- Follow along to learn how to make a pillow or cushion cover with piping! Sew your own DIY home decor, decorating your home yourself will save you money and you can custom create to suit your aesthetic!
We start by teaching you two techniques to make piping, then how to attach them to your cushion/pillow, finishing the join neatly, then adding a zip, finishing and overlocking for a professional finish. Easily apply these techniques to other projects such as clothing or costumes
Cutting your piping: We cut 6.5cm strips for our piping. We double our seam allowance (2.5cm), then add the circumference of our piping cord (ours is approximately 1.5cm, but it's wise to measure yours before beginning).

Thank you for an xcellent video but as a newcomer to sewing just wish I could follow it all. The music and noise is making it so difficult at some crucial points. Your techniques make it look so easy but really need to hear all you are saying.

The best video on how to do this I have found ..but I have to agree the sound is not so good....the music is very annoying...wish I could hear the instructions a bit clearer ...Your obviously near a busy road...

Hi, I followed this technique step by step. I sew the zipper on to the piped edge first like you have but when I go to sew the zipper onto the other face I am left with a bunch of extra fabric at the end where the zips meet. Why is this? My two pieces of fabric are cut to the same size.

The fabric stretched. This happens when you tug a little bit too much.
When I first started sewing as a teenager I would probably pull one fabric layer more than the other and would wonder what had happened 😳 😮😊
