  • In this video I review banana's.......... no just kidding, I'm reviewing the DAJA DJ6 Laser Engraver. Is it worth the money? Does it even work? Or is this just another piece of tech junk that will accumulate in the scrap pile of dumb.. I mean.. doom!
    Spoiler alert, I was actually pretty impressed with this little unit, it was well worth the money in my opinion. So hey, you can purchase your own here (although fair warning, it did say there were only 11 left in stock). I've been burning pretty much non stop since I got mine. It really is great fun!

    I got this model last week, quite like it in general and am happy with the money spent. For me it worked from the first go and the homing was smooth, had no hitching.
    From machine mechanics - was really glad the motion is via lead screws and not a belt transmission.
    On the cons - it had no transport clips, was free to bounce around in shipment (no damage observed, but potential)
    One really big disappointment was speed. it is SO SLOW!!! Didn't expect it to be of a printer speed, but 60x50 single pass on 90% taking an hour was sad.
    The mobile app suggested in the booklet, not made by same people, but is required, while has neat functionality, intuitive, works plug-and-play, but has also issues.
    For language support it has a list of languages, but everything other than English is Asian script, probably Chinese, even if you select any of the ten or so European options.
    Also software materials presets selection does not reflect actual printer output and should not be relied on. Need to find your own settings for the material you are using.
    As said in the beginning, happy with it, but some of my expectations (justified or not) were not met and constituted unfortunate surprises.

    Hello! Great review on the Daja engraver. I am looking to engrave on a 3mm transparent acrylic. It seems that in order to work on acrylic it needs to be on opaque acrylic. Some people have suggested to use a marker to shade the acrylic. If I don’t want to go this route, are there other affordable machines out there that can engrave on clear acrylic?

    • @DemonViewLLC
      @DemonViewLLC  Před 10 měsíci +1

      I can't be sure, but you'd probably want a Co2 laser engraver instead of a diode laser engraver. amzn.to/47iUsHX However I know people have engraved glass with a diode laser by painting the glass black first, engraving it, and then washing the paint off the glass. I'm not sure if this would work with acrylic but it could be worth trying.

    Discovered your channel by doing research on this very engraver. I am looking for something small to engrave my logo into my works.
    Can you tell me how long it took to engrave your logo into the coaster? My logo will only be about 2 inches square and I was hoping it would only take a few minutes to complete.
    Again, great video. New subscriber!

    • @DemonViewLLC
      @DemonViewLLC  Před 10 měsíci

      I've actually been engraving all sorts of media with this laser engraver. Coasters. Wooden Keyrings, Metal Business cards. I would say that the time involved will depend on the design of your logo. So a 2" square logo, if it's a photo or has a lot of different shades, it will take longer than something that is simple black and white in nature (or text). The wooden keyrings I was engraving will probably be the closest to what you'd be doing. Using my own DemonView Logo as a B&W engrave, I would say it took about 8 minutes maximum. Engraving depth and speed (which are selectable) will have the most effect on time.

    Can you explain how to set focus adjustment? thank you

    • @DemonViewLLC
      @DemonViewLLC  Před 11 měsíci +1

      I am making a follow up video, however the quick answer is that you should have gotten a small black piece of cardboard with the printer (you can use any dark material, the darker the better). Place it under the laser while it's in low power mode (not engraving). You can then turn the end of the laser (which is the lens) to focus that point. The smaller you make the point the better. Once the point is as small as you can get it, that's it, your laser is focused.

    Did you ever get a “clearing flash” notification? And if so what does it mean and what did you do ?

    • @DemonViewLLC
      @DemonViewLLC  Před 11 měsíci

      Never seen the message, but I suspect that the image file is loaded into flash ram for every engraving session. It gets cleared before the next job. I did have it print a previous file when I attached it to a different PC once. So image still left in the flash ram I guess.

    • @DemonViewLLC
      @DemonViewLLC  Před 9 měsíci +1

      This is just am engraver, so it won't cut anything. You way want to look at the creality engravers/cutters. Probably something with a 10 to 20w laser. Should set you back about $600

    Hi, thanks for the great and professional video. You make it look so easy. Just got mine and the Bluetooth connection to iPhone does not work. I reinstalled as per your advice about ten times and it is still the same. Any advice greatly appreciated. I contacted AliExpress Daja and they sent an email in Chinese that will not translate. Thanks in advance

      @DemonViewLLC  Před 10 měsíci

      So you can only connect through the app not through the bluetooth menu on your phone. So open the app on your phone, before you do anything else, click on the "not connected" message on the top right hand corner. That will allow you to connect to the Daja.

    Hi, does it work on uncoated metals?

    • @DemonViewLLC
      @DemonViewLLC  Před 8 měsíci

      I don't know, I have only tried it on wood, coated metals so far. However most clear products require a coating and several guides I've seen for engraving plain aluminum that this does also need to be coated (although this is usually done by using a temporary coating such as marker and then washing it off after engraving).

    • @DemonViewLLC
      @DemonViewLLC  Před 11 měsíci +1

      @@terrijennings8785 I feel it would. It may require multiple passes for a better etch and you would want good ventilation too. Engraving on metal can take quite some time though. However there are other materials that are the same shape such as wood that may prove to be quicker.

      On smaller scales I tried it, also worked, but from image standpoint it is better to provide initial image at the needed size, rather than stretch and squish in the application, for better looking results. Smallest I made was about 20 by 20 mm. The outline tracing feature for positioning is super helpful in that!
