What a fascinating process. As a fountain pen lover myself, I've always wanted to try out restoring one. I've disassembled and cleaned countless pens for friends, but I've never actually taken sandpaper or toothpaste to one.

To be honest the cleaner uses it for days and give it back to him of course it was restored BUT IT TOOK HIM JUST 2 DAYS
You can find tons of vintage pens in India. It's not so vintage to us, it's almost like customery to use an Ink pen in India when you're in high school. I hated it back then, but I love the fact that I got the chance to use it. ❤️
Wait, really? I always see tons of Parkers and Watermans in bookstores but I've found it ridiculously hard to find any places that sell actual vintage fountain pens in India.

I carry a Conklin Duragraph as my daily writing utensil. I am trying to repair a Prototype Eclipse Safety pen from what was essentially destruction.
You mean a *fountain* pen. "Ink pen" is a modern term that makes no sense, because all writing pens use ink.

I am not a calligrapher but I think it is based on how much they charge for each piece of work they do. They may charge extra for glass painting compared to wedding invitations
If you're really good/make creative and interesting pieces, you could get big on instagram and youtube. After you could set up a way to do commissions and your fans could pay you to do pieces for them!

Some of the parts of the video (0:21 and 0:31) are misleading since they aren't really fountain pens BUT disposable dip nibs (Zebra G most probably).
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCMENT: DO NOT USE TOOTHPASTE TO CLEAN ANY KIND OF NIB. Toothpaste will remove far more material than you think, and will wear away imprints and plating on a nib. Just use water, elbow grease, and an ultrasonic cleaner.

YOUR T R A S H Be careful. Pick a good pen first to see if it really is your thing, I suggest a Conklin Duragraph to first get to know if a Fountain pen is right for you, or a cheaper one. I can speak from experience, if you get one, you will probably get a second pen for a different nib size, material, or flex. I would recommend staying out of Vintage Pen area until you are certain you will use it regularly. I would hate to see a rare pen collecting dust on a shelf.

Calligraphy is about 20% in the pen, and 80% in the long hours of careful practice you do, to learn the techniques. I've been practising with antique flex-nibbed pens for a few years, and I'm still learning.

Yeah, most of the major restoration work is easy if you have the right tools and time. Polishing takes forever

Flex nib
There are some modern, custom pens that are very flexible, like the Secretary of Da Flex, and the Bluedew. But the pen itself is just a tool. It takes many, many hours of diligent practice to learn how to use that tool to create beautiful writing. Actually, calligraphy is more like drawing than writing.

I do calligraphy without a pen. I use a normal pen and add a thicker line on the downstroke

It just takes a lot of practice, and writing very slowly. In school, I got D's and E's for my handwriting. But now, people are amazed at my flex-nib calligraphy, because it's more like drawing.

Not sure, but I guess it is zebra g nib on Jinhao x450/750 pen, there are few videos in youtube where folks have done this mod.
