- Video on that crazy Coyotes vs. Panthers game - trust me, it's a wild ride! We're talking about that intense moment when Zucker slammed into Cousins. What a scene! And yeah, it's sparked a huge debate about the NHL and player safety.
Zucker got hit with a major penalty, but Cousins? Seemed like he just skated off without a hitch. Doesn't really add up, right? 🤨 This isn't just about one game; it's about how the game's being played and the rules that are supposed to keep things fair.
Jump into the video where I break down all the action and share my two cents on the whole thing. And hey, I'm really looking forward to hearing what you've got to say about it, so don’t be shy - drop your thoughts in the comments!

If there's any player that deserves to get boarded, it's Cousins. You know what they say, "What goes around, comes back around."
Cousins is always at the center of all these situations. For some reason the NHL or refs will control Cousins. This is the second time in the past week players had to police themselves againt him. Great job zucker
Parros was a nutcase when he tried to play hockey and is worse at head of player safety
Parrots has brain damage from his last fight where he faceplanted into the ice. Time to replace him with someone who doesn’t have dementia.
Duncan Keith hit that you showed was a perfect example of what happens when you don’t suspend a guy in Matt Cooke he had to take things into his own hands
Zucker is an absolute beauty for this
Cousins fell like a rag doll, lol
I'm convinced that the league is choosing to look the other way with certain teams and players, like Florida, because they want to grow their fan base in non-traditional hockey markets and promote star players in the media.
The Tkachuk brothers are exhibit A, plus any team below the Mason Dixon.
I think you're right
I agree with that 100%. Funny how last playoffs the Panthers were allowed to use any thuggery they wanted to get them to the finals. Once there, the refs brought the whistles back out, and the Pussycats couldn't hang.
If u play the game the way Cousins plays, then hits Valamaki like that. He should expect to get laid out. It’s not a clean play by Zucker but it’s the right way to back up your teammate. Especially when the refs won’t call anything anyways. U gotta step up for a teammate.
I think Zuckerberg expected cousins to brace more lol. He just stood there.
Players of this caliber know how and when to police themselves if necessary.
Nick Cousins should get an Oscar.
You could’ve solved it this time by suspending Cousins for 3 and Zucker for 3.
Seems like Cousins got away with his dirty hit because it didn't flatten his target. If it caused an injury I'm sure he'd be getting discipline, but that raises the question of when should discipline kick in. Only on an injury, or if there was a clear intent to do something dirty that could've caused an injury?
Bro he wasnt even look at yhe guy untill the puck was there once he saw that he try to move out the way but because it in slow mo it made it look wrost put that shit in full speed and you will see
Cheap hypocritical shot from behind. Typical from a mediocre goon.
@@jordanlazo7468 are you defending cousins? You’re a joke, its on cousins to pay attention where he’s going and not to make a dirty hit, but he does so again and gets away with it.
@sword2872 lol let me ask you this who was scott free from injury? The cyote player guessed who got hurt the panther player you know why? Cause cousin wasn't trying to hit the cyote player. Watch it in full speed it completely different, then slow mo, especially when you see the puck comong toward the cyote player and cousin jump away from him
@@sword2872just cause cousin got away one time doesn’t mean it this hit shouldn’t be fined otherwise we would have constant illegal hits dumbass
If Cousin di3s on the ice I won’t feel nothing other then calling this a removal of stupid players.
Kadri got 3 game playoff suspension for same hit in 2018,but.... nothing for Cousins who seems to be LOVED by player safety.
Fire the entire NHL player safety executive staff and replace with people who aren't morons
It’s hockey man what really needs to happen to bring back the 80s type hits and play style
Even when I went to make a proper hit and the person turned last second, and I made a dirty hit, I knew I had to have my gloves off before I turned around cause I was getting jumped.
Dirty hit by cousins, shoulda known something was gonna happen, just probably didn’t expect it to be that quick
I’d buy Zucker a few beers if it was me he was sticking up for
Didn’t even hit his head into the glass, that guy should play scorer
Cousins deserved that, if the league won’t do anything players will have to take it in their own hands
The aspect that the retaliatory is the only one the department of player safety is offended by, suggesting everything else is a hockey play is a pathetically lazy way of monitoring. We don’t want the NHL to be “non-hitting -league” but the amount of dirty hits taking place and sticks as weapons is unbelievable.
I bet he was smiling laying on the ice.. karmas keeping notes
See ya Jan 24th in Florida Zucker😮
That’s what Americans like since Bateman took over.
Zucker only got 3 games because he still has to show up in florida. Jan. 24th see ya there 😮
So, when players out of nowhere and unprovoked take the first cheap shot you get absolutely zero pim's, but anybody who retaliates against you gets the book thrown at them? People need to be out there running around ending stars careers if nothing happens to them, why is not the cheap teams just bringing up players to end careers for nothing? Think about it, cheap shot a stars career, get nothing, when the other team retaliates, they get multiple suspensions....
official's job is to enforce the rules; that means ALL THE RULES, ALL THE TIME, TO THE LETTER!!! no matter how trivial the penalty seems, or how long and slow it makes the game, also simplify the rules, the rulebook is hundreds of pages , cut it back to a couple of dozen pages
no, players suck at player safety. keep you damn head up and pay attention
Damn that's brutal lol, from behind and into the boards. But you love to see a player sticking up for a teammate!
Panthers are the cheapest team in the NHL and they get away with everything
The NHL DPS has been a joke for decades. No surprise.
Cousins is consistent ,in this case left his feet and threw the elbow to the head; infuriated Zucker, who should not have drilled the "rat" . Zucker will have to live with the results. I am no Cousins fan ( thinks he is a mini-Bennett clone with over the line BS--steady)
Zucker is one of my favourite players and I’ll still say that Cousins did not “lay him out” at all. He was already down on his own and he barely touched him. You put it in slow motion and it still looks like nothing. What Zucker did is messed up and can seriously injure a guy in multiple ways. I lost so much respect don’t even like the guy now
When Cousins went down Zucker should have cross checked him in the face. Make your suspension worth it.
1:26 The Coyote player is standing up then does a sudden kneel as Cousins is facing towards him to hit him and try to get the puck I don't think it is Cousins fault as the Coyote player was standing up then he kneeled down
He left his feet with a elbow to the head???? Lol how is that not intentional??
@@evanmoore6170 Look at how he was standing up before then the Coyote player kneels down Cousins has no time to stop the hit
Yes, not a chance Cousins meant to do it as he jumped into the check for maximum impact.. Did Cousins make 25 fake accounts to just type this nonsense?
@@PurrkourCat he kneeled down to try and stop the puck from going by. he missed.
@@gingabread2690 Yeah so I don't think it is anybody's fault
Cousins acted like he was shot
Was it actually a dirty hit? Not liking a player (Cousins) doesn't automatically translate to illegal. Nor does "cheap hit" automatically translate to "illegal hit". What you showed was Valimaki being hit while on his knees. That's obvious. What you don't see is how close Cousins was when Valimaki dropped to his knees. Two factors the DoP always looks at is, did the target player signicantly change body/head position just prior to contact and did the checking player have sufficient time to alter course. If the answer to the first is yes, and the second no, there is no penalty or suspension. The attacking player, not being a mind reader, must have sufficient time to see, process, and adjust his path to be held accountable. The NHL standard for reaction time is .5 of a second. Valimaki put himself in a vulnerable position, just prior to contact, by dropping to his knees. That's a pretty significant body/head position change and thus no penalty on that play. Like it or not, thems the rules.
Cousins actual didn't hit him as hard as he could have. plus it was a clean hit in my eyes hip hit the front side of the shoulder. the second was very dirty. Zucker hit from behind and the puck was long gone. now I'm not saying Cousins hasn't done dirty hits in the past but this one was clean. When I played we didn't have all these new rules and only one ref. so.
So we not gonna talk about how the puck was there like he was going for it and not for the hit or the fact that cousin try to avoid the other player but not squaring up?
You blind? He left his feet trying to hit him as hard as he possibly could in that specific scenario.
@bpastorb bro he would give more of an impact by going full though not jumping
What physically happened and what he intended to do are two entirely different things.. U want to argue he would have put more energy into the hit by not leaving his feet? Thats not the point.. The point is he tried his best to obliterate him as much as he possibly could. You are obviously new to A) watching hockey B) watching nick cousins@@jordanlazo7468
@@jordanlazo7468 not true. the rules are to keep your feet planted when throwing a hit for a reason. Jumping and leaving your feet makes a hit more impactful. the only way he would give more of an impact while still on his feet is if he were charging and moving his feet all the way through him into the boards. Also an illegal hit.
@bpastorb are you blind? Go watch the whole clip from a different angle. He literally tries to avoid him. The defender dropped to his knees on his own .5 seconds before the hit. He's lucky Cousins didn't actually hit him, Cousins literally moved his body out of the way within half a second to avoid direct contact.
Cousins didn't do anything wrong here. What's wrong is you not showing the whole clip. The defender dropped to his knees 0.5seconds before the hit trying to keep the puck in the zone, putting himself in a bad position. Cousins was already on his way toward him to try to make sure the puck does leave the zone. No one can stop that fast. Literally no one. He even tried to avoid hitting him. He barely touched him compared to all his other hits. No intent from Cousins to make a dirty hit here, and complete intent to injure from Zucker.
Seems like cousins knows how to play the hockey to NHL standards and yall can't handle it haha
Elbows to the head?? Naw guys a clown
@@evanmoore6170 it's funny, cause you're wrong.
@@mikeschwartzberg9689 can you elaborate?
Bettman, Player Safety and the League are turning into a joke. Bettman has overstayed his welcome. Time for term limits
Zucker is a clean player and Cousins isn’t. Game misconduct was enough maybe plus 1 game. Cousins should get 4 games for history and hitting an obvious vulnerable player. NHL player safety is a circus 🤡
Even when I went to make a proper hit and the person turned last second, and I made a dirty hit, I knew I had to have my gloves off before I turned around cause I was getting jumped.
