    Thanks so much for producing this video! My daughter's CX-7 driver-side window was lowering but chattering and failing to come up. The problem turned out to be broken teeth on the large gear in the motor assembly which I replaced after viewing other videos on CZcams. (Apparently a common Mazda problem...) Nevertheless, your video was superb in showing all the steps needed to access and repair the window mechanism. Folks like you allow us DIY'ers to save so much money.

    This video was awesome. I created a hand written "cheat sheet" on paper with each step you showed, followed it perfectly, and had a successful and fulfilling result. The only change I'd make would be to install the three self-tapping screws (that secure the motor to the regulator's plastic holes) while the inner panel is still disconnected so you can put enough pressure on the self-tapping screws with the added back-pressure to get them to start digging in. Otherwise a perfect video. Finished the entire process yesterday in less than three hours, taking my time to make sure all was just right. Today it is raining and I have a perfectly functioning window. Thank you very much!

    Great video! My window was grinding and I had to help it at 3 spots in it's path. I had a pretty good idea of what it was... I had my garage take a look and they told me it would be about $700 to fix. Watching this, I knew I would be able to handle it easily. $65 in parts and 40 min in my driveway later... All better! Thanks again!

    This is probably the best instructional car repair video I have seen. You take your time, explain every step, and show what you're doing. You don't assume anyone knows
    where something is or what something does and you take the time to explain. I would say just about anyone could follow along and replace their motor and/or regulator
    and save themselves a ton of money in labor costs. Great job! I wish more videos were so easy to follow!

    While installing the window motor it didn't line up right and fooling around with it the next thing I know my regulator became unwound; wires and springs everywhere. After a few hours I managed to put the regulator back together (no easy task) but after that I was lost. This video really saved me! I put everything back together but then the window came off the track and I had to break it down again, but finally I got it right. I kept coming back to this video and watching it again and again. I had three of those around the house anyway you can use those two suction cups to hold the window up so you don't have the issue of removing the gum and if he's it from the tape. That clicking or grinding sound as you call it is the gear reduction unit on the motor gone bad. I didn't see where the regulator was bad. At 12:04 you have the old regulator in your hand and it is intact, I have not seen a bad regulator that is still intact with no broken cables or where the gear is not out of the housing with cables hanging and springs released. I am pretty sure you either replaced the motor or replaced the gear in your existing motor to get the window working again. That being said I have to say your video is better than anything else I have seen on here. To anyone that is doing the passenger side please be advised there are 2 screws behind the OH SHIT handle that have to be removed to remove the door panel; there is a cover that pops off with a little attention.

    Just a heads up. If your window is grinding and getting stuck in place, in one spot every time, yet you can help it up and down to get it to "work" the weak spot in these vehicles is in the motor itself where a plastic/nylon gear strips, not the regulator. I was about to replace the entire regulator and motor and ran across this info. 2 years of helping my window up and down and it took about 20 minutes to fix for like 30 bucks. Should have done it sooner.

    So I was changing out just the window motor and as I was screwing it in I felt the screws push in a bit so I stopped and hung the door panel on the door so I could get a tool to hold the back end in place. I had kept everything attached except the motor as I read many comments that people did this and it was quick and easy. Well, my driveway is on a slant and my door closed and I heard click. It is slightly ajar and won't open or close from the inside or outside. The handles have no resistance when I pull but u can still move the lock button manually a bit, but not fully. I think the door handle cables must have pulled too far even though I just had the panel resting on my knee. Can I fix this without removing the panel? Otherwise I may have to remove the seat to lift the panel again and at that point I'll just take it to the shop.

    • @melissacairns1233
      @melissacairns1233 Před 5 lety

      So, I tried using the inside door handle to pull the cables to unlatch the door to no avail, in fact it would barely budge through the opening. My husband came home from work and at a loss just began locking and unlocking the door using the automatic switch on a different door and then trying to pull the door open. Third time was a charm! Turns out the cables on the back of the inner door handle had slipped out if the notches causing the cable to shorten. Slipped them back in and door is now fixed!

I feel positive that I could do it myself but I have no help and so I don't want to screw it up..... so I'm going to have to pay somebody to do it and I was wondering where you got your part. judging by your video apparently since the window does work that I only need the regulator..... am I right? Anywho if you could let me know where you got your part for $80 as this dealership I got a quote from wants to charge me like five times that are maybe more and that's ridiculous. Try "remove the bolt" instead of "loosen", for crying out loud!!!!!!

    Does the piece that moves up and down on regulator attach to the clips on the window? Or the clips just will sit on it?

      The regulator has clips/notches for the window to sit on. Those are bolted onto the tabs on the bottom of the window.
