18650 battery packs for drones are blocks made from battery, AA is a type of battery very different from 18650. Dji has 6s lipo but with low c rate as a 18650 not even close to a high c rate racing drone race, you can read specs on dji site
I'm really asking. Unless you carrry the updated aviation sectional chart that FAA publishes every 90 days, how do you know you are not in a no fly zone?
Would you recommend it for someone who doesn't want to build a drone? I like to have with a nice range just to cruise around and i dont really like building this stuff
Is it possible, when you've rached the max. 500 meter altitude when hovering onto something, to update the height to 0 and then hovering again 500 meters?
Dji care refresh is ABSOLUTELY a MUST HAVE for beginners! I got it with my mini 2 (first ever drone) and have used it once already... on the very first day 😓 That hurt. But it was definitely a favorable situation to not having purchased the plan! Mine was $50, $49 to replace, would be $70 for second but that won't happen. $250 for flyaway.
Hey my friend I'm super new to your chanel do you have any videos on a good complete fpv set up for newbies? What do I actually NEED to get into fpv? Finding what to buy at the start has been a task for sure any help from anyone would be amazing 🙏🏼
This DJI FPV setup would probably be the best option for you. You need goggles, camera, receiver for camera and for remote, remote and the drive itself. I built my first FPV drone from scratch but you wouldn't have any GPS or ability to hover automatically. You would have to spend some time in a FPV simulator to learn how to fly in Acro mode. If you pick up a DJI FPV combo setup then everything you need is included and you can fly almost immediately.
I beg to differ here somewhat! I prefer the built-in camera on the FPV instead of the gopro. The footage is less wobbly thanks to its RockSteady EIS plus the quality of the videos are way better IMO!
I’m thinking about buying an FPV for a sixteen year old. From your perspective is it more economical to buy this as the first FPV or to do the build your own (he’s capable) and buy all the other components. Great reviews. I’ve got a Mavic Mini-3 Pro and I’ve subscribed to your channel now. Well done!
Hi there Danny. Ridge runs ARE still possible, as long as your launch is equally high or higher than your objective. Most of my videos have satellite & high-altitude drone intro sequences. (Around 1000 to 1500m a.g.l.)
I don’t how you turn your DJI fpv cause when I first started mine the first thing I got on my screen was the DJI care Refresh... like I don’t know what was wrong with your drone lmao...
might i suggest looking up 4500m up in DJI fpv drone. Also are you using full acro in any of these scenarios, I may be wrong but it seems more like you are flying only in sport mode
Question I enjoy vid goggles, So fpv through a phone screen is stupid. If i wanted a mavic can i get a set up where i can use say fathshark goggles on a mavic ? Because its the better drone just fpv with goggles can you ?
I don't know what to say to this video ...in my opinion completely missed items, first he complains about the quality of the camera, then he says that he prefers traditional FPV to fly .... then he complains about the flight altitude, with traditional FPV you just reach 500 meters and you can go back immediately because you no longer have battery power. these are incredibly vain comments from a man who says he works professionally, and that this drone could have a better camera ???
you can be as far as possible from the nearest airport but you are still in the airport approach sectors or entrance gates which won't allow you to fly.
If the drone weighed less than 250g, would it’s lightness aid in crash worthiness (less mass/weight) or worsen it (fragility/less flight time with smaller batteries)? I’d settle for less than 20-30 minutes flight time if it were 15-20 minutes.
So how does this thing work in regards to flying rules? I was under the impression you weren’t allowed to fly your drone “out of your range of sight” which is about 1500ft. If you’re doing fpv you can’t really “keep an eye on it” lol. Just wondering how that works. Edit, I found the rules. Apparently if you are using FPV goggles you must have a “spotter” or designated person to watch your drone to make sure it never goes out of line of sight.
Carbon fiber frame. I’m with ya there.. the power? I live in a place with high elevation where oxygen is thinner and even in those conditions. I never have a problem with power. The one and only issue I have is the process to replace an arm. The soldering. The full unbuild process. They need to develop the vers 2.0 with quick assembly/disassembly parts for rapid redeployment. That’s the number one issue with quads from dji. Even I have replacement arms with motors on them with 3 prong connectors ready to install and go
dude that issue you talk about at 3mins in with giving the drone power and it not responding is something i just had happen to me and after 4-5 months of never once even touching down rough with this drone in the one time it did to me exactly what your explaining it went full send into a giant palm in my yard and the crazy part is i can pretty much rule out enviromental stuff like wind because it was dead calm that day and i was flying really close to myself when it happened. Its almost like it dropped radio signal but kept video for some odd reason and i wish i could say it only happened temporarily i cant even say that for sure because it really only took 1-2 seconds of that issue happening before it was smashed to pieces to the point where im left having to buy replacement everything pretty much. Its crazy to me that your basically describing what 100% also happened to me. Prior to this i never had a single issue and flew it relatively often but not so much that it would make sense for it to be possibly a motor going out either.
If you’re new to flying and want to get the basics down this is a good place to start but once you learn I would stick to building one and not dealing with DJI complicated softwares
Great honest review! I'm keen to get into the FPV cinematography world and the DJI FPV was my next option but looking at this i'm thinking of something more customisable. Thanks for the review! ps Love the world map on the wall. Was that a 3D print?
If you can safely dismantle the DJI FPV then I would make carbon fibre parts out of the components that you can. In fact it wouldn't be too difficult. I doubt the weight saving would be much but there should be gains in strength of the frame. Maybe. Great content.
Thanks for the video you shared. For me flying drones is the easiest thing, not a problem. I like high speed drones. Flying is fun, but the problem is being disturbed by people who have questions. I don't like talking to strangers. It's the most annoying thing in my life.
I’ve noticed the same prob some you mentioned when flying over the wave. I had this happen the other day while doing a very mild dive around some trees. My battery was around 65% but giving it full throttle the drone did not want to gain any altitude. I was close and could hear the motors whine at full throttle (I was in manual mode angled up) but I just couldn’t go up. It felt like flying with a flat battery.
Funny thing about you saying its not snappy and doesn't punch up when you go up. I don't have this drone but i have tested it on Lift-off sim and i can feel what you are describing.
This is someone's OWN reason why he doesn't want to get it... and trying others to follow him. The drone is not at all as bad as he tries to make it look like. Buy one , test it yourself... if you still don't like it, just send it back and get your money back!
Great review. I want to buy a drone but know nothing about them apart from they fly and make a huge noise. I had no idea about this geolocation thing, I wonder how that works here in the UK.
You referenced several times that the maximum altitude is 500m, I think you need to check the specs again. In the Specs the DJI FPV's Max Service Ceiling Above Sea Level is 6,000 m, I've seen an altitude test on CZcams of it doing 4500m.
You can do a "sport" version of this drone yourself with a half sized battery .., that is probably the reason it sometimes feels underpowered the weight ...
Honestly $1,300 for what you get is not bad at all. I guarantee you spent alot more for your Gopro 9, hd quad, dji remote controller, and dji goggles... I will say the only annoying thing is the geofencing.
Same things happened with my activation, I messaged them at the 50 hour mark and they were very dismissive about the situation. I think it’s on purpose.
Can you elaborate more on the continuous geofencing issues? Was the gps inaccurate? Was the DJI no fly zone database inaccurate? Or were these just no fly zones you disagreed with?
I won't use DJI again, I was in Raqqa Syria on the front lines, no laws, just a war zone, I attempted to launch my DJI and it flashed up NFZ, fuck that
@@lucasbrunelle Yeah they've fucked me over as well, but they've always been *actual* no-fly zones, that IMO were just too large. So I was trying to get at was if it was the same for him, or were there technical issues. As for Syria, I don't know anything about their drone laws/regulations. I don't think a war zone necessarily nixes them, though.
@@MrSlowestD16 Not necessarily in war zones but this was actually Assad's govt that put these restrictions in place along with cell phone jammers and other measures. However, from that day on after missing that border shot on the Euphrates, I decided not to buy DJI again
@@lucasbrunelle Sure, but you have to understand those were still the laws of the land on that day. I'm not saying the laws were justified, I'm just saying they were the indeed the laws. So I wasn't asking him about his ethical opinions on geofences and which ones he feels OK in violating. I was asking him if there was a technical problem (eg. inaccurate GPS), or simply a disagreement he had (at some level or another) with the geofences that were in place. The geofences are sometimes a problem for me, and I get mad when I can't take off, but I've experienced no technical problems with the GPS system or the database backing the fences.
@@MrSlowestD16 That makes sense, I've flown DJI's hundreds of times and I can tell you that technical difficulties were very rare and I never did have an accuracy or technical issue with this geofencing
I have one of these. It is freaking awesome. The highest I got with it was little over 1600 feet before it said that was the limit. I went to record some mountain scenery in a canyon and just beautiful shots...yes I am an amatuer. But, there was a point where I lost image transmission and my goggles went blank...the drone itself continued to record and fly itself until I could see in the goggles again. It's quite the device lol...
Can't you turn off the GeoFence? On my Mavic I have the ability to turn off that and fly in about anywhere I want. I have not even attempted to fly near a major airport.

What happened on that first day? I crashed my mini 2 against the wall two times and it's ok
How can you guys crash these drones. Like how bad of a pilot are you.
Statefarm will cover you for $60 a yr. Including theft. Dji care is a rip off.
Thank you danny, very nice video on the cons. Very respectful to DJI
I beg to differ here somewhat! I prefer the built-in camera on the FPV instead of the gopro. The footage is less wobbly thanks to its RockSteady EIS plus the quality of the videos are way better IMO!
Yup
I’m thinking about buying an FPV for a sixteen year old. From your perspective is it more economical to buy this as the first FPV or to do the build your own (he’s capable) and buy all the other components. Great reviews. I’ve got a Mavic Mini-3 Pro and I’ve subscribed to your channel now. Well done!
6:21 When u can't find a drawback but u really have to make one for a video...
the dude literally mentioned like a million other drawbacks
Hi there Danny. Ridge runs ARE still possible, as long as your launch is equally high or higher than your objective. Most of my videos have satellite & high-altitude drone intro sequences.
(Around 1000 to 1500m a.g.l.)
Why doesn't this comment have any replies lol. Are you saying the drone can go over 500m?
Could you take out the camera from the drone and modify the GoPro camera for it??
Hi Danny, love your video. Could you tell me the configuration of the drone with yellow prop ? frame , motor, etc. thanks
Was an honor to edit!
You crushed it
who is it and why did he crush him :(
Question
I enjoy vid goggles,
So fpv through a phone screen is stupid.
What would you suggest for my first fpv?
"So they say"
I’ve had my invisible friend with me all my life looking after me so it’s no problem for me. He’s always watching over me.😁
what about an nd filter on your dji drone for the comparison??
And shoot D-log then increase color contrast in post, -as it should be- to match the footages.
Even I have replacement arms with motors on them with 3 prong connectors ready to install and go
dono how i found your channel but I was in one of your zoom group calls the other day 😅😆 small small world hahaha !
Also, why not modular parts? Especially the arms. Maybe designed with break points so all parts can be modular.
dude that issue you talk about at 3mins in with giving the drone power and it not responding is something i just had happen to me and after 4-5 months of never once even touching down rough with this drone in the one time it did to me exactly what your explaining it went full send into a giant palm in my yard and the crazy part is i can pretty much rule out enviromental stuff like wind because it was dead calm that day and i was flying really close to myself when it happened.
If you’re new to flying and want to get the basics down this is a good place to start but once you learn I would stick to building one and not dealing with DJI complicated softwares
what is the name of your backpack?

Does geofencing take notams into account?
Might be the reason you weren’t able to get it off the ground
It's the most annoying thing in my life.
it has the same sensor as the old mavic air :( maybe a better lens to improve it??
Dude whats the best drone that you'd recommend?
You do really good reviews.
Buy one , test it yourself... if you still don't like it, just send it back and get your money back!
good mind. well done my boy
Great review.
I want to buy a drone but know nothing about them apart from they fly and make a huge noise.
I had no idea about this geolocation thing, I wonder how that works here in the UK.
Every drone less than 250g is allowed to be flown everywhere, even crowded spaces
@@ashinator9309 what's the weight of this one?
good info thank you
You referenced several times that the maximum altitude is 500m, I think you need to check the specs again. In the Specs the DJI FPV's Max Service Ceiling Above Sea Level is
6,000 m, I've seen an altitude test on CZcams of it doing 4500m.
You can do a "sport" version of this drone yourself with a half sized battery .., that is probably the reason it sometimes feels underpowered the weight ...
Only thing I think to mention, in the app you can override the height limit in the flight settings menu
so what is the max?
Honestly $1,300 for what you get is not bad at all. I guarantee you spent alot more for your Gopro 9, hd quad, dji remote controller, and dji goggles... I will say the only annoying thing is the geofencing.
Just ordered mines, cant wait to fly it.
Have any of these issues been addressed by DJI? I'm currently looking for a good FPV drone.
Great review
Thanks! I just changed my mind
Geofencing and height limit are a killer
Whats the intro song?
This will work for me thanks tho for this vid
At 2:23 you are in Valladolid, Yucatán, México! 🙌🏽
maybe the menuverability is something that can be adjusted in the control settings?
Can't you turn off the GeoFence? On my Mavic I have the ability to turn off that and fly in about anywhere I want. I have not even attempted to fly near a major airport.
I have two off these. And I have crashed one six times hard enough to knock the battery off. It has just cost me props. I would buy them again
This video was so useful
Just got it as my first drone EVER. I might get another one maybe someone thing smaller and more quiet. But I'm have an absolute BLAST. I was between this one and the Avata.
The most thing I like about the FPV is the Savage startup sound 😈😎
@1:27 where is the link?
This is your reason, NOT MINE, take a hike dude!
Why about the goggles ? Can you use any goggles with the lime green drone set up you have with go pro ?
Yep. Just not the controller
@@Mcgeee what are the goggles that work with it ?
