Honestly I’d use the Garfield tank for plants be it land or water plants! It’s super cute but as you said and I agree, no actual animals. Maybe sea monkeys actually with Java moss? Idk if actually have to research it

I used to have Gerbils as a kid and they're wonderful pets. They're super cute and seeing them bathe in sand is hilarious. They can also be litterbox trained which helps with cleaning
Gerbils are cute little things, and boy can they hop when they have the zoomies. We had a pretty hand tamed little black and white boy for a brief time. He had at least three white toes, two on a back foot and one on his little hands.
Omg I have that exact same Garfield tank. I bought it off a lady for $50 in a Wendy's parking lot. He watches over me while I sleep. It was made in the 80s and they're worth like $300 on eBay

@@Leosloth2011 As an Australian I can assure you that Australia is an island country and is more than 4000 kilometres from New Zealand, separated by the Tasman sea, they are 2 different countries. While most don't, even those that consider Australia as a 'continent', by definition a continent is 1 land mass, and Australia and New Zealand don't share any borders, with both being islands.

I once ended up with 32 gerbils. My two gerbils weren't both girls like the pet store said and I wasn't a knowledgeable or responsible 12yo gerbil keeper.
so one of them was a boy and they had babies? Some pet stores can’t tell pet genders :/

@@CapitalLuke a tank too smol for a beta, never gets cleaned, filter is broken and cheap, gets fed lil pellets when she remembers too- has 2 decorations, a new fake plant and an old castle which is literally caked in fish poop- the guy just keeps on surviving shfsdfhdshf and they plan to get an axolotyl and put it in his tank when he dies-
he's also always sick and just sits in the corner all day waiting for food coz its the only time anyone gives him attention-

We have an oscar in a 75 gallon tank. Hes getting huge and is a little personality filled piggy. We also have a 55 gallon tank upstairs with a goldfish and a few danios sinxe they are schooling fish and thrive in the same temp water but that is my daughters tank. She ALWAYS wanted a goldfish so she chose emily from our local fish store (not a petsmart or petco).

That makes me sad, I love plecos! I've got a clown pleco in my 29 gallon tank and he is definitely my favorite. Lousy when it comes to cleaning algae, but I knew that when I bought him.

Gerbils should not be kept in grid cages. They love shewing on things, and might end up shewing on the metal grid, which could seriously harm their teeth. Gerbils are also very active, and climbes a lot, when climbing a grid cage they can easily break legs, hands, feet or toes. They also have long (beautiful) tails, that in worst case, could stick out between the bars and by the next jump or sudden move, breaks.
Gerbils should always be kept in glass cages/ aquariums or as I once had, a big plastic see through box with had a big hole taken out of the lid, and replaced with chicken-wire. These enclosures also gives you a lot of place for fillings and nestlings. Since gerbils in their natural habitat dig long an complicated nests, you should fill up the enclosures, (almost half of it!) with for example wood shavings which can easily be formed into nests. I also learned from the breeder to make layers, like a lasagna!
Big stones and tree roots in the bottom, cover with the shavings.
A layer of cardboard (were good for shewing), fill with shavings and so on.

It's only a tiny bit of their topper that can be seen in the post, not their whole enclosure, they have a 133l bin cage underneath the topper filled with 12 inches of bedding and toys, soon to be upgraded to a 250l glass tank with topper 😁
Basic cages are not good for them though as the base is too shallow, but toppers can work great and provide extra space for digging and enrichment ☺️ bar biting and climbing are stress behaviours and generally not performed by most gerbils that have adequate space, bedding and enrichment, although barred floors are definitely a problem because they could slip on them and break legs/feet 🙁
Also, bedding lasagnas are my favourite kind of lasagna 100% 🥰
You could probably put shrimp or some veryyyyyy small animals in it like shrimp monkey shrimp like yeah I’m talking about the Garfield tank

Hello I’ve been watching you for a very long time I love your videos and how do you tell people how not to do things that are bad but I am getting an axolotl the tank is a 46 gallon tank I’m just wondering can you give me some tips and is the tank big enough
I’m not her but I have two very healthy ones myself. The tank is a very good size (the bare minimum for one axolotl is 20 gallons). I’m going to assume your getting a younger one so it’s best you feed it live food and if it’s something like an earthworm you should cut it up into smaller pieces so it doesn’t choke (cutting it into four pieces is recommended). You should cycle the tank for at least a month and make sure check the waters chemical levels (you can buy water testers in most pet stores). Do you have any other questions?
