      This isn't for everyone but just throwing this out there,. The Chevy Colorado with diesel engine gets 27 mpg, delete the DEF, catalytic, and particulate filter and buy a generic flash tune for 500$ and there are multiple people I personally know getting 32+ mpg on interstate at 80mph with slightly up sized tires. So I figure you got a lot of room to lift and get bigger tires and still maintain over 25mpg.

New F250 is stock but they are pretty tall on stock suspension and last week we had some flooding here in BR, LA that I went through with relative ease to get to my wife's job to help them evacuate kids out of the daycare and get them to their parents that were parked across the street on high ground. It wasn't much, about a foot or a little less, but cars would get stuck easily and the water was running a bit......but nothing to push a massive 3/4 ton F250.

    I just went from my old, 2 wheel drive, service van to an 8 inch lifted (bought it that way), used, 2006 Chevy Silverado, with some mud tires etc., because in the Sierra foothills, where I live and the need to get in and out of people crazy-ass property's (Im an electrician), it is SO necessary...the clearance is essential and obviously, the 4 wheel drive is too! I never knew the whole, "lifted truck, macho thing", was even a thing! For me, it's pure practicality and essential for what I do and where I need to go, to 'do it'!

    You should make a real vid about the truth about lifted trucks explaining the mpg loss, trimming, rubbing, wheel bearings, etc. and what to expect with gas and diesel trucks. I say gas and diesel trucks because gas trucks will Always get bad mpg when lifted unlike a diesel getting 20+ on 40’s with 24x14 wheels. I hope you see this and consider it. I drive a pretty uncommon truck that you won’t see in your gallery but maybe 3 times and that’s a 2004 Toyota Tundra stepside 4x4 and would like what you got to say about that specific truck. I know y’all are busy but I’m at the starting point of lifting my truck and all that fun jazz and I would like you to show your light on what to expect. Thank you in advanced.

  • @berkalper4742
    @berkalper4742 Před 5 lety +3

    Funny vid Fuller, but there are some more serious concerns one should have before lifting. While bad mileage and drive-through difficulties might be inconveniences, just raising a truck (or any vehicle) increases its rollover chance, unless you put on a setup with serious stance. Larger wheels make your car/truck slower off the line, but more importantly, the stock brakes are less efficient and stopping times and distances are increased (even if the wheel/tire setup is the exact same weight as stock, which is never the case). There are plenty of other possible negatives effects a lift brings to the overall practicality of your truck, but those vary based on the specific vehicle and setup. This doesn't apply to the 5% of modified truck owners that genuinely go off-roading, where obviously having an improved wheel/tire/suspension setup would have a performance benefit, whether it be for ground clearance or enhancing grip.

But regardless of your own tastes they do have a purpose. I perfer no deep dish wheels, needing a step bar not a ladder to help get in the truck, a decent amount of travel, being able to fit into a garage, and if youve deployed to the middle east before not having a jingle truck (look it up). Mods are fine as long as you excise modestly.
