    In 9th grade, in 1977, I last heard this: my quavering and timid tenor sneaking into the opening high F with all trepidation warranted. But... It encouraged me to go on, major in voice, sing professionally in Germany. The difference an aria can make.
    What a sumptuous vocal gift here: only a bit darker and you are nearly in Suzie LeBlanc territory. Not needed. It is exquisite how you sing.

    Really nice performance. From far the most delicate I have listened of this wonderful piece.
    In this field, a master piece is the combination of a great composer with a great singer. This is a nice example.
    Congratulations and thank you very much for posting it on internet.

    Acis and Galetea is one of my favorites and I have never heard this aria sung more beautifully or soulfully. Gave me chills. Thank you and hope to see you in concert soon!

    I have listened to this so many times! I am an aspiring singer myself and must confess to nicking a few of your ornaments for my graduating recital. You have a beautiful voice,m and a great approach to baroque technique and practice.

    Zach -- you sound FANTASTIC! My student and I are using this performance as a learning model. We went to school to school at Eastman back in the day -- Oliver Henderson.

    I wonder if this was originally intended for tenor or soprano?

    • @ZWilderTenor
      @ZWilderTenor  Před 6 lety +3

      Originally, the first 1718 version it was likely tenor based on the 5 part chorus (STTTB). The 1732 (in Italian and English) version was changed to soprano, and eventually the aria was absorbed by Damon in the last version, played by a tenor. So, the answer is both!
