    I wish you had said in the beginning this was a paid ad, but ok. Nothing against the sponsor but I don’t feel the planners are that similar. Price should be a consideration, but yeah we all buy too much lol.

      Aw I’m sorry you felt that way! I wasn’t trying to insinuate they are planner alternatives as I have other videos on that! I was trying to show the reasons why I’m looking elsewhere and not buying a weeks. Thanks for watching!

    I found Kinbor from your previous video of looking for hobo weeks alternative. I bought instead the weeks size blank grid notebooks as I realize I like to change up formats from time to time. Therefore with just grids, I can change it to horizontal week or vertical week layout depending on life events.

      Such a good idea! Did you get it from sterlingink?? I should totally consider that next time!

    I feel exactly same as you! I thought I could use them as an EDC planner, but never ever be able to pull off it. So I moved to ring planners. I prefer vertical weekly. And the extremely small grid made me feel tired.

  • @katlero28
    @katlero28 Před 8 měsíci +1

    Best thing I’ve found the horizontal weeklies for is detailing my planned tasks for the week to migrate to my dailies all while also using the vertical weekly to know what my time blocked schedule is.
    Monthly (pre-planning events and appointments) informs my vertical weekly (time slots and open slots for events, appointments, and tasks) informs my horizontal (tasks I have time to do for that day or have to get done that day specifically) informs my dailies (to do lists and rapid logging notes throughout the day).
    This is the most functional and productive I’ve been in a long time using this, but there’s is no unicorn planner for it. So I’m bujo-style adding in the spreads I need to a bound book or looking at trying a TN system.

      Ooo interesting so do you use 2 sets of weeklies?? One vertical and one horizontal??

    8:00 the hobonichi websites recommends the weeks for memory keeping- I believe the biggest confusion in the planner community is using planners to plan vs selfcare journaling/logging - one requires the left brain and the other right brain or creative vs functional 🤓 so people looking for a functional planner tend to need structure with minimal decoration whereas the journaling youtubers need the lack of structure- if you have a job with tons of clients meetings, information will get lost in the noise- on the other side, no one wants a dull planner to journal

    I agree! It is too small and very expensive. I love my personal ring planner so I can just print out my preferred layout plus do a little bit of decos. I am done with hobo weeks too. 🤣💜

    It's interesting, bcs for me Weekly is the only one planner that worked. Like ever. I hate vertical formats, white paper, hourly schedules, back on white or even other harsh colors on white paper. Horizontal layout worked so well, as did cream paper and how small it was, although it would be too small even for mega to be all in one book, I'll admit. I just wanted something else, I'll admit, I got tired of the small layout even if it worked for me, so I'll be getting A6 and see how my place deals with taxes xD. But yes, the price bites. Honestly I'm glad you found an alternative and more affordable planner you like, that's the most important thing. I guess Weeks only works if you had very little to plan and most people into planners have more than 3 lines haha (throwing shade to myself). It doesn't matter if its hobonichi or not, what matters is if it works for you or not, and if it doesn't, well, than it doesn't. I'm glad you shared this ❤

      Yesss so well said!! I totally understand that it must work for a lot of people given it’s popularity it’s just for me I can’t make it functional unfortunately 😔 I hope the a6 works out for you!!

    most people who use hobonichi weeks dont actually use it for planning. most use it for journaling. i love to journal but im actually too lazy to do it but journaling in the weeks makes it possible because of its size. but i do agree that the price is a bit off putting.

    Yes agree. I did try hibonichi a5.. and weeks.. but ..nah.. I'm good. Sticking with Midori or stalogy

  • @jessplansandwrites

    If what you need is a timed weekly vertical planner but no daily pages or just a few notes pages, then yes, Hobonichi has nothing to offer. Comparing the Weeks (rather than the Cousin, which would actually be comparable in my opinion because it at least has a timed vertical layout) with a vertical weekly planner feels like comparing apples and oranges to me.
    If you do need a planner that is similar to the Weeks-yes, there are many great alternatives such as the Kinbor or, my personal favourite because it has grid everywhere, the Sterling Ink Weeks. That said, I do have a Hobonichi Weeks-and a Cousin-for 2024 because I couldn’t walk past the beautiful Tomitaro Makino illustration covers. The covers are a major selling point, in my opinion. If it hadn’t been for them, I’d have chosen a Weeks alternative because I do prefer whiter (but not thicker) paper. I actually drew in lines on the left side of my Weeks to make it more usable to me. The added bonus was that this partially scratched my itch to set up a planner drawing out the layout all by myself, for which I currently don’t have the time.

    • @MomYePlans
      @MomYePlans  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Well said!! I actually wasn’t trying to compare the two planners at all! I was simply just trying to explain why I wouldn’t be getting a weeks this year because there’s other cheaper options but thanks for your comment! You’re right though there are a lot of beautiful cover options that are hard to pass!!!

    • @jessplansandwrites
      @jessplansandwrites Před 8 měsíci

      Ooh, now I understand! Sometimes your planner needs change, too. With the Weeks, I will actually be going back from a timed vertical layout (B6 Common Planner) to a horizontal layout because that’s just what I need and prefer als my EDC at the moment. For you, it appears to be the other way round.
      I’m from the EU (Germany) where we have the Italy-based shop Stilo e Stile that offers Hobonichi products for a similar price as the 1101 website (sometimes even a bit cheaper) and that has free shipping for orders above 80€. There are overpriced Hobonichi products from other resellers, but in this case, comparing prices was well worth it.
