      Well if you saw me and Anisha planting ours, on a small scale doing it by hand is ok perse, but my father always tries to preserve as much as possible and grow more. His little invention is a life saver haha who knew a bit of old down pipe would come in handy 🤣

  • @lifeiswhatyoumakeit5505

    That potato planter is the MARK 1 model.

  • @WelshfamilylivinginBulgaria

    i,m curious as to what id /you guys ever do with that many potatoes? i had a small half allotment in the UK and it took me ages to get through about 20 plants worth of potatoes,,,,, i love potatoes though and am planning to grow some in B on a much smaller scale...but your ideas on how you"d store excess etc would be welcome...... 🙂

      So in our garden we Planted 100, which should see us through winter and into the following spring. My father plants for himself and also for his birds, ducks, geese and ducks and now recently turkey haha so the potato gets mixed with their normal feed.
      Keeping them in the basements in a ventilated crate or box in a dark room seems to allow them to stay edible for absolutely ages! Not a lot of preserving perse 🙂

      @@MarkandAnisha great tip on storage there - we have plenty of 'ventilation' in one of our old barns and very dark in there - I'll give that a try then when I eventually plant up a few pots....not for a few years though yet - gotta get the house liveable before I can finally move out there permanentlly.... and good to know what you can feed ducks/geese etc as i didn't know that. On an aside good to hear from your dad on the vids - he is probably more of a similar age so interesting to see how he just gets on with things - very practical and a real 'doer'...

      @@daisydawson4927 We didn't really do much research to be honest, we just saw what our neighbours did and copied and it worked haha. they are better with a bit of soil dusting and having been cured, not washed is best for long term storage.
      Well he will have a bit more of an increased appearance to share his story very soon 😊

    Did it cover the potatoes over after you dropped them down the Shute?

    • @MarkandAnisha
      @MarkandAnisha  Před rokem

      It carves a channel using an arrow shaped blade under the seat area, the potato drops into the Chanel, then the two side plates re-push the carved soil back over the potato to make a mound instead. The potatoes end being almost 5" below original level. It's not perfect, but it works haha
