contractors go nuts when ppl change their minds, add windows, etc. in the middle of work. I had a friend who had to put a sheet of drywall in a 3rd floor bathroom in a narrow house.....the floors had already been done so he had to cut the holes for taps and spouts in the basement. Which meant that not only did he have to calculate where the holes should go, but which way to turn the sheet to start up the stairs so they could put it in the right place, because there was no where else that was wide enough to turn the sheet around. He and his helper where half way up the second flight of stairs when the wife said......"can you make the spout come up 6 inches lower? I have trouble reaching it....." (his answere? NO!!)

Same. My guess is she started with a small job for him, and then added more projects to it.
When questioned defendant started to say a window was put in after contractor was fired, but JJ interrupted defendant and defendant shut her mouth because she just realized that the picture in question wasn’t truly how job looked after termination.

The defendant seems kinda delusional but I will say, as a contractor, if you know you can't get walls and windows remodeled in two weeks, don't agree to that? It was an unreasonable request on her part but I'm confused as to whether he agreed to that timeline and if so, why

Never take the contractors word of the amount of time they say it will take to complete a job. Two weeks equals arleadt two months.....definitely shouldn't have taken 5 months though

Just a question but is there a rule or law that says that the plaintiff/defendant is NOT supposed to approach the judge or is that just a Judge Judy rule? I’ve always wondered why parties aren’t allowed to approach the bench
Because you never know who will get violent with a judge. The only authorized parties, usually, are lawyers and witnesses. And, either the judge tells you to approach the bench, or you request to approach the bench. No one is allowed to just walk straight up there.
The bench area is considered to be the sacred territory of the judge, so permission to come near the bench must be given.
It has nothing to do with the risk of violence as it equally applies to lawyers and in the civil courts, where there is no such risk.
Lawyers are allowed to approach, with permission, to quietly speak to a judge out of earshot of the jury, provided the other lawyer for the opposition is also present. It happens rarely - way less often than on television. The judge and lawyers are more likely to meet in the judge’s chambers.
Witnesses are never allowed to approach the bench.
Please ALWAYS UPDATE YOUR CONTRACT & ALWAYS TAKE BEFOE AND AFTER PHOTOS OF YOUR WORK DAILY!
Because it becomes a someone said and someone else said this… I don’t always see contractors win when they don’t update contracts or take their own photos.
Defendant was thinking “oh I can’t get anymore money for a loan to pay you. So you’ll do the exact same job you would have done for the same price right?”
Plaintiff: “sure but we’ll have to do less in other places and make it work for your budget.”
Well when it comes time to get paid, defense didn’t want to and nothing was written into a contract.

The defendant sounds like she kept changing the scope of the work. She say she buys foreclosure, that means she flips them doing minimal work to them( like lipstick on a pig) she probably screws contractors out of their fee all the time. I could be wrong , we’ll see what part two brings us. Oh yeah she fired the contractor so why is he taking her to court, if his work was that bad she would have had him in court first. She’s just trying to bang him out of $1000 bucks!

JJ would never put up ;with that kind of shoddy work, why should she expect others to? sometimes JJ is out to lunch. she won't listen, she thinks she knows even before people testify, and sometimes she just isn't fair. But i still like watching, don't know why.
