- Live performance at the Jazz festival in Montreal 2005
In my eyes, in disposed,
In disguise:as no one knows
Hides the face Lies
The snake, the sun
In my disgrace
Boiling heat, Summer stench
'Neath the black
The sky looks dead
Call my name
Through the cream
And I'll hear you
Scream again
Black hole sun
Won't you come
And wash away the rain
Black hole sun
Won't you come
Won't you come
Stuttering
Cold and damp
Steal the warm wind
Tired friend
Times are gone
For honest men
And sometimes
Far too long
For snakes
In my shoes
A-walking sleep
And my youth
I pray to keep
Heaven send, Hell away
No one sings
Like you anymore
Black hole sun
Won't you come
And wash away the rain
Black hole sun
Won't you come
Won't you come
Black hole sun
Won't you come
And wash away the rain
Black hole sun
Won't you come
Won't you come
Hang my head
Drown my fear
Till you all just
Disappear
Black hole sun
Won't you come
And wash away the rain
Black hole sun
Won't you come
Won't you come

Man you have got to be so eternally hip to pull this off. It’s a master class.
Huge Soundgarden fan but this is just great version. The whole album is superb. The orchestra is just dead on, they don't miss a beat. Wonderful!
I love how he covered Grunge classics like this and Smells like Teen Spirit - truly a great musician and music appreciator!
I didn't realize how much I miss real bands until this randomly popped up in my playlist.
real instruments played by real musicians.
it's good for the soul
As a 90s kid, I was a HUGE fan of big band AND this song.
Still here 956 years later.
Madre de Dios... Me ha explotado la cabeza.... Dios..... Paul interpretando este tema tan especial... Dios... Es de antologia....
Simply I love it ❤❤❤
It shouldn't work but it does. Chris loved it seemingly.
What to say? An otherworldy outstanding masterpiece of a masterpiece....
Now then.... that was one fantastic live performance!
Brilliant & unsurpassed performance!
I want him to sing slim shady or Stan.
Killing band. Vinnie Colaiuta's the drummer on the album. Great, great stuff. Class.
Wow...never thought that this song would work this way...big Sinatraesque production. It does sound good though!
I came here from listening to his version of Teen Spirit which as brilliant as this.. I have no shame in recommending both to my friends.
I wasn't too sure about this, but that slow and gentle chime stroke about a minute in hooked me.
I just love this arrangement. I had to idea of the complexity of this tune until I heardagnPaul convert it into a Jazz tune. And Paul’s delivery… fantastic!
A great song sung by a great singer
Elevator tune acid flashback. Brilliant!
Very Classy Mr Anka. RIP Chris.
Too much sun
unbelievable! respect!
I think what mainly attracted Anka to this were the rock chord progressions, and melody. It's a cool tune, and he knows it. HOWEVER. The fekking awesome lyrics are an absolute flop coming out of this guy's mouth, you have to kinda shut your word-hearing brain parts down while you listen to this, in order to enjoy the sounds.
Anecdotal: At our wedding we had an awesome DJ who, upon reading the room correctly, slipped this in during dinner. no-one had heard of this recording yet, out for only a few weeks. It blew a lot of people away, and the old birds recognized the voice as Anka, and liked it too. Awesome.
Beautiful Paul!!!! now please make a cover of "hammer smashed face"
Hahahahaha!
Brilliant
Chris loved this one
Totally awesome version of a great song!
It's so interesting to read the comments before and after he passed.
He's still alive
@@tommott2819 I think he meant Chris Cornell
This, this has made my day!
My favorite album
this jazz version by Paul Anka is great too. amazing performance and music
It's Swing
GREAT!
purdy fuggen good, Paul layin down.. WOW
wow amazing xxxx
sublime
AMAZING!
I luv it!
Love it when the greats even use karaoke tracks to perform too. There is NO way these musicians were recorded for THIS were hearing here. The intro is for sure the original recording.
this is realllllly good!
For people on the fence about ending it all...Mr. Paul Anka!
RIP Chris!!
A Great Chris Cornell Tribute!!!
Chris would loved it
@@dnasawn8783 In fact he was still alive then (and he will stay alive forever)
we do like it. A lot...
WOW !! Surprisingly, it actually sounds pretty good
This....is....Fucking....Legendary!
P.J. Kelchner legen...
wait it....
....
dary!!!
More than you think.Peace.
Maestro Paul did for this tune what he did for coffee.
very cool.........
Great
The Guys get Shirts!!
grande Paul, che Big Band da paura che si porta appresso!
EPIC
a mediocre rock band??? You mean one of the best rock/metal bands of the 90s?
who dare to said that bro?
Devin Rodriguez alternative/Grunge
Vegas, baby, Vegas, that's where it is really at.
Pleas Please More than you think.Peace.
i second that notion
Wow this cover makes me feel like I'm on an episode of Twin Peaks. Bizarro world. I like Paul Anka and all, but what the hell?!
With my old friend Hiroshi Upshur on grand piano.
Thinks version sounded better on the radio. It definitely made me go back and pull out my soundgarden records. Johnny Cash did 'Rusty Cage',Sinatra did 'Something' by George Harrison. This totally makes sense.
Cheeky fucker, it's brilliant!
This one shows me how many classics Soundgarden created...listen to Rusty Cage performed by Johnny Cash, you'll like it
why?why?why?R.I.P. CHRIS.
This Man change shit horror songs for Heaven Majsterstick.
@snupcho to introduce the poetry of the music to people who wouldn't otherwise appreciate it. The same reason a lot of rock artists might cover an older song.
@hondain Well, he's definitely "got the magic".
strange, soundgarden song makes me depressed and makes me cry, but this version makes me laugh and smile :s
Is pretty curious, the original versión doesn't makes me feel sad. I like both versions.
@snupcho My guess? To show just how well written the song is to begin with, and to introduce that to an audience that wouldn't pay attention to grunge and alt rock otherwise. Same thing with his nirvana cover.
That's Paul Anka's original song by the way.
Anka certainly didn't cheap out on the size of the orchestra or the quality of the orchestrations...better than any Sinatra wannabe. This kind of band costs a fortune!
I fucking like it lol
I'm curious how would it sound if he covered Black rain.
This post is incorrect! Paul Anka released this song first.
wtf...lol...funny as f..k ...ha ha ha ha...
catchie.....
People he is of Lebanese descent, Lebanon is a country in the middle east. And what color are people from the middle east BROWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
beyond funny.richard cheese anyone.
How does Paul not start cracking up
He keeps looking down to his right. Is he reading the lyrics from somewhere?
welp if Paul did Heart Shaped Box I wouldn't care at all... :*(
people he is of Lebanese descent,Lebanon is a country in the middle east, what color are peple from the middle east BROWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You need to think of this almost as a different song as it's so different I was on the point of abandoning it when the tempo upped and the big band came in really swinging. A worthy version I enjoyed. Now I'll go and listen to Haley Reinhart's superb version of it with Postmodern Jukebox.
@KatrinaMess check out his version of smells like teen spirit. works better i think. i usually watch the version of him on letterman
It looks like black hole sun came on his face.
Same song in the movie Mad Dog Time : czcams.com/video/p_8SqpZOSGk/video.html
Are we sure this isn't Richard Cheese?
Black hole sun won't you come and wash away the rub on tan?
I can't decide if this is really brave or just utterly bizarre! Yes, the orchestra is on, but the Vegas/ Anka "happy sounds" are really at odds with the lyrics.
Maybe both. Brave yet utterly bizarre. I don't care for it.
To me it’s funny because it’s so incongruent
you're kidding right? it's really come to this?
@tararira73 JAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJJAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
I don't think so
I don't know if I should kick a dog or hug my bully
so confused
I didn't know that Paul Anka was black.
He is Lebanese so arab
I don't know whether using LSD has helped me to appreciate things like this, but I think so.
He turned Black Hole Sun into some Frank Sinatra Muzak :-(
What a depressing song
Pretty cool but I kind of feel like he's trying to pull a Johnny Cash "Hurt" thing. But it's cool.
Animals Mistaken for Monsters Right because everyone who covers a song is doing it because they want to pull a Johny Cash "Hurt" thinng. Thats right Johnny is the only person who has ever covered someone else's song. :D
Animals Mistaken for Monsters right because I care what you think LMAO :) cry somewhere else bitch
William Shatneresque.
joseblose22 OMFG THIS
You think this is a classic? That's a little too flattering I think.
mannnnn, the intro that sings acapella it's so untuned
That is ridiculous...
