- Enshrouded early access reviewed on PC by Gabriel Moss.
Enshrouded will likely be an instant hit for anyone who’s ever wanted to build a castle in a fantasy world full of danger, and it makes all that building fun and easy with an intuitive set of tools. But even if you don’t care much about crafting, Enshrouded’s RPG systems are already solid enough to carry you through its open world for a few dozen hours - even if its vague story and puzzles are forgettable, and its combat and movement systems could use some fine-tuning.

Indies and AA are really stepping up these past few years. They are delivering promising games that are just fun and cheap. Even while in early access. And now they are rivaling AAA directly.
Im loving it. In a time when games became more expensive glad these smaller studios are just delivering guality games.
Quality games...??? Name 2 'Quality games that were released in 2023. People like you are the reason games are getting worse every year!

The RPG class systems set it apart from every other survival game out there, it's so refreshing
other survival games like?
@@Odyssey636how far are you into the game?
@@crescentmoon256 rust, minecraft, valheim, Forest 1 and 2 doent have any rpg class system. Some of them have stats but they dont do much.
Indies really put these developers to shame in 2024
@@Odyssey636 You must not be very far into the game then yet. As you progress the enemies get drastically stronger and attack rates are much faster. So yes upgrades actually mean a lot. With gear and skill implementation you can make the game as easy or hard as you want.
Quick Tip: Always have an altar in your inventory to have a portable tele location.
Why take up inventory space? All you need is 5 rocks that you can pick up anywhere
@@thetaikonaut8397 im that lazy.
No
One thing that you can rely on(at least for now) its the fact that this game still in EARLY ACCESS, which means that we can at least hope that the game its gonna improve if you give it some time :D
Looks like the combat is actually enjoyable
it is.. this dudes sounds like a boomer who played a game. games great controls feel fine. you do need to get use to them but endgame everything smooths out so much
It can take awhile to actually feel a bit challenging imo and it's easy to cheese enemy AI.
The control the player has with combat is fine but the enemies need improving imo.
Ehh it's not really. Hated it
It very basic not punishing not much to it either.
It's really not, coming from someone who's already put 60 hours in and have done pretty much everything. It's clunky, and not in a deliberate fun way like valheim or souls games, it is genuinely floaty and often times unresponsive with absolutely no impact to it. The parry system itself is nonsense, sometimes it works and other times it doesn't, attacks aren't choreographed well and when you're suppose to initiate a block to parry an enemy seems to vary wildly. Enemy AI is braindead for the most part which baffles me because there is an enemy in the game with some fairly decent Ai, the green dude with the dual weapons will attempt to find a way to climb to get to you. Weapon variety is in the absolute shitter at this stage in EA, not only does every weapon within it's archetype function the exact same, there's only like 5 different weapon archetypes atm, 1 handed, 2 handed, bow, wand and staff. There's nothing interesting or unique about any of the weapons, which is a shame considering this genre is known for its interesting and fun weapons.
I'm so excited for this game to get all the updates it needs to be great
Quickly check if this game was made by Pocket Pair
Don't look at spoilers, go get this game if you like valheim. Construction is a bit straight forward but the combat system is amazing.
You guys really need to step up your capture resolution and quality.
yeah this looked terrible
Looks fine to me 🤷
Reminds me of Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning with survival mechanics and less story. Just wish there was weather and the Emerson would be complete
Feels like New World had a mutant baby with Valheim.
Exactly right
Feels more like a dark souls game than new world and this game has zero survival mechanics you don't need to eat or sleep.
@@eradicatedpulse6896 this is where it's like Valheim, you don't have to eat or sleep but the game is much easier if you do
@@eradicatedpulse6896nah its not clunky enough for a souls game. Def more new world look
@@eradicatedpulse6896even better
15 hrs into it and having loads of fun. Real banger of a game so far.
This is my favorite survival game ever
Honestly it's pretty fun. Obviously needs work but I'm excited to see where it goes
the menu ui and fonts choices looks highly inspired of Genshin Impact
The tedious things you mentioned will probably be polished in the future or can be easily fixed by a mod.
1:40 gives off "maybe the real treasure was the friends along the way" vibes
This, palworld. Now its getting interesting. I'm just hyped for light no fire.
Nowadays games could use less hand holding.
The dodge mechanic and stamina management adds a slight dark souls feel.
NO!! No hand holding! This is the BEST part, by exploring and finding things out on my OWN!
Sir this is Chilis
Agree. No hand holding!
Great game you guys comparing to palworld is wild… game is awsome and totally different in style and gameplay
Palworld is much better.
Palworld clears, don't hate what you don't understand
@@seanp4three palworld is a generic survival game without pals.
@@seanp4three it's really not. It's also a lot buggier. Once the novelty of it wears off in a couple hours, it's the same thing over and over and over and over and over and over again.
@@XEROXAYUKI Tbf if you got rid of the pals the game wouldn't even be a basic survival game, it'd be a game at an alpha concept stage, if it wasn't for the pals the game would be nearly completely barren.
the thing that bothers me most is when the glider constantly deploys while im trying to scale things, especially when using double jump.
It was so annoying at first, but its managable after you knwo whats up.
Double jump window is very short, you can afford very small delay between jumps. When Your character starts going down, there is a couple of milisecond where you can duble jump and then, space activates the glider.
1:14 Alexa, I'm blud, I'm drunk for a drug
"Until you play the game, the game is harder to play" another classic IGN review.
ill pick this out in a couple of years when all the bugs are fixed
30 hours in and havent had one bug
Rake bug is fixed allready too.
Not buggy at all for an EA title. Nowhere near as buggy as ark was at launch
Only bugs I've come across are literal bugs and two years after a game comes out seems a bit ridiculous unless it was terrible at launch. Or maybe $30 breaks the bank for ya.
have you played new world? this is far more polished for an EA title, sure to be even more refined when full game comes out. Small indie game that has passionate devs is all the difference
They need raid bosses and dungeons
THIS GAME IS AMAZING ...
For the Lore .. You need to read the Lore texts found in the world,
what happened in this world was horrific,
because of the greed of powerful humans ... they believed in easy miracles... and got swallowed by it.
I'm playing it by 30 hours and the adventure is just beginning
I’m enjoying this a lot more than Palworld. Idk it’s more my style
Gonna get this one when I'm free!
Ooh is this a new Valheim or something? 😮
Nah it's better
This got posted an hour ago? right.
This looks like ark colored paint on a valheim style game. A lot of potential
This looks so amazing! You’re so lucky to have gotten early access to
its available in Steam right now
Ok bot
they made their own voxel engine for that game... thats insane!!! palworld on the other hand....... they even stole all their assets... its like an amateur fan made mini game on UE5... and worse part. both came out fairely close to each other... what to buy and what to play :D
Sounds like a really solid EA base to work from. If they work on fixing the the right things it could be a great one. I'll definitely keep an eye on it.
Impressive.
Laptop specs ?? 😮
Maby they optimise it later.
No need for upgrading right 👍
Hope this will comes to console.
Looks like fun
It will. I’m like 99% positive the dev mentioned that early access on PC is to finalize the game and run tests with pc customers, then final release will come to console.
2025
This looks like a better conan exiles to me.
Some of the AAA developer needs to step down and start taking note, indies slapping yall in the face.
The basic combat is nice, it’s not too complicated nor are the animations too crappy
fast travel tip: always have an available altar and you can just place it close by to the point of interest so incase you need to drop some loot off you have an easy way to get back
7 right?
Looks great
So when will this be out on PS5?
Complaining about overly aggressive enemy AI that attacked unpredictably in large groups? That's What We complain about now? You people are crazy
Sounds like a Souls game with building
Who needs custom building when you can move right into an enemy base lmao
Im not sure how you can complain about durability in a survival game 😂
That was Def a weird take
the durability is actually so forgiving too you can repair everything.
This year's the year of survival RPGs apparently...
Im honestly not complaining about these games especially only for 30 bucks. To many 70 dollar games are so unfinished.
great game. giving AAA titles a run for its money at a fraction of the cost
They gave it a 8
Did this man just have a problem with Durability being a thing on weapons and armour? But that's like...So standard breh xD
This review yet again shows us why IGN is IGN.
At the end of the video, you're just complaining about basic things that are present in survival games. You wish there was no durability meter? The monsters are too aggressive? Cmon bro 😂
Does the combat actually look this bad or was it mostly his gameplay?
More hand holding? you kidding right? LOL.
It's an amazing game. Way better than Palworld.
Wow.
Nice Early access game in 2024
Yeah this looks pretty cool but its the latest in the graphically plastic looking games.
This game is terribly missing some well crafted NPCs and Story.
And cars. And soccer.
maybe but it doesn't mean or need to have a story. just like valheim, there is some lore, but not much dialogue and stuff, just combat and grinding.
Feels like more of the same in the survival genre, the only semi interesting addition seems to be the killer fog. Not sure it brings enough to the table for it to stand out from other existing open world survival games 🤷♂
IGN gave it an 8
8/10 guys
W
Honestly higher than I'd rate it in its current state, strong foundations but boy does it need a lot of work.
It got an 8.
This game is amazing
game looks sick
They need to fix ai and the feel of challenge. Also map is very big but empty.
looks a lot like the new Zelda games
Just me that can't run it over 15fps on lowest settings? Lol Ryzen 5600x, GTX 970 4GB, 16gb 3200mz...
Yeah no your 970gtx is the problem here .. sorry buddy
Just an outdated system man. You mind as well upgrade honestly.
The clunky animations and bad lighting at peak day really kill this for me, luckily those are easily fixable things, gonna keep my eye on this one
The right hardware includes an ultra wide monitor apparently
Hard locked 60hz in 2024?
Broke the sound barrier getting a refund.
Palworld has taken over my gaming life till the 22nd of March when the Arisen will rise again!
It's 8
what happened to spoiler-free reviews :(
Why is IGN hyping up all these mid games lately? It’s a no from me dawg
so....PS5?XBOX?
PC dude
Does having a base serve a purpose other than just building for building sake?
It becomes a fast travel point.
Upgrading it is required to further progress in the game, there are red shrouds that you can't enter until reached at a certain flame level. Secondly, the rest bonus is an extremely useful buff that provides an incentive to decorate and improve your base. And as IGN stated in the video, it becomes your place to cultivate plants and other resources to actually improve your equipment. A base is actually a necessity.
No, but there's a pretty supported suggestion for adding raid mechanics so it will likely come in the future. But there are also Placeable NPCs that provide crafting and quests
Yes, it does. Anyone who says no is lying. You get a rested buff from having a base & can extend that buff based on the comfort level of your base. You can increase that level by building more and more iirc. Additionally, there are NPCs & different crafting stations that you can place at your base that craft certain things for you.
You need a basic base, but it doesnt matter if you have just one house with all your stuff or a whole castle.
0:40 🤣😂😂🤣😂
This is like new world but w no story so it’s not pulling me in. Make a game that’s complete from start to finish jebus!!!!
just straight up spoiling the game by showing the bosses. Thanks IGN!
Pc only.
better than palworld
Maybe but palworld being free on gamepass and of course being available on console now kind of gives it more widespread popularity overall.
this game really makes you feel like you're enshrouded
reminds me of velhaim.. wich is FUN
Valworld... Like valheim spinoff
I'm honestly just burned out on EA games
looks like valheim v1.02
bros definetly a boomer.
Been a while? Lol every game is either like this or dark souls today. Chill.
No spoiler warning, IGN gets consistently worse.
Wow
Review felt like a 5, gets an 8, was it like a number keypad typo???
Yeah lost interest as soon as that wingsuit popped up
They gave it an 11. You’re welcome.
I'm so bored of survival/crafting games.
So just go play something else?😂
Kinda weird you even clicked this in the first place then…
Have about 20 hours in this game already, and it plays more like an exploration RPG rather than a survival/building game.
Don’t play 😂
Is someone making you play them by force?
Kinda unfortunate that it's locked at 60fps
Why? Its not a shooter so your eyes cant see past 60 in rpg games anyway and all that matter is your ms for invinsibility frames, why are we still presenning your game runs faster after 60 fps in games like these
@@MikkiZHskDK please don't tell me you think your eyes can't see past 60fps
@@coreyclip1 in arpg they cant , its prove by science . Just watch videos
its NOT locked at 60 FPS, the developer reported, that this is a known bug, that many users reported
Looks extremely mid
