What he said about the difficult times they had is why Junho's win is all the more sweet!!!

Do you know what some of these difficult times were?

@@milZ1 Yeah...it's going to be long but here goes....
when he entered the trainee period at JYP he was not able to train with other groups that were created. He had to train by himself in a corner. And as a result...his friends developed a lot faster than he did. JYP would give them updates on their development and he would be told he's getting better but not good enough...to the point he was being considered to be kicked out. At some point his mother found out his difficulties and called JYP and told them that Junho had another 6 months training and if they kick him out it'll hurt him being so young. So JYP kept him the next 6 months and he of course was good enough to make it into 2pm. But, he never knew what his mother had done until he told her he'd made it and that's when she revealed what she had done. He told this story on a variety show and got teary eyed and he made the other singers teary eyed...Taecyeon, Yoona, Lee Sungi....I got teary eyed when I thought about the young Junho who struggled.
Also, as you may know, 2pm was known as the "beastly" idols because they were bigger and physically stronger than other idols plus they did acrobatics. There's a video of them practicing and you see Junho flip and fall on his neck and head and he was concussed. Eventually the acrobatics over the years hurt him and at one point during practice for a concert in Shanghai he couldn't stand up. It turns out he'd broken some bones in his back. There are videos in YT showing him being wheeled under the stage before a concert...he's in costume and with a brace around his torso he actually performed...not dancing but singing and you can see how much pain he's in. His members helped him a lot during that concert...holding him up. He also damaged his shoulder joint...you can see the scars on his arm from his surgery. He was once asked...if you couldn't dance what would happen to him and his answer was he'd have no career.
Junho is very focused and driven to succeed and you can see in variety shows how hard he's trying but he fails at it. Junho was not the most popular member of 2pm...it was either Taecyeon or Nickhun and Jay Park when he was w/them. He was pretty bad at variety shows and fans noticed this. And so he'd beat himself up for failing. As a result...the industry didn't really look at Junho for variety shows or movies or dramas. So all the members had other "activities" while he didn't. In idol world...the more times you can be on any type of show shows your success and likeablity.
While Junho was recovering from surgery he tells the story that he thought he was the most useless thing in the world.. He got his break when he was asked to audition for movie Cold Eyes. He was recovering from surgery but he still went for the audition a got a small part in them movie. He did so well that little by little directors started to look at him for their productions. And that's why we have the Junho of today.
ON the 2pm side...at some point Jay Park was no longer part of 2pm. The details aren't well known by us new fans...there's not a lot of stuff about this on YT. There were a lot of angry Hottest fans that blamed not just JYP but also the members so they went through a hard time after that. They eventually had some success but eventually JYP made them focus more on promotions in Japan ( idon't know why). Junho mentioned once that they had to do it because they were the top breadwinners for JYP even though at that time GOT7...Twice ...these newer groups were starting to become popular. Many people thought 2pm had disbanded but its just that they almost exclusively held concerts in Japan VS Korea. This must have been hard on 2pm . Junho also got his "solo" concert break in 2013 and except for his military duty and covid restrictions...he's held a solo concert in Japan every summer. He probably has more solo concerts than the other members. The Japanese fans love him. There's 1 concert where he breaks down crying because of their support of him and 2pm. I believe those Japanese fans kept him going. One concert after another they supported his solo career and I for one am thankful for that because I get to see great, exciting concerts from Junho.

@@ddreileyz thank you for your response! I really appreciate it. I have 2 questions please. Why did he have to train in the corner? If everyone is training, then they are all learning and not perfect, this is so mean and sad. Idol startup is so cutthroat sadly.
I would love to know why JYP made them focus on Japan? There's even an official 2PM Japan page and their concerts are there but not Korea. Its so strange. I wonder why. I think this is a promise JYP made to Jay Park or he would reveal real behaviour of JYP. Might be in some NDA.

@@milZ1 There's a variety show where he talks about it. I'll see if I can find it. But basically when he got into JYP they "crazily" divided the trainees into 2 groups based on height...sounds crazy right??? And based on Junho's height he didn't fit into either group. So, as he described it he practiced alone in a corner by himself while his friends practiced together learning from eachother. In this show where he talked about this, Junho shed a few tears and some of the other celebrities like Taecyeon, Yoona and Lee Sungi also got teary eyes as they heard his story. Of course, Taecyeon already knew the story. But as I've learned about Junho....he's a tough guy...very strong minded and focused so what he went through in his early 20's just made him persevere and get stronger and that's why we're seeing his excellent skills today. He worked hard for it all. First KPOP idol to win a Baeksang best actor award...that's a big deal.
I would also love to know why they started focusing on Japan instead of Korea. I've heard of a few "scandals" but i don't really have all the details. Probably the biggest impact was the exit of Jay Park.
Junho did talk in a behind the scenes video for their MV Promise I'll Be. He said something like...it had been 2 years since they'd produced a Korean album but that they've always been working in Japan out of loyalty to JYP since they were the breadwinners of JYP. Only people that followed them back then would know the detail. Maybe JYP wanted to focus on his 3rd gen groups and needed the income 2pm generated to help develope the younger groups and 2pm willingly went along with everything. Who knows? But I'd love to know because I think its not fair that they had to do this. They should have been better treated and better known in their home country. But that's just me...I'm guessing 2pm is over all of this drama.
Just last month and this month too, Junho held weekend concerts in Japan for his 10th anniversary since his first solo concert and he released another solo song Can I which just shows that nothing has changed.
