not true. If you have student loans, you hopefully thought ahead and got a good career going. I was able to pay off all my debt (33k) within a year of graduation and my estimated family contribution was $0. They contributed $0 to my debt too. Just advise students to pick a career that is useful.

@Joker M Best wishes for you and yours, friend. You're braver than I am.
Except the rich are generally never in comfort but involved in high stress, high risk assets which employ or invest in the overwhelming majority of the population's jobs and income.
This is completely wrong. It’s like how a robber would be more likely to rob a rich neighborhood than a poor neighborhood. The rich should strive to make the poorer wealthier. That way the poor will have more money to spend on what the rich are selling. People like Bezos want the poor to get wealthier so that they can buy more from Amazon. The govt wants to make the poor wealthier so they pay more taxes. Nobody benefits from keeping people poor.

@@markly5460 It's a small factor. I went to Stanford and it was an amazing experience and helped considerably, but it's not essential for success.
@@markly5460 People severely underestimate how little that matters. Top 20 schools now more than ever are just labels. It’s literally the coping mechanism of shoving this huge, terrifying thing that hangs above your head to the very back of your mind because otherwise it’ll eat you alive and you can do jack shit about it at the moment anyway. And most ppl are so successful at it that it doesn’t even register at first that that debt is still there when asked about it, and then realization hits anew
“I don’t answer phone calls no more, if it’s not in my phone I’m not answering it,” I felt that 😂
im 20k in debt for one semester of college (: had no idea what i was getting into when i went to college so i'm glad i stopped when i did. DON'T go to a university college if you don't need to for your career folks, unless you're rich and can afford going
Lesson: Don't be a student or get sick in America unless you're from a rich family
That’s just objectively not true.
Don’t get me wrong, people can go broke through those things. But it’s largely just not the case. The poor get government assistance and don’t have to pay anything. As a student, and as a patient.
It’s the uneducated lower-middle class that gets screwed. They make too much money to qualify for government assistance. They don’t make enough to actually be able to afford these things. They often make poor choices and elect to get more money in their pocket instead of health insurance. They allow their children to go 100,000 in debt because they’re terrified of their children being uneducated like they are.
The poor have healthcare covered by the government. 100% covered. If you can’t afford your prescriptions there are programs everywhere to get them for free. The poor often do their first two years at community college, and then go to a state school because they understand the value of a dollar.
Large student loan amounts happen for one reason and one reason only: bad choices.
Go to an instate, public school, for your entire bachelors. Get a degree that actually leads to a job. If you’re really smart, save yourself $10-$15k and go to community college for the first two years. But even if you don’t, just going to an instate public school makes your degree reasonable (as long as it leads to a job).
The problem lies where people feel like they need to go to a private school. Or cross state lines and pay higher prices. Or get degrees in majors that don’t lead to jobs. And all of those things are your own person choices. Stop blaming the system and grow TF up
I haven't gotten sick, knock on wood but student loan debt is a joke and an excuse. It's so easy to work while in school and pay it off, I know so many people who have.
My college tuition was $36k and was all paid with scholarships and pell grant. I applied for a lot of scholarships to earn my bachelor's degree, that's something people often ignore.
That’s a misconception, there are cheaper universities that cost $2000 to $5000 per semester that offer financial aid and payment plans which I’m part of and I’m about to graduate without any debt. I made a payment plan each semester and pay it off with my full time job and I’m not rich 🤷♂️. Just look for things you can afford or at least pay off within a few years

He wont give anyone free money unless it benefits him. Why do you think he always donates to fortnite youtubers that are famous? More clicks = more money.
He is a p.o.s i just bought some kid a meal at mcdonalds and all i have is 300 dollars I saw him with mud on his fave sitting back while his friends were all ordering food. I gave him cash and said go ahead and buy yourself food.
Or a David dobrick vlog.
David would literally catch all their debt easy
@@gokermitsewerside358 (assuming you aren't trolling) I mean, there are a few videos where he donated to popular streamers, but the vast majority of his donations are to selfless causes. Numerous vidoes with vast donations to food supply shelters, and such. I probably shouldn't have to list any more, as we are on YT already and you can just check his channel.
I'm so glad to picked a college that gave me the most money for scholarships. I only did 2 years and an out of state university and had $5k in debt when tuition was $40k/year. I did rack up almost $50k on some personal vices and absorbing some family debt, but I am happy to say that all of that debt is paid off. Key thing is to chip away at it and dont allow yourself to take on bad debt.
I'm grateful to say that I've successfully avoided having student debt. That sounds stressful
3:26 : “get hit by a semi truck”
Honestly I’ve been considering that for a while now...
Too real
Been there... Only works if you have a witness on your side otherwise, you end up in more debt.
Yeah. But sadly this merely continues the spiral. Now the semi-truck owner has debt.
This is just a joke. I pray to go that I never have to experience this.
3:11*, idk why you would put the time stamp right after the clip ended tho...
Pay off your credit cards. With your credit cards
Thanos: *Ive used The Stones to Destroy The Stones*
WAIT IS THAT ALLOWED?
You can’t do that. Credit cards don’t accept payment from another credit card. Don’t ask how I know that 😒
Kozen you cannot and should not
@@isabelgarcia3066 Are you serious? Get a lower rate interest credit card (or 0%) and transfer the balance from the existing one to it. Don't get any store cards, the interest rate on them is unbelievable.

It's sad to say that teens these days think they can't go to college without loans. Like it's become a fact. We need to denormalize Student Loans!
i am in highschool an going to collage thanks to a program (PSEO if you want to know) i will leave collage with out debit
Thank you for this! Now I don't feel as bad about my debt. I still get banks calling me to use their cards is maybe it's even lower. Lol

...so, who's got a semi truck ??
If you do liberal arts then you deserve it

Sooooo I’m assuming those people with zero debt don’t own a home? Also, no one mentioned car loans. Interesting.
At first I was like I have no debt but then i remembered our car loans rv loan and mortgage
Correct, they rent, they don’t own their homes. This is how many, many people live in America.
It’s unclear whether they view car loans as debt or simply an expense (since the car can easily get repossessed). But it is also quite possible that they do not have a car, or have a paid-off car.
@@asmodiusjones9563 A car loan is definitely debt, and not good debt either. Why would anybody think otherwise?
@@gent2205 I agree it is debt but not everyone understands finance very well. A car loan might be the only secured debt some people have. If you stop paying your electric bill, the power shuts off. If you stop paying your car loan, they take your car back (and you don’t have to keep paying). Compare that to credit card debt in which there is no way to get out of it. Also, if people have only ever had loans and never owned a car outright, paying monthly is just part of car “ownership”.
I am not disputing it is debt but that is how some people might not think of car loans right away when they think of debt.
@@asmodiusjones9563 I can see that perspective I guess. Thanks for the clarification.
The last few seconds of this video got a laugh out of me.
The amount of debt some of these people have would honestly keep me up at night.
Dont buy a house then
My dad has over 200k in student debt...
I would fake my own death and flee to Mexico
Me too.
@@johnnywaffles2482 Depends.
Where do you live and where do you want to built your house?
It's sad that student loan debt has surpassed credit card debt in the US. College should be a part of the American Dream, not a financial nightmare.
@Beyond Tribalism sir you dropped your brain somewhere I suggesting finding it
The sky’s the limit for tuition when society makes people think college is a necessity. So many jobs could be done with on the job training, and not just trade jobs. And colleges alway make you pay for classes you don’t need. Always. Talk about inefficient and wasteful. People are getting way oversold at college with stupid classes. The high tuitions will end when people start forgoing college due to it being too expensive and inefficient.
Well you’re pretty stupid to go to college on loans JUST SAYIN
Well maybe one shouldn’t get a sociology or gender studies major and go to an in-state school to study business, engineering, medicine, or law
The Maestro well maybe you’re stupid
I have never felt more good about myself 😂
The amount of people on this that said they have no debt is nearly statistically impossible. They probably weren't counting car payments or credit cards as debt.
Not impossible 😅.if you always take care of your spending then you could have no debt
People from rich families etc. Not sure where you're getting your statistics, but it seems pretty plausible to me. Also they are younger, so may not be having to pay for that much.
52 definitely not wealthy it is possible on any wealth bracket
They are just young and paid their car cash & don't spend if they don't need, like me😛
that fact that most people are in debt for trying to get educated and staying healthy :(
Comment section: *(Europeans have entered the chat)*
Lol truth
in europe, being sick sucks... in america, it makes you poor jesus wtf
Here in Brazil too, it's sad that the corruption takes almost all the money, but we have it for free
Strait facts
And me as an Australian ! We have free healthcare and in some circumstances education as well
I need this
Yaaaa.... when you see how many people are up to their eyeballs in debt because of medical costs, I'm so glad to be Canadian. In the last 20 years I've had regular checkups, visits for various illnesses, and 3 surgeries and I've had to pay a total of about $36 for parking.
My goodness...
I am always surprised with how American people are so chill about their creditcard debts. You can't spend money that you don't have.
Same omg. That's why I never use credit cards. Bc in the future if I want to take a loan from the bank to buy house etc. banks check the debt list and that's scary
@@SandraKossinova In the US, you need good credit to take a loan from a bank to buy a house, so you have to use a credit card
@@SandraKossinova I assume you live in the US? I just want to remind you that banks check your credit score, credit history, etc when you want to take out a loan for a house. If you have NEVER had a credit card or borrowed money in your name, you likely do not even have credit history -- which is actually really bad. You can't prove to the banks you are good with paying back money if you have never borrowed money. The goal is NOT to not use credit cards. The goal is to only spend what you can afford and REPAY the balance in full every month before the due date, which incurs zero interest. You can even make multiple payments a month to keep the balance low. By doing so, you establish a good credit history of paying back money.
@@edwink1467 No, I don't live in the US :D
But that's good to know. In Estonia (EU) we don't have to have credit card history to take loans from the bank
@@SandraKossinova I see. Then you are fine haha
I really dont get the whole "buying things i dont have the money for" thing
Same. I have a debit(?) card that I can only but stuff with if I have money on it. Like, I cannot go in debt bc my card will just be declined if I try to buy sth
It makes sense if the purchase will help with attaining more money. For example, buying an appreciating asset with debt such as a home. Or buying car with debt so you could get to a job that pays more, or commute from a neighborhood that has lower rent. The car payment can be $500 a month but if rent is cheaper by $1000 a month you are saving $500 by taking on debt.
ssaeteurn1 i agree with that obviously, just don’t understand that some people buy things they genuinely don’t need, like expensive clothes and stuff.
@@mysticalcoyote right! i don't even have a debit card bc if i don't have enough in cash then i don't need that item. my car is in my dad's name and i went to community college so i have no debt from there, either.
Well sometimes people need to buy things or something pops up unexpectedly and you can’t really help it.

That's what I was thinking lmao
I was thinking the same thing. Big whoop, $80,000 in debt! It's almost like the primary audience of this video is people who don't own homes or really utilize credit.
yeah that's because this generation is busy barely surviving in an apartment with multiple jobs
Seriously!! I was thinking the exact same thing. Between my house, boat, truck, and wife/kid expenses; I'm at a bit over $400k. Which is great in all reality. If they wanna see how average Americans are in terms of debt, they need to move away from who they are sampling and sample people who own a home and/or have a family (kids, etc.).
