You can also do this with Gray-Mortis-Gale. Mortis just takes the blue star and gray uses gadget. I think its easier because you dont have to actually get a kill at the start.

0:58 I'm almost certain that the Mortis player is a bot because bots will move, stop, move again, repeat whenever the only opponents in a match are in a boxed in spot. Also he reacts to the Grom breaking the walls instantly in a way that isn't normal for actual players.
So this means that the first successful attempt actually did get an opponent to ragequit (assuming they didn't just disconnect at the start of the game).
This is the only way to make gales swing gadget work
