Rest in peace, the man, the legend. I'll regret never being able to watch him play. His music did lead me to make jazz one of my lifelong loves, so, for what it's worth, hope you're playing mad piano licks in heaven Chick, we'll miss you.
One of my regrets too and for the same reason. He got me into jazz when I was tired of playing and selling my bass. I was 12 yr old and saw the video of the elektric band in Montreal and the solo of John pattituci, showed me the way and how far I was from what I wanted in life. From there went into the rabbit hole and still loving music like the first day Chick was different.
John, Dave and Chick Out of all the iterations of chick trios or band this is the base for me I know they were made for each other and that's why they kept coming together time after time
Ah yes! I'm thankful Dave was able to cover for me on drums this show.I had a birthday party to attend that night.Or else I would have been in this video. Thanks Dave!
My late son heard Mr. Patitucci w/the Elektrik Band in Houston and cried when he got home..."Dad, I will NEVER play as good as him." What a BAND! Mr. Corea also made Musikmajik and The Acoustik Band play "pretty well!" lol
@jazzzzdude Well.. Both versions are played differently. They come up with a different solo everytime. And the one at New York was at the Blue Note, the Band was playing and the rest of the people were watching while having dinner and all that!
My former employer and I are HUGE Fans of Chic. I am the acoustic fan and he the electric. I took him to see the acoustic band and he closed with Spain. Needless to say I converted my former employer in to an acoustic fan.
Totally agree. Frankly whenever his name is mentioned, the first sound that comes to my mind is his synth improv solos. Those sounds for some reason just really stick to me and stand out way more than his acoustic work. I'd even go as far to say that imho, his electric work is more creative too
@maybuhay also at 1:00 Patitucci accidentally goes into the solo section when he was supposed to take the repeat back to the beginning, his face of "oh shit that's right!" is classic. =) nice recovery though.

Call me crazy, but this is my favorite Chick Corea lineup. This trio was ridiculously good
Don't worry. You are not crazy at all
John Patitucci on bass is marvelous !

Amazing guitar player
Amazing how Weckl plays that salsa solo so heavy and then drops down so smooth! Incredible
That's so cool when Chick starts beating on the piano and clapping along with the bass solo...
yeah you can really tell he's in the music and he was adding sounds he thought were necessary there, like an auxiliary percussionist
Sir I need you to upload the rest
This is way too good to not have the full version
Three masters of their craft.

John patatucci is simply a master
Each of them are of the highest caliber, world class players. Simply amazing! (but not my favorite performance)
The best fucking Double bass solo EVER! :')
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO IT CANT BE OVERRRRRRRRRRRRR
@denzelsnipes69 I think because acoustic is a touch more percussive so it blends on another level.
I listened to a lot of Chick and its the first time I noticed a slip at 0.34......watch his body language....still brilliant though..kudos man..
I cried at 9:00. Thanks Chick : )

These are Weckl and Pattitucci which are in the electric band but this version is more of the acoustic type..

칙 코리아.. 음악을 나는 이해는 못하고 그냥 듣는데 묘미가 있는건 느낄수 있다..ㅎㅎ
Damn did you see how buff chicks fingers are? Thank you for posting this..
@Kaminari3 Maybe he made a mistake, but managed to get out of it and improvise the intro. A true musician he is.
2:15 my jaw literally dropped when they started swinging
Why do i even attempt to play?!!!
@maybuhay
yeah i noticed that one, too; the jazz-police is everywhere ;)
Qual o nome da primeira faixa ?
