Unfortunately for them they faced both a historically good defense in the Super Bowl and their ex coach of the last few years who knew their offense and its player tendencies inside and out.
That's true I've been a raiders fan all my life and that ruined my whole outlook on pro football im looking back at this awesome season and that's about as far as it goes for me.
I remember this game, I worked with a Pittsburgh fan that was loud and he kept talking trash to me bout this game, so I told him to put his money where his mouth is, needless to say he took the bet but never paid up.
Oakland Raiders quarterback Rich Gannon 12# is the master of scrambling for yardage, moving in the pocket, side arm slings,&,last gasp dinks. Jon GRUDEN turned journey man career backup quarterback Rich Gannon into a MVP!!! RN4L ☠️☠️☠️☠️!!!
I don't care what anyone says. Charles Woodson is the best CB to ever put on shoulder pads. @ 41:30, Woodson fractured his shoulder on that play and didn't come out of the game. He was out a few weeks after that and later in the season broke his leg and still played in the playoffs and Superbowl. He was a football player.
I tell one thing, it was a while for me to get used to this dink and dunk offense, growing up when the Raiders always looked deep if not there dump off to the RB or TE.
Do you have the Raiders Vs KC game from week 8? I know we lost that game but I still wanna watch it , or anything from the 2003 schedule? I remember we beat the Vikings that year
@@RaiderClassics I just love that season man my bad lol , it’s like the only game that isn’t uploaded by anyone and I love watching this team play , win, loose or tie ☠️🏈
Only if Al Davis would have shared the spot light with Gruden for one more year. No disrespect to Tamp Bays Defense, but without knowing our play book we beat Tampa Bay in the Súper bowl.
RAIDERS cornerback Phillip Buchanan had a great rookie season. He was a good cornerback. I wish we would've kept lockdown cornerback all pro Eric Allen.
2002 marked the 30th anniversary of the Immaculate Reception in a playoff game between these same two teams in Pittsburgh. The calendar date on which the play occurred, December 23, was a Monday in 2002. 1972 was the third season Monday Night Football was a regular part of the NFL schedule. Despite this, the NFL decided to put this game early in the 2002 SNF slate instead. While the Steelers did play on MNF on December 23, it was a road contest at the eventual Super Bowl champions, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Off topic ANY RAIDERS FANS....Why isn't Daryle Lamonica in the NFL hall of fame. Before you say the easy answer, stats, go back and do some research and let me know why? What he meant to the AFL and the Raiders and the NFL in general.
The Steelers secondary that year was awful. The first two games of this season they were shredded by both Tom Brady week 1 and then Rich Gannon week 2.
The Steelers secondary was really good in 2001 but aged like fine vinegar in 2002 and their lack of speed was very evident and then the wheels fell off in 2003 and they were complete trash.
What was it one of the announcers said? “It’s whoever has the ball last.” I don’t think that comment held up too well, I think it was that moron Paul who said it!! Actually, all the announcers talked like Pitt was dominating the Raiders!!!!
Intercepted by Charles Woodson 24# to end the game. RAIDERS WIN 30-17!!! Beat Steelers in Pittsburgh!! RAIDERS quarterback Rich Gannon 12# threw for over 400 yards a career day & he completed 42 passes with 1 touchdown to Jerry Porter 84#. RN4L ☠️☠️☠️☠️!!!!
Man, back then when football was just football and football only. Not this sjw nonsense we have in the nfl. This was the football I loved and remembered. Now its a circus with all this political nonsense we have today.
1:20:41 Charlie Garner's run 🔥🔥🔥
And the missed call on the horse collar tackle
@@chevysilveraider1936 Wasn't a penalty back then.
@@manuginobilisbaldspot424 Exactly. Back when they let them play football.
And it was only for about 25 yards. But it looked like a 60 yarder.
These were definitely the most enjoyable announcers to listen to... wish they were still around
This Raiders team was so insanely good!
And lost the Super Bowl insanely good team win Super Bowls

Running back Charlie Garner was explosive!!!
He's one of the best of all time. His best year he had 960 rush yrs & 940 rec yes. It's a shame Philly wasted the first half of his career.
RAIDERS wide receivers Jerry Rice, Tim Brown,&, Jerry Porter was in of the best trios in The NFL.
Raiders always putting the hurt on the Squeelers. 😁👊
I remember watching that game and that season .I was convinced we were going to win the Super Bowl...Gannon was so good, he deserved that Ring
If they'd faced anybody but the Gruden-coached Bucs, they'd have won it.
