The game actually playing the full Aether animation when the first hit would kill is so satisfying.
Bonus points for bugging out and giving Ike effectively one regular Sol strike and one Luna Strike with Sol's HP regen.

There are only 5 enemies who damaged Ike in this video. This is a subtle nod to the total of 5 characters who can actually damage Ashnard.

By technicality, there's 6 who could. Ike, Nasir, Tibarn, Giffca, and Naesala, and the technicality is Ena, whose Breath pierces the blessing but who usually won't have the stats to actually fight a round of combat with Ashnard.

Damn son, Ike is so much of a gigachad that he can dodge a lightning bolt by just slightly moving to the right.
Well in real life the best dodges are small/shortand fast movements. Big moves are easily predicted or telegraphed and dodges fail to avoid damage 🤷♂️

The dialogues in PoR were truly brilliant, they gave personalities even to minor bosses.
It's interesting that Ike has conversations with...ALMOST every boss. Feels like if they were going to go so far, they should have done it for all. The three that were missed were Kayachey, Kasatai, and (most surprisingly) Shiharam. (note: I'm counting Heddwyn because even though Ike doesn't speak, it's clearly a unique conversation and is meant for Heddwyn attacking Ike from a distance)
I believe Shiharam DOES have a unique battle conversation with Ike but only if Jill is out on the field as well. Ike will ask him to stop the fighting and close the floodgates only for him to reply that they can only be closed should one of them fall. Shiharam will then feel relief that his daughter will be safe knowing who her new general is like.

Ashnard was really something, I don't think it's possible to deafeat him without healing Ike (except with the funny combo)
Yup, it is extremely unlikely for Ike to solo Ashnard (unless you get insanely lucky), he has to have the support of his allies, either through the Royal laguz attacking Ashnard, your healers healing Ike or your Heron Galdr-ing Ike

I just realised, Aether seemed to be bugged, because the Luna hit also restored some hp to Ike, well, at least when foes reach 0 HP
We can see it against ashnard, Ike recovers 6 HP when Ashnard only had 3 left...interesting

I love how all the normal attack animations in this game are stiff and awkward and kind of lame but then every now and then you get Aether and it's the hypest shit imaginable
Maijin, the Daein commander that made the single biggest mistake of the whole war.
I do think Ashnard is the best final boss, at least gameplay-wise. You cannot OTKO him and every battle is really stressful, but at the same time, with careful planning, you can beat him.

I remember my battle with 2nd phase ashnard I just hit a double aether crit and the fight was over
I always like Ike's animations in PoR over RD (how they managed to fk up is beyond me to be honest)
They are literally the same aside for the ranged sword attacks.
I actually feel the same, PoR's attack animation has weight in it while RD's feel like dolls bumping into each other

I used an FE9 randomizer to change Ike's starting class, so I'm not sure what the AR code would be.

Ike uses the Lord class, but he is referred to as 'General' following his promotion in Chapter 18:
