    Nice job on the digger. Appreciate you taking the time to explain the mechanism. My Russian wasn't good enough to under stand most of the other videos on you tube. Thanks from New York

    True pioneer spirit ! Amazing what one can do with scrap, i am a hoarder of these things too. built a pto driven pressure washer to debark trees and a logging arch. Keep up the good works, a potato digger is for sure a worthwhile machine to build and to have around !

    Man thats a slick digger!! The prices i'm seeing online in 2023 is around $2k-3k plus shipping. I've come to realize that if we slow down life turns out not to so complicated after all.
    Great Job 👏👏👏

    This reminds me of what my father can do with all his old scrap. Fantastic job. Love the channel. Especially love your story telling, as you go, sprinkled with the myriad of fun vernacular common to you but amusing me. Top example, 'wobbly pops'. Keep it up. You're crushing

    I really like your creation and explanation there of. That’s my style of creativity. I usually design my projects based on what material I have on hand.
    I’ve seen several of the videos like you described which I assume are Russian and I don’t understand anything but the visual parts.
    I’ve been scheming for a couple years , planning to make one very similar except to be used for removing small rocks from my garden. I’m planning to maybe use expanded metal mesh for the screening, and hoping the rocks will actually move out the back like your potatoes. And I’d like to have a basket affair to catch the rocks.
    Thanks for sharing and doing a good job of showing details and explaining everything! Keep up the good work.

    Great series of videos, watched many of the russian versions too and finally got my own version built, it works, but not quite as well as i was hoping, i know the issue i think i don't have enough agitation on the digger shoe so soil tends to build up more than i want at the front and sometimes i have to stop and clear it, but its so much better than digging with a fork!👍

    Excellent, you made something useful from almost nothing. I am very interested in the pivot points. Specifically the spacing and how you decided where they should be. I suspect that if its wrong it would shake the potatoes forward instead of backward. I recommend a thread locking compound for most of the bolts on it.

    Awesome! Thank you some much for introducing me to Patty. I love her. I planted 2-50ft rows this year in my garden. Now that I've figured out how to save potatoes so they don't rot or grow I'm growing I'll be growing LOTS of spuds.. I'll be working on my own Patty this winter if not sooner. What's your Accent? Irish? I live in Western upstate NY. What part of the world are you located?

      You're welcome!! Hopefully you can cobble one together. I know from experience what it's like to dig that many potatoes with a fork or spade!! As for my location, look north and east. Just south of St. John’s, Newfoundland. Almost as far east as you can get in North America

    Cheers From Mark In Kentucky. I was really intrigued by “Paddy” and all of the work that you had to do to get it working right. I like you have watched several videos of the potato diggers, especially the old antique diggers that were actually repurposed horse drawn implements adapted to be tractor drawn. I really like the 3 point PTO concept rather than the extra wheels and the extra headache of having to maneuver the thing around. I was wondering how long that you worked to get Paddy working right. Anything is better than digging the potatoes by hand. When I was a kid, My dad used to borrow a tractor with a 3 point “Potato Plow” which worked okay if done right like anything else you know. The 8n Fords or the Ferguson tractors seemed to be really good from what I remember. Where are you located.?

    • @foggylanegarden
      @foggylanegarden  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Thanks!! Took me about 2 full weeks to build, and about 2 30ft rows of spuds to fine tune it.
      It came down to the length of the rear shaker arms, and watching and rewatching footage in slow motion. Then adjusting the length of the arms.
      I live on the extreme east coast of Canada in beautiful Newfoundland.
