- I discuss Rhode Island, Wargaming's newest combination of insane greed and modern battleship design. Apparently, we can make a battleship better at HE farming than most cruisers, give it insane speed and tanking, and slap a radar on top, but the BB playerbase is so used to playing lot bots the ship is mid because it "has no armor and the AP sucks."
Rhode Island basically combines the super-heavy cruiser playstyle of ships like PR, Marseille etc, but because it is a BB it has literally none of the problems those ship types have. Neat!
In this video we will see just how terrible an idea it is to engage in extended fights against other ships (trust).

These videos are great, please keep making them! The only reasonable conclusion to draw about balancing in this game is that WG just don't really care about it very much, the rock paper scissors stone thing is just pretty broken, even though we all know that is one of the parts of the game that is most interesting. Like, is there any reason to play a cruiser these days apart from just because you're a masochist?
Thanks, and I pretty much agree. It's very telling that "strong cruisers" are all OLD cruisers. It's a recent development. People cry about Petro and other armored cruisers but even the strongest heavy cruisers have virtually zero ability to 1v1 kill almost any battleship.
Wait till we get Kentucky. T10 Illinois with an extra turret.

You realize Kentucky was an Iowa hull and only had 3 main barbets right? your not getting another turret on there

@@BigD321 First of all, when did I say I wanted it? It would be unbalanced as hell, even if it somehow wasn't good they'd run it though the box 'O gimmicks until it was
Second, there was a design for Kentucky that called for 4 quad 8"/55 turrets (SCB-19's scheme 'H') and a design that called for 2 quad 8"/55 turrets (SCB-19's scheme 'F'). Granted these schemes call for a revised superstructure that "Illinois" (SCB-19's scheme 'G') doesn't have in game but the designs still exist.

Really been enjoying these videos, this is exactly the kind of WOWS content I love, very G4ng like.
this ship really emphasizes the endemic in cruisers; this ship is the best cruiser we've gotten in ages and its not even a cruiser. And the fact that they're double dipping with selling it for real money again is just flat out insulting, this should never be the case, not for a tier 10.
I really hope that your speculation is right and that it is released for a resource later down the pipeline because I would really like to own this ship, but regardless the precedent has already been set that they're willing to pull this shit.
On a different note tho, what are looking to cover next? Komissar just fully came out and its pretty interesting, or maybe some of the other steel BBs since you've already covered 2 of them. Have you thought about doing tier lists, ranking tier 10s class by class.
Also, didn't you have a Cerberus review? Can't seem to find it anywhere now, unless Im imagining it.
Thanks. I did have areview of Cerberus but the audio was so bad you basically couldn't hear anything.
As far as next not sure. I don't have all the steel ships, might do Bungo and Vincent to close out the newer stupid BBs and move on to gunboats.

Vincent and Bungo would be good to see! Might I suggest throwing in Schlieffen too? Shes a couple years old but she’d round up all the tier 10 battlecruisers; You’ve covered Lauria, Incomp, Rhode Island and then soon to be Bungo and Vincent. Wisconsin also kinda fits into there, like shes technically not a battlecruiser but kinda is one in a game sense.
I also think Schlieffen was kind of the start of these new breed of battleships, but I could be off on that.
Food for thought at the very least. Outside of Rhode Island and Incomp, because they’re *different*, pretty much all of these new battlecruisers have been better than their traditional battleship counterpart, like Schlieffen is objectively better than GK/Preussen, same goes for Vincent to Conqueror, Lauria to Colombo and Wisconsin to Montana. This one feels like its more controversial, but I feel like Bungo is better than Yamato, it feels illegal to say but the conceal and accuracy alone are such massive advantages.
Sorry for rambling but I feel like its an interesting point to bring up.
How is the fires per min compared to playing conquerer?
Not a straightforward answer but I'll try. Base, Conq has 11.5 F/min and RI has 10.1 Conq will always take reload in slot 6 upgrade so really its more like 13 fires/min for Conq and 10 for RI. BUT, Rhode Island is SIGNIFICANTLY more accurate than Conqueror, which fires/min stat doesn't account for. Realistically, in my experience, they start nearly identical number of fires.
I'm calling it for a while now. It's the best T10 BB and more like T11 or T12
I still think many like Lauria, Wisconsin, Incomp are better. But it's certainly hands down the best "super heavy cruiser" design in the game.
