  • An Aerojet Rocketdyne RS-25 rocket engine (RS-25 developmental engine E0525) was tested on the Fred Haise Test Stand (formerly A-1 Test Stand) at the John C. Stennis Space Center in Mississippi, on 17 January 2024, at 22:29 UTC (16:29 CST). This was the fourth hot fire test out of the 12 planned in the final round of certification testing ahead of production of an updated set of engines for NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS) that will be used beginning with Artemis V.

I live about 14 miles away and it amazes me every time I'm home to hear these tests. Even with the distance and the large buffer zone, it makes my brick home roll like a bass drum. I love it!

This has been done for decades, clear back to the 1970s,it's a very mature design, updated regularly , and it's one helluva piece of mechanical engineering

In chemistry, the most active chemical reaction is related to how inert and basic the product is.....water is pretty damn inert.....

A machine operated by a computer so precisely that every valve movement has a destroyed engine to explain why it is needed. Starting a rocket engine is amazingly difficult.
