  • A Russian TU-22M strategic bomber was reportedly shoot down while it was on its way back from a mission in Ukraine. The Russian plane was downed in around Bogomolov , Stavropol what means within Russia more than 300 km behind the actual frontline. Ukraine claimed responsibility for the downing why Russia denies this and said the plane crashed due to a malfunction a third possible option is a friendly fire incident inwhich Russian air defense downed their own plane. It would not be the first time.

    🎯On April 13, 2024 in Luhansk, as a result of a strike by Ukrainian missiles of the Storm Shadew type, the commander of the military unit 28331 (this is the 59th Guards "Sivash" brigade of the Central Military District of the Russian Federation) Colonel Pavel Kropotov was killed.
    An interesting question: what did the commander of the district-level management brigade do at some regular machine-building plant, even at the repair base of armoured vehicles...?
    He was clearly a frequent "guest" there...
    And this is explained quite simply, if we assume that Ukrainian sources... reported quite reliable information...
    The blow was struck precisely at the control point (PU) of the group of troops (GV) "Centre", the basis of which is the troops (forces) of the Central Military District.

    Ukraine has claimed they used an S-200, which despite the age of they system, and it's relative lack of sophistication, is the longest range SAM they have, something pushing 200km (even Patriot PAC-2 is a little less). However, they could "Frankensam" the S-200 missile with more advanced radars from Patriot systems (we know they've been working on integrating such older Soviet era SAMs and newer kit), but even if they did something to increase the range (a better or extra rocket booster?), they'd have had to hit the Tu-22M earlier and then it would have been trying to limp back to an airfield when it fell apart. Plausible, but the ranges involved are def pushing the story a little bit... If the Tu-22M was launching Kh-22 missiles (themselves a range of about 320km), there's some serious standoff, though with targets like Dniper and other cities in the interior, the Tu-22M would have had to fly closer than that to the front, so a modified SAM could potentially have the range. Maybe. What we'll have to see is if feats like this are repeated, that will lend a lot of credence to Ukraine's claims for sure. And if they do have a SAM that can reach out and shoot down the long range strategic bombers (at least some of the time)... Well Russia's Blitz campaign might be coming to an end (or getting throttled way down, especially as it seems likely aid bills will be passed in the coming days and Ukraine will get a much needed restock of Patriot and NASAMs ammo to counter the missile Blitz's....)

    • @netyimeni169
      @netyimeni169 Před měsícem

      You just proved the point of Russian government saying that it malfunctioned. On the video it doesn't seem to be damaged except for the burning engine. But that's just a single example of Ukr lies. Russia doesn't fight blitzkrieg, it fights a slow and steady war of attrition. And Ukrainian lives are not going to be restocked anytime soon. If their people understood that their government wants to use them as pawns maybe it all would have ended long ago.

    • @jamesscott2894
      @jamesscott2894 Před měsícem

      @netyimeni169 lol So either it got shot down... or Russian planes just like to sporadically fall out of the sky (while on fire)... about as good a look for Moscow as their claims of so many smoking accidents at ammo dumps that's spontaneously combusted, or the Moskva and all the other sunken BSF ships lol
      And if we're talking a war of attrition... Russia is on the wrong side if the 1:4 casualties there bub. But hey, that's why they're desperately shipping piles of gold to Iran to buy missiles and drones and need North Korea to supply them ammo, and they're rocking T-62 and even T,54/55 tanks on the front line (when their guys even have tanks and aren't assaulting in Chinese golf carts, motorcycles, or worse, 5 ton trucks...)

    Ukraine continues the strategy of displacing Russian aviation
    At 3:00 a.m. on April 19, 3 strategic Tu-22M3 missile bombers, loaded with 6 X-22 missiles, took off from the Russian Engels-2 airfield to strike the territory of Ukraine. Missile launches began around 04:55, and around 6:00 a.m. one of the X-22 carriers, the Tu-22M3 aircraft, which fell in the Stavropol Territory, was destroyed.
    On April 19, 2024, the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine simultaneously achieved two previously unattainable results. The first is the interception of two X-22 missiles, which has never happened before during the entire period of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, since these missiles Russia has been striking mainly on regions where there are no Patriot and SAMP/T air Defence systems since 2023. The second is the destruction of the Tu-22M3 in the air, which were previously destroyed only on the ground.
    But this success of the Armed Forces of Ukraine should be considered in conjunction with another successful strike on Russian troops - on the airfield in the temporarily occupied Dzhankoy.
    On the night of April 17, as a result of a missile strike in the Dzhankoy area, the division of the 18th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment was almost completely withdrawn from combat. Destroyed: 4 S-400 launchers; at least three radars, in particular, 92N2E and 91N6E; as well as the rarest, unique Foundation-M complex.
    In addition to air Defence, the aviation equipment located at the airfield was also damaged, but the data on the number of losses in its component are being specified.
    Thus, we can say that, despite the difficult situation with the supply of weapons from international partners of Ukraine, primarily air Defence systems, the strategy of displacing Russian aviation from the temporarily occupied territories and the Ukrainian near-air space, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine did not refuse.
    At the beginning of 2024, it became obvious that after a successful campaign to oust the Russian Black Sea Fleet and its shameful flight from the temporarily occupied Sevastopol, the next target would be aviation. And in the first months of 2024, this plan worked like clockwork.
    Since the beginning of 2024, on January 14 and February 23, the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have destroyed two unique DRLO A-50 aircraft. The IL-22 control centre was also seriously damaged.
    In addition, since the beginning of 2024, 18 Su-34 and Su-35 tactical aircraft have been shot down.
    In addition to work on air objects in and around the airspace of Ukraine, Ukrainian law enforcement agencies carried out regular raids on Russian airfields, both in the temporarily occupied territories and Russia itself. For example, on April 5, unidentified UAVs attacked the Morozovsk airfield, where the Su-34 is concentrated.
    Having restrictions on the use of Western means of destruction on the territory of Russia, as well as their insufficient number in terms of supply even for use within the borders of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are trying to get out of the situation on their own and with painful point strikes on the enemy. And it works, because the resource of the Russian Aerospace Forces is not unlimited, especially taking into account the uniqueness of almost all its strategic aviation and limited tactical production.
    For example, Russia cannot produce A-50 aircraft, and therefore, each such loss is comparable to the loss of the missile cruiser "Moscow", which Russian shipbuilders also cannot build. The loss of the Tu-22M3 has become a unique phenomenon, since this aircraft, in principle, could not be shot down, due to its long-range functionality. And if earlier Tu-22M3 felt safe away from the airspace of Ukraine, making X-22 launches, then in 2024 this situation changed.
    A little more than a month ago, Sergei Shoigu boasted that Russia had launched the production of OFAB-3000 heavy air bombs, which immediately began to threaten Ukraine. But the fact is that these bombs, as of now, can only be used by the Tu-22M3, and for this he will have to go into the short range of air Defence systems. Big, clumsy, much closer than when hitting Odessa. What can go wrong?

      MANPADs don't have the range to attack one of those at cruising speed, if happened, would have to be taking off or landing, close to a military base. It would be so sad they couldn't detect a man with a MANPAD next to an military airport.
