from SA! Kudos to the lady in green (see what I just did 🤔) - Finally ! Someone thinking. I'm referring to the Chaos Principle, as applied to any game : Whenever something different would have happened at Minute X, the WHOLE rest of that game after Minute X would have been different, due to both 'physically' (after a successful penalty, a half line instead of 22 kick-off) as well as a mental change in all 30 players on the field, completely leading to a completely different game after Minute X. That means it is pointless to say something like "if only we put over that penalty kick with 10 min to go, we would have won by 1 point" : No.
Yes!
Lively, informative and entertaining. Thank you.
Thank you ladies. Really enjoyed the chat from an avid SA supporter
Yes you are right NZ have the most red and yellow cards in this World Cup.
Nz just hate loosing, they can't take it...pretty narcissistic
The bomb squad was mostly neutralized after Bongi was taken out of the game.
The bomb squad was neutralized by props who were better than England's.
What great analysis, thank you ladies - streets ahead of most so-called rugby experts, great stuff!
Really good analysis.
Thank you.
Much better than their male counterparts, balanced views, these ladies know rugby
Indeed
Máire Treasa Ní Dhubhghaill is spot on with all her analysis.
You cant go back and add on 3 pts mid game. SA should have gone for the jugular at start of second half. Kolisi yellow card changed that and they went to defense mode. Also think they tired from the QF and SF.
Awesome.....fantastic factual discussion ladies
First time watching. Wow, awesome analysis of the rwc. By far, the best I have seen. Thank you ladies !!!. From 🇿🇦 🏆
This group is much more balanced in their views, than most pundits. Def subscribing.
Great analysis & insight from these ladies.

Barnes did not admit to a fault in his call. He said "sorry mate, I did not see it that way", using the word, just as the term "excuse me mate".
Wayne Barnes did not say he was wrong he said he didn't see it the same way
Ladies, i do like your comments. Well done.
Pieter Stef du Toit made 28 LEAGAL tackles, Sam Cane has only himself to blame
So refreshing to hear fair commentary. Congratulations!
Best analysis
Absolutely lovely commentary ladies.
That’s one of the best discussions post WC I have heard. Well done Girls great conversation. Accurate factual and relevant. Your getting close to the essence of the things ready to win at knock out Rugby and World Cups.
From a Saffer. 🇿🇦
Please do more like this so much better than the narrow minded guys.
I was on OTB yesterday. Reading the comments it doesnt sound like the Irish fans actually understand how to play finals rugby. They were saying 'oh SA lost by 1 point against 14 men'. Yes, SA were playing to hold a lead, not to increase the lead. Boks play differently depending on the situation. Conrad Smith acknowledged this at the WR ceremony the day after the WC.
I dont know if Irish fans understand rugby in the same way Kiwis and Saffas do tbh.
Where did Ireland end up…loosing in the quarters, so who are they to comment on Springboks style, etc…sorry, but Ireland don’t know how to win when it counts!
Why do your egoes need so much boosting? IRE NZL game was close and could have gone either way. Seems SA fans getting real arrogant saying that some countries fans can’t speak or comment. I could also say South African fans don’t know rules as they clearly don’t understand rules of forward pass. Try learn a tad of respect and try respect others opinions
Was ireland ever in a world cup final? I dont think so. Therefore therir opinions on how to do a world cup final game is null and void lol.
@@citedcanvas85 Rules of rugby don’t change. In any final the intensity is high. It’s so condescending to say they don’t understand.
@@KekeHimonapromise you when it comes to rugby we don’t require ego boosting the Boks & All Blacks are the GOATS for over a 100 years our egos are doing just fine

Brilliant pod! 🎉🎉🎉 from a Safa. 🇿🇦
Ireland was still brilliant! I thought Ireland should have rotated in pool games to keep players fresh and firing for QF.
You really understand what is happening on the field and SA plan. Proud SA.
Ireland has a brilliant coach in Andy Farrell. He is definitely still the right man for the job
Wayne Barnes does not admit error, he says “I did not see it come off quickly enough”
I thoroughly enjoyed this, would watch again
With all due respect everyone keeps talking about how South Africa can't play an expansive game and is boring etc
Yet South Africa's backline scored the most tries this season
The teams playing "real rugby" has New Zealand as the best team ever yet they couldn't score 13 lousy points to win a rugby world cup final🤷🏾♂️
So so true. If they get the conversion or the penalty....!?
You couldn’t score a try against 14
@@waynepirihi9769who won though? 🤔
@@ukuthulakhumalo6288He is going to claim that you only win if you score tries! He forgets that the reason it's called a try is because of the beginning of rugby right at its inception. Originally no points were awarded for tries, it was an opportunity to kick at goal for points! With that said Springboks are explosive in the backs when they need to be!

Springbok fan here. I agree with the notion that Ireland should have rotated their team through the tournament. I think that it would have done them some good and they might have then beaten NZ. There was no reason to play the full-strength side against the lesser nations.
Such a great analysis, just telling it as it is. Was lovely to listen to your level headed discussions.
It was a proper classic, it wasn’t a netball match.
Just keep in mind...against both France & England with around 15/20 minutes left the Boks were behind and had to chase...they did and scored tries to get ahead...in the final they didn't need to make...if they were behind who is to say that they wouldn't have been able to also score a try?
Thank you very much @ytuber3801! Só well noted! You are so right! That’s precisely what Wayne Barnes said! He never admitted to an error - his words were, “Sorry, Ardie, that’s how I see it.”
For me it is so upsetting that all these respected commentators never even went to make sure what the referee said - each just agreed with the other. (Do you even think they read our comments?) How can you put untrue words in the mouth of someone without checking your facts first! That’s how innocent women were burned as witches in medieval times.
Thanks for the program though - so refreshing to listen to women rugby commentators.
