@@shinixb.6500 it is exactly what p2w is like, when you pay to get a way better version of something that you could get for free.
Furataka and Aoba arent rly bad, but they are worse and rly struggle in all the uptiers to 6.0 and 6.3 they see currently.

Well, i'm here from you other video since you replied to my comment and suggested to check this out- solid video. If someone is interested in a premium IJN ship, I'd go for this over the Mikuma. While the Mikuma is quite a good ship, the battle rating can see a lot of uptiers into 7.0 where it can really struggle depending on the map and team arrangement. Conversely, the Myoko can only go to 6.7 (in my experience with the British 5.7 lineup, these uptiers are far less common as people seem to play the top ships rather than the 6.3/6.7 battleships). Moreover, the lineup around the Myoko is quite good- the Furutaka and Aoba provide some competent alternatives while the Ikoma can be a capable early battlecruiser in the right hands/match. Not to mention, with the exception of the Ikoma, you can build that lineup a lot quicker than you can scrape together a proper 6.0 spread for the Mikuma. Cheers.
5.7 is the probably the best cruiser BR for any nation to avoid to the 7.0 uptier as you mentioned.
I rarely if ever see an uptier at that BR and it's much more enjoyable than it used to be.
The 6.0 cruisers are fun but sometimes an enemy team stacked with BB's is your fate. 🤣

Great video. As someone who bought Mikuma for 50% off back in November (almost at Kongo now) it sickens me that this new one is 5.7 when the tech tree equivalent, and Mikuma, are 6.0. Meanwhile the tech tree Japanese cruisers Furutaka and Aoba both only have 6 guns and should really be 5.3. And Tone with 8 guns is 6.0. Putting Myoko at 5.7 is blatantly to make it more appealing while its new and full price. While all the rest of the cruisers are overtiered.
This is a Myoko class cruiser and there is no tech tree equivalent yet. The Mikuma is a Mogami Class cruiser, it has a better and thicker armor layout and twice as many long lance torpedos.
The Japanese Heavy cruisers used to dominate the early match making and are justified at their 6.0.
5.7 is the perfect place for this ship, it's powerfully armed but it's Citadel is only 4 inches so it's not that thick. Compared to Mogami with 140mm citadel and 100mm over the magazines.
Tone also has many torpedos and that thick armor belt. It could go to 5.7 to be on par with HMS glorious.
I am hoping they implement IJN Nachi as a tech tree version in early fitout or perhaps Ashugara or Haguro @5.7

An excellent video, however, looking at this ships performance , guns, reload speed, shell damage, torpedoes, armor scheme, it reeally makes me look at a same br heavy like the New Orleans and question the point of the vessel. With a longer reload and shells that feel anemic, I'm unsure as to what shell type is useful, couple that with a lack of torpedoes and a mediocre armor layout, the only strength is its AA battery. So my question is what's the point of American Heavy cruisers in warthunder?
American heavy cruisers where designed to stay in line and beat the enemy down at max range with support from all the fleet elements. Especially their treaty cruisers, it wasn't until they were looking to actually fight Japan that the faster more powerful ships were considered.
The match up between myoko and New orleans and the other treaty cruisers IS realistic.
Myoko-class were the most powerful ships of the time. The Japanese always pushed to have the most powerful ships in a class.
The US navy Admiralty were constantly at eachothers throats about the 8inch vs 6 inch gun cruiser problem.
Newport news and it's 8inch autoloader was literally the thing that America needed. The problems you described are just a quirk of warthunder. Just like the Japanese having the best armor for running away.
USA treaty 8 inch cruisers need to use AP all the time IMO. They are not as fun to play but the American 8 inch cruisers are capable, at range and with measured and accurate albeit slow, gunnery.
@@CmdrTyrael Thanks for the advice it's much appreciated! Hopefully this will make the experience of playing the ship more enjoyable, though I'll have to look into getting myoko now, as she is a potent and reliable looking vessel.

If people FOMO, they should FOMO right now. I got the Eugen and face 7/10 just Moffetts since people are botting like crazy. Im speed running the German tech tree and will get the Myoko next to speed run the Jap tech tree afterwards.
Myoko is definitely a great ship. I see a lot of them coming to the waves in future
