  • In this video I compare the S20 Ultra and the Note20 Ultra for Astrophotography.
    I find essentially they are the same and I go through some of the new settings that I found
    to work better since my last video as well as some techniques and BTS from my shoot to show you how I shot and edited the photo you see in the thumbnail.
    Tripod Phone Mount: I personally am now using a Sunway Mobile phone holder (amzn.to/3jmAtjz) which I really can recommend enough. It can naively mount in most Arca style tripods or has screw holes 1/4″ and 3/8″ to support base plates or direct mounts.

    Loved the video! And to answer your question, I have tried astrophotography using my phone (S20+) but I failed miserably due to how windy it was and how the tripod I wss using wouldn't stay still, but I still managed to get a few good pics, so it wasn't all for nothing, I did learn a lot from this video and I'm gonna use these tips the next time I go somewhere dark, keep it up!

    I tried some astro with my S20 Ultra and used lightroom to edit, managed to capture a couple of shooting stars of the geminid meteor shower, so that's already success for me, only downside is that i missed the focus in some of the pics, next time i will try 2 stops from the end, and you mentioned in the video, my wife and sister in law were using the galaxy S10+ and S9+ so i did a comparison between the three phones that i posted in reddit, but the bigger sensor on the S20U really makes a difference!

    I've only shot star/milky way once with my S20 Ultra. it was after I watched a video from another CZcamsr about it. I did my very first night hike ever! up Mt. Morgan (NH USA) and got some incredible sunset shots, then stuck around for the stars. Played with settings and finally arrived with some shots I liked, unfortunately there was considerable light pollution from some of the cities near Lake Winnipesaukee. I used a free raw converter online (forgot which) before a guy I was helping at work mentioned using Lightroom mobile which is now installed. I'd like to go up in the winter right now and get some of the Orion Cluster but the weather & moon aren't cooperating, also cell phones die in very cold temps. I set up the phone to take pics on verbal command: "capture" so I wouldn't be touching the phone.
    do you think the S21 Ultra is superior to the S20 Ultra? I'd think it'd be great for a tutorial on how to use Lightroom Mobile.

    Hey so I have a note 10 plus and since my phone has the dual aperture I'm able to change the aperture from 2.4fp to 1.8fp. And I have shot a lot of photos of the stars. I've gone to the beach to take photos of the stars and I added some light painting with my older sister and brother in law. I really want to learn more tips and tricks from you to be able to take photos of the milky way. I usually set up my shutter at 30sec and my ISO in between 80-125. But I've noticed that you set up your ISO really high, why is that don't you get a very white and ugly photo? Please teach me more about astrophotography bc soon I will be upgrading my phone to either the s21 ultra or the Note 20 ultra

    • @robmulally
      @robmulally  Před 3 lety

      There was a big(main) sensor update between the note 10 and I think the s20 so I think that will contribute to it! You may have heard of it the pixel binning tech I've mentioned in a few videos. The 108 mpixels are used in sets of 9 to give a 12mp photo. But don't fear! All the hard work you have done practing will just get easier on the new phones or a camera!
