    NOTE: There is a third element to this program that I forgot to address and that is the nutrition side of things. We have decided not to add this element at this time due to several different factors in our home but I DO think it would help us get even better results and if it’s something you are able to do I would suggest getting that piece in place before adding the other two pieces mentioned in this video. My apologies for forgetting to mention it in this video and I still hope this can help.

    Hi there! I have purchased this curriculum and am about to get started. Reading through all the information I just came across the suggestion that saxon math is not recommended for these kiddos. Of course I just ordered Saxon thinking simple would be better, now I'm at a loss. Can you tell me what math program you use for your son? What's worked/hasn't etc. thx so much

    Im strugling with how to use the phonics cards. I get how to teach the individual sounds but she still doesn't blend when even doing CVC. Do you have a video showing you teaching the sounds or the words? She is 8 with auditory proccesing learning gate locked.

    • @LifeintheMundane
      @LifeintheMundane  Před 10 měsíci

      I do not have a video on that or specific experience as I have only used this with my 13 year old son so he had that skill down before we started. That being said I would suggest shooting an email to the Dianne Craft company because they usually have great ideas on how to help.

  • @ericamcveigh993

    👋 I have a question. I got this program for my daughter who has multiple profoundly blocked learning gates. Meanwhile, my son (7 years) does not seem to have any blocked gates. I think that he is more “left brained”. I prefer to use the same programs for both kids rather than juggling multiple curriculum. Is it a bad idea to use this “right brain” program with my son? Would that be going against how he learns?

    • @LifeintheMundane
      @LifeintheMundane  Před 4 měsíci +1

      I am not against modifying so you can use the same curriculum that being said I would not recommend this curriculum usually for kids who learn more left brained as they would do better with learning the rules and such of phonics. That being said if you already have it you could try it and see if it works and if not pivot but if it were me I would probably go with a different program.

    • @LifeintheMundane
      @LifeintheMundane  Před 2 lety

      Great question. I actually meant to address that in this video and I forgot. We have not done the nutrition part. It’s a very Interesting thing to me and I may decided to do it in the future but was a bit overwhelming for me to implement at this time. We have seen great success with the other two pieces of the program though and one day we may add that element.
      That being said if I were to refill this video I would say that if your doing the nutrition piece to get that in place before jumping into the brain training exercises but that’s just my personal opinion.

      @@LifeintheMundane Do you mind me asking if any of your kids has adhd? I know the nutrition part is specifically for those kiddos. I only bought the brain intergration manual for a few reasons but yeah, I'm on the fence about buying and using the nutrition part, though I might in the future.

      So, I’ve gotten to the point where I realized my child and I were reacting to palm oil and discovered it is an Omega 6 fatty acid, known for causing depression and psychological reactions. Fast forward and I see her info on omega 3s, which I knew we need to increase in hopes to balance our bodies, but when I saw that it’s thee fat of the brain, it’s all just clicked. I’m going to do the detox and nutrition plan she has. I have seen great changes in my child with changes in diet and especially the removal of all palm oil! Thanks for sharing.

    So after this program is completed, (It looks like the phonics program goes through 2 levels?) is your child supposed to be an accomplished reader? I am currently using AAR with my dyslexic child and we are 1/3ish way through level 2 and it doesn’t seem to be working for him. And I hate that the word lists have such obscure words on them. He asks me what they are and I don’t have a clue. Why not just use compound words like spaceship, sidestep etc instead of words that make no sense.

    • @LifeintheMundane
      @LifeintheMundane  Před rokem +2

      I’m honestly not sure what comes next as we are far from that point. As far as the nonsense words that’s actually intentional as some struggling readers and dyslexic kids become really good guessers and appear to be reading when their not. Because of that many programs will include words that are not real or are obscure to ensure the child actually gets to practice the phonogram or rule that is being taught without being able to just guess. Hope that helps!

      @@LifeintheMundane thank you. My kiddo is 6 and we’ve done hooked on phonics and explode the code, I’ve had to start over with hooked on phonics so it’s like she knows it but doesn’t retain it. With explode the code she can spell it but not read it so we are like what is happening?! She also has a speech delay (so much improvement) but with tubes in her ear it has impacted her hearing as well. I suspect APD but has not been confirmed or anything but I do think she is definitely a right brain learner. 😩

      We are a month in. I have 2 children on the program 9 year old with dyspraxia and 13 year old with dysgraphia, auditory processing and sensory issues. Decided to start with the 9 year old during the summer and the teen in the fall. It was overwhelming as it’s not an open and go program and then the resources are so many. I about cried on day 1. But now we are both used to it and fine tuning it where I didn’t read thoroughly on how to go about things. Dianne does return her calls personally and I loved talking to her as as she tailored a program for my children according to their needs. She loves the Lord and you can tell it’s ministry for her . I have found pieces used to begin our journey. The Brain Integration manual and the phonics book is what I have so far. It’s sufficient for where the child is at. But I will need to add on other pieces for the teenager. I am not on Facebook so I appreciated your review as I didn’t feel alone out there. 😊. Hope you and your son are continuing to grow with it. I did see your updated video as well. Dianne recommends adding cod liver oil and lecithin. They can be expensive but have opted for the more affordable NOW brand.
