In this video we take a look back over some of the greatest 100m sprinters who have and haven't taken their talents to compete indoors in the 60metres event over the years.
Your presentation was brilliant and informative. This is truly thought provoking. Thankfully not a rehash of the obvious but a definite conversation nidus. Bravo keep the good work.
As for Bolt's indoor WR. I think he could've run 9.62-9.70 in his prime. That record was run in Poland if I'm not mistaken. I think the town/city name started with an "S"
Also. I think Bolt would've run 6.35-6.40 if he took it seriously, but to be honest. I think Bolt's only mental flaw is the fact that he doesn't believe he can start well. The myth that Bolt was a bad starter is so popular even Bolt himself believes it. In 2015 Men's 100m semi in Beijing. Bolt stumbled, because he mentioned how he was paying a bit too much attention to someone on his left. I think it was Su, because he mentioned how that athlete flew out the blocks. In his movie "I AM Bolt". Glen Mills kinda had to reassure him that his starts are fine and that it'll be enough to win and as history has shown. It was always enough... Except that one time, but we don't talk about that
Bolt ran a 6.31 split in his 9.58 race (0.9+ wind). Convert that to the zero wind of an indoor facility and its aroud 6.34 which just about equals the current indoor world record
Yeah I agree bolt’s only slightly minor flaw is his mentality on his starts. They may be a little inconsistent after 2012, but in general they’re very quick. Bolt would be a consistent 6.4 sprinter and run 6.35/36 at most indoor.
@@khumokwezimashapa2245 It is the commentators and the fans fault. Remember that when you're not the best in something, everyone will trash talk. Bolt split 6.3 atleast 8 times and has gone very close to it NUMEROUS times.
That was Daegu - the famous DQ in the final. I think that was his last realistic chance to improve his WR with his start being so damn good for some reason. Too bad they brought in the 0 false start rule. The conditions weren't great but he might have done something spectacular in the final
Keep in mind that Gatlin and Powell weren't even close to their prime shape when the ran a Pr in their 60m. I think they would've managed a Mid to high 6.3 at best
A hand timed 14.8 is 15.04FAT equivalent. Christie (14.97 (1994), Mackie (14.99 (1997), Bailey (15.01 (1997) are superior marks ran in the same setup (50m Bend + 100m Straight).
@@nsxperformance Is there even a official WR for this 150m set up? Some use MJ's 14.83, but it was enroute to 19.32 and had a 100m bend with 50m straight.
@@nsxperformance Oh yeah my friend with the .24 hand held to fat conversion, you know your stuff!! Also I always heard Mannea's 19.72 wr was questionable, some say he came out his lane and didn't cover a full 200m..
bro i think you're forgetting to factor in the wind speeds in some of these outdoor races. Jacobs barely had any tailwind in his Tokyo race. no tailwind means you get the same indoor conditions.
su bingtian has the fastest 60m at 6.29 pound for pound SU is the most explosive and powerful athlete on the field only problem with him is his torso he has a long torso but very short legs so he dosent have the stride length needed if he had longer legs with his power he would hit 9.6 or lower
He split 6.31 in his 9.58, second only to su. He split 6.32 3 times in 2008 9.72 and 9.69 and 2012 9.63. He split 6.35 in Moscow into a headwind with pouring rain. 6.42 -1.3 0.223 RT with rain and cold in 2008. Please stop that nonsense. Bolt has one of the best accelerations.
3:28 Epic semifinal Tokyo 60 m split :
Jacobs 6.40
Baker 6.37
Su 6.29
Wow! So Jacobs closed 3 hundredths on Baker and 10 on Su!
@@Trackreatorhe didn’t completely close he still got 3rd I believe
@@justsomeguywithafox493 yeah you right he closed 2 out of 3 hundredths since he ran 9.84 and Baker 9.83.

As a lifelong 100m fan, this was densely packed with detail and very interesting, thanks man
Bolt's 6.31 was the traditional LAVEG laser time, the high speed cameras at the same race were likely more accurate and got him at 6.29s.
all the more impressive since hes taller than that of su
Powell's starts were remarkable for a big man.
Great analysis. I really enjoyed your video. Kudos.
300m? 400m?

See. You two get what I'm saying. Bolt has had some really good starts, but I think commentators are mostly responsible for that myth

What was Bolts split in Doha 2011 @4:54. It was one of his best accelerations ever
That was Daegu - the famous DQ in the final. I think that was his last realistic chance to improve his WR with his start being so damn good for some reason. Too bad they brought in the 0 false start rule. The conditions weren't great but he might have done something spectacular in the final
Bolt was always in the lead by 60m period!
Does anyone know Richard Thompson's best 60m split?
Bolt didn't break the 300 meter record. His earnest attempts were in the rain. Otherwise, that would have fallen too.
Bolt probably coulda had the 400m world record too if he really wanted to
If he trained for it he definitely would've had it
that 4:54 race was just a walk in the damn park
was it the semis or opening heats
@@boredhcr2 i believe it was the semi, i'm not 100% sure
why do they make the track so short, as in after they they always run into the wall because they are so fast

Idk about that. Especially Gay. Idk say Powell could have.
Powell would have walked a 6,3

Lots of records be didn’t break
If they all ran the 60m at their best I think the fastest ever times would be in this order
1. Bolt
2. Coleman
3. Powell
4. Gatlin
5. Greene
Su Bingtian has fastest ever recorded 0-30-60m split, don't count him out because his racial difference and his enormous strength.
@@19Kamau79 you could have atopped after the first line
Greene was using peds so was gatlin. Don’t know about su and bolt. I think piwelll was caught also.

The 300m? 400m?
Bolt never broke 300m or 400m either 👀
400m is also a sprint 😅
He didn't break 400m
“The only world record Usain Bolt didn’t break” all the other events xd
You left out the word SPRINT read the title of the video again.
Su had a bad start in Birmingham
Could hardly understand commentary
His 200m wil fall
I mean he didn’t break the 5k wr or the 10k or the marathon or half marathon or the 400m or the 800m or the triathlon or the highest parachuted height
the one world record between 0-200m he didn't break presumably
Too bad the Pole vault ruined his World Records streak and became his biggest obstacle.
bolt wouldn't have even gotten near the 60m wr because his acceleration is slow compared to most 60m runners
