I am from Colombia and therefore cannot understand the lyrics in African music, but for some reason my heart gets full of happiness and nostalgia when I hear the rhythm and the beautiful voices... I guess my blood connection to Africa has not been lost over so many centuries, and my soul still is able to recognize the sentiment and the beauty of African culture! Thank you TPOK!
My Grandpa, a devout fan of Franco, used to say you can play any song but so long as Sam Mangwana is on the vocals, any good song is transformed into an angelic melody. This I have lived to cherish. And this is why I like this one.
Sylvie we know you, your job is to betray others,to undermine theirs name and sabotage theirs businesses. So this song can be used when you suspect someone for not being a true friend.Toyeba yo hoooo hooo that was during Mobutu period so fearing to be sued they just used a toyeba yo(we know you)...
Iam a Kenyan and agreat fan of TP OKAY JAZZ, Africa is one....the voices of Sam Mangwana, Njosky Kiambukuta, Madillu,Pepe Paul Ndombe, Simaro Lutumba and papa himself Franco Luambo has united Africa, RIP Legends... your music is still roguing
The youth today will never understand nor appreciate this kind of music.....long live TPOK JAZZ .......To yeba yo ....meaning "We know you" Wonderful song 🎵

I anticipate that Franco was a gifted human being. He knew how to compose music for his fellow human beings irrespective of understanding the language. He was a man made for this. Why did he have to leave us so early in life? I pray that the Almighty rest his soul in peace.
I'm congolese and I'm pretty moved by your comment :) Today for many people Africa is ONLY a shame even for some Africans. So reading a Colombian's comment testifying to his deep connection to Africa through music is something that touches me ^^
I am very proud and happy to be an African forever. We will never descend to the low level of the oppressors, slave owners and haters. No matter what THEY try to make us become through their wickedness, Africans will always live with Nature instead of trying to conquer it. God bless Africa, the Motherland of ALL humans.
For sure Michel Boyibanda used to sniff something deadly b4 going on stage. look at him dancing like crazy here. Hahahahaaa always the flower of OK Jazz on stage. Lovely to watch!

damn everytime I hear this song, I want to die. Politics, love, rumba in one song. To imagine it was sung before I was born is mind blowing. There will never be another TPOK jazz. None will suuuung like these guys. RIP
Do not die brother, life on earth is worth living. Yes, the music is superb. Luambo should have lived a little longer for us. He was inspiring and please, after hearing these music from him I normally sleep in peace. I do my academic work with ease.
This song has invoked memories of my yester years.Toyeba yoooo, mosala na yo seko funda bato,Toyeba yoooo, mosala nayo seko kongolo, mbongo na mito ya bato maamaa!!(We know you,all you do is reporting people. We know you all you do is take advantage of people maamaaa!!...wah! wah!!!.....muziki wa vijana wa jana as Uncle Fred Obachi puts it :-)
This song was sang in 1975 before I was born.Franco and everyone else in this video appears happy. This invokes a good spirit.Ikiwa wanamziki wa kisasa watafuata mwelekeo wa Tpok Jazz.Mziki utapendeza kwa muda mrefu kama vilivyo kwa hii wiimbo.
My wife bought me a cd of Franco. This song is inside. So i just called her to show how old this song is old. The cd have very good quality sound. Nice to see them singing live. Thanx for posting.
This has to eb the best music ever. It goes right to your soul. Grew up listening to this on radio in the 70s in uganda. My dad had a stash of their records because he worked with them but he lost the lot. I wish I had held ont them. Thanks for the good work and sweet memories Rhandi! RIP Franco!
Every time I watch this tune I cry tears of joy. It just does somehting to me - must be the innocent childhood memories but it is one wicked tune! Cheza wewe!

I'm listening at 00.41 am EAT on 2.8.2020. imagine it's now a year ago since I commented here. With Congolese music time does not matter. A year is like yesterday.
real talent thumb up Tpok, for sure they were of their kind and i dont think we would see a band so good agan maybe in the next life. fresh everyday and every hit unlike todays music. someone tell me of todays music how long can they go before out of date. they are plastic music like the later day world. thank you Rahindi i love these guys nitakufa bure
A sign of great music is music that speaks to you no matter what language it's in. I was taught from a young age to appreciate any music I hear, even if it comes from a country that is worlds apart from where I live. If nothing else we can come together over music
Thank you for the clarification. I am just thrilled that someone is trying to keep the memory of Franco alive. With the demise of Sonodisc Records it almost impossible and prohibitively expensive to obtain content. Also, there is a great deal of content that was never converted to CD format. What scares me is that future generations won't know who Franco was because nobody is releasing content. Whoever owns the content, please give the music a future. (Computer keeps crashing, hope this posts.)
I just hope wherever he is he is getting the appreciation he deserves because we had him for over 30 years and decided to put untalented western musicians first. What we are now left with is lazy African singers who try to mimic the same western bubble gum music. Hope you all feel the pain i do every time I listen to Franco and realise how much he is missed. The very best musician, composer band leader and lyricist and oh guitarist of course. I dare anyone challenge me on any of these.
These guys were organised in everything, flowing lyrics, instrumentals, supersonic voices. How i wish i understand what the song says. Is it the one he did about Mobutu which led to his exile!? Kindly someone to interpret
Very nice song put them together they really played a music that entertained everyone for sure but Michel Boyibanda seems to be having some flu although that didn't change anything at the end both sam and franco were enjoying at the whims of it all going here and there with franco taking a little laugh while sam was singing
