It's so interesting to have this around you. I live on long Island, NY US and have frequently scouted out sites like Camp Hero at Montauk point, since the 80's. Spent many hours at an old Telephunken radio site in Sayville ... Great stuff folks

It's good to see chain home still serving as cell phone towers! I always love seeing the old technology. I never thought that the chain home Towers might have had aircraft avoidance beacons during the war.

What you’ll find is old radar sites were built on the best sites, when a network are about building its network they often use old survey maps and learn you don’t have to look much further then just get a map of all the chain radar stations to get an suggestion of great sites. It’s almost like someone did the work for you 80 years ago.

I know this site well, there are two large concrete horizontal sliding doors on runners, large spiral metal staircase going down 30ft to the main control rooms. The doors are rusted shut but I found another emergency exit a distance away to access it via long tunnel.

There is a good chance when the site was active it wasn't actually in a wood.... With all those concrete bases the farmer will of kept off it.... A bit like on the airfields where drains etc are in the field the farmer leaves that area..... Bit like RAF Burn with the underground bunker..... farmer never goes near it . Excellent vid, guessing this was after you left me.

In the video Chris made the comment several times that it would not make sense for a road to just stop if there was nothing there and of course in this video that turned out to be logical because you obviously did find some very interesting remains there. However just for future reference keep in mind that there is precedent for locations that were hidden or camouflaged to ensure that the trails and roads that led to them continued on well past them and that was make it difficult for aerial reconnaissance to pinpoint the location of the hidden sites by simply looking to see where a road stopped. In some cases there were paved roads or Jeep trails that basically wound around areas but actually led to nothing in particular and were built & maintained simply as an effort to confuse enemy aircraft and aerial image interpreters.

There is nothing more suspicious than three blokes in cammo looking suspicious. What is the worst that can happen? Tell you to do one or use you as mating stock for the locals. Enjoyable if just for the paranoia. Surely there must be old MOD maps from WW2 and after detailing locations etc? Why did the cops stop you this time?

I suspect the old white smiley transit with the banana engine being the favourite mode of transport for the often ginger usually guilty of something "travelling community" might explain the plod pulls. I would assume the same if I saw you on the roads. Just scream "D'yer like daargs?" in the coppers face next time it happens. They'll either laugh or pepper spray you.
