This is one of the reasons why I do everything myself

- I finally got the heat pump installed so I can continue building the house. I also get a dream fulfilled at the end that will have a big place in my heart and house :)

I have created detailed SketchUp CAD drawings and parts list of the house and furniture's available for a small fee. It took me a long time to make the drawings and if you buy them you support me and my house. read more here: mindsparx.org/shop/ , Thank you!
Was pain to watch what installer did 😢 But that stove is terrific! Absolutely insane. Now I think I need one someday. Your channel truly is a gem. Thanks for sharing all of this information with us.
2:54 is EXACTLY why I do everything myself. FYI, most heatpumps can be installed without the need to touch the refrigerant. You do all the hard, $$$$ labour and precision intensive (OCD level 😉) work yourself and then call the HVAC technician with two left hands to come run vacuum on the lines, pressure test and release the refrigerant charge in the heatpump into the lines. This reduces the technician labour cost to about two hours versus three to four times that based on the ineptitude of the tech that comes to butcher your home. The only reason they might say no to that is because they want to protect their crappy effort income. Showing a image of that load bearing stud damage to the warranty department of the heatpump will shut them up quickly.
That is the coolest stove ever!
Even if he started from the outside, it’s pretty obvious when your hole saw has to go through a stud. 😂 This is as bad as plumbers sawing through floor joists! In the US, I was able to install a mini split myself with a permit, with an exception since I own the house. Since then I have gotten EPA certification to purchase and work with refrigerants, so that I can repair it myself. The equipment is not cheap…but for the price of 2 repairs by a professional I am now “self sufficient”. 🎉
A few years ago i did the same but new regulations made it illegal to install heat pumps yourself :(
@@mindsparx1 Ah yes, the nanny state at the bequest of the lobbyists for the "certified but couldn't careless HVAC technicians" has created that new regulation to 'protect you' and their pay cheques.
@@mindsparx1 I wonder how much of the installation prep work can be done by yourself? I mean if you basically make it so that the installer only has to screw everything together, is that allowed? Drill all holes ready, all mountings etc?
@@mindsparx1 What regulations? :D i recently installed my heat pump my self (swe). I mean, what could happen?
@@tomtebloss89 Its a new building so all the papers needs to be i order
For anyone who's going to build their own home and wants a heatpump, get a monoblock, no need to touch the refrigerants, just waterpipes, works great with underfloor heating.
That stove is insanely beautiful. Well done.
Oh man - you put so much effort into your house and then there are such ... DAMN
That's one hell of a trophy oven. I hope you can install it yourself though. 😀
I think I'm going to call the same guy.
@@mindsparx1 Careful he doesn't put it in front of a door
@@mindsparx1 haha. i would advise against it. Not unless you want him to drill through the floor joists too 😆
@@mindsparx1 🤣
I would be so sad looking at that heater. Jesus you practically did it for him and he still screwed it up 😭.
But damn, that stove is SWEET!
So much for letting a professional do it.
I have learned to do everything myself. I feel I do a better job than most trades people. Unfortunately, as I get older, I’m going to have to farm some work out.
I'm no professional but appreciate learning. Another builder recommends nailing the second wall top plate here in USA just slightly on either side of the wall studs, thus leaving plenty of room between studs for drilling, wiring or pipes without hitting nails.
Skarven t.v om värmepumpen blir magisk att remsa och spackla till....:)
Precis, det var det första jag tänkte :)
Merry Christmas to you and your family! 🎄
С наступавшим годом вам и вашей семье.
Love the stove! Love the exterior windows and corners! Looks awesome! I can't wait to see the finished house.
I like your humor man! You are a very skilled builder as well. Good job and thank you for teaching us newbies the CC method.
Love the stove. Thanks for sharing
Sorry for my English.
Haha, hands grown from as... good one
@@mindsparx1 Yep. Also hammerfuckers/chiselfuckers.
In the US we can install those mini splits Heat pumps our self . That installer did a crap job for sure . I love that Oven that thing looks nice
We could do that a few years ago too but Greta came in the way. I'm really jealous of how easy your rules are for electrical installation and heat pumps etc, but it's probably only a matter of time for you too
@@mindsparx1 I agree the How Dare you girl Screwed up a lot of things for people
You will fix his work ?? i can understand that feeling. I started with my furniture, then my car and electricity instalation. Now i mostly do everything by myself...
Merry Christmas from the USA.
Thank you, and merry christmas to you too. We selebrate today instead of 25:th as you guys do. :)
I am so sorry for you and this „professinal“ Heat Pump installation😢! Unbeliveable, how coud the installer do this crap? Very nice to hear from you direct before Christmas! The oven is hammer!!! Best regards from Germany/Swede!
I can't even. It would've been easier not to cut the stud, it's like he went out of his way to do something stupid. I can't even call it lazy.
If this is the level of a professional, then it shows how difficult it is to get skilled workers. Which region do you live? I'm still looking for a job, have no experience in anything, but it won't be necessary.
That stove surprised me, you hardly see gas in Sweden. Do you have to drag bottles around later? Interesting, do you also know whether it is cheaper or more expensive than cooking on electricity? I once understood that many restaurants cook on gas because the power supply is normally not sufficient.
Nice to see an update. What capacity is your heat pump? Also, what is going to be your energy source to heat water?
The pump is made for nordic temperatures and for around 170m2 i will have a 100 liter heater 220v so that the house can be run on batteries. Im a bit of a prepper ;)
holy smokes that's a nice stove
Very interesting to see how you build your own house. Thank for sharing. I have a question about ventilation of your house. In the Netherlands it’s mandatory to ventilate your house in a energy efficient way, so that you get fresh air inside. (Legislation new buildings, we build very airtight houses) this is usually done by a ventilation system with ducts. (Central systeem with ducts who go to every room you can sit our sleep in giving fresh air, and in bathroom, toilet, kitchen and storage old/dirty air is removed) usually this system works with a heat exchanger so the old air warms the fresh cold air, and in the summer vice versa. Works automatically via CO2 sensor(s)I did not see something in your house, what is the legislation in your country for this? Thank you in advance for your reply.
My previous house had a so-called FTX system that recovers heat at the same time as it ventilates. I won't be able to afford to do that this time so I will install wall fans which will also recover up to 85% of the heat, but you are right modern houses need to be ventilated and I will get to that later.
What a tease….. professional installer…😂😂😂
хехе, ваші відео дуже змістовні. Підтримую, одна з причин чому я будував свій будиночок самостійно! Звісна річ я не професіонал, але я можу витрати більше часу на деталі і (потенційно) зробити більш акуратніше.
I have basically the same issue with wanting to work by myself on whatever I do. I'm always thorough and have received criticism for that. I'm currently unemployed after loosing my job in November, maybe I should apply for a job at your company...
I was wondering why you bought a cooker that is worth as much as a big part of this house. Now I know the answer 😉
Most excellent job on heat pump installation. You would have never been able to place it so professionally yourself. Will there be any state inspection of it as well?
Haha, no that's why it looks like this, they go in and do their hours and that's it...
@@mindsparx1 Life is an experiment. If it wasn't they would have given you better instructions. Like where they do not allow you to install yourself; in retrospect, if you had predrilled and precut the hole the installer would have had to use that instead of doing his own. In the 1990s I built a home using very similar construction techniques as yours but due to lack of regulations was able to do everything single handedly myself. Not being a professional carpenter it took me a lot longer but the result was superb. Had I known some things, some of the construction could have gone faster or turned out better, but overall professionals looking at the job considered it overbuilt or too neat. Noting that, if I had hired local professionals it would have meant that the house would have been underbuilt (and way beyond my budget). Your videos are truly inspiring!
You are too kind. I would have kicked his ass off the project, or at minimum made him repair the damage done to the load bearing stud. After all, you did show him exactly where to mount it and he chose not to.
As others have commented, you can do the install yourself and only need the technician to connect the pipes and fill the gas, check for leaks etc. Or your supplier may have had different requirements.
Thanks for documenting your process! I'm enjoying your videos 🥰 Regarding the law on installing heat pumps, are you not able to do any part of it, such as locating the bracket to hang the internal unit and pre-drilling the hole for the plumbing?
Also, do you now need to reinforce the structural stud that was drilled into?
I 'am but i have to pay the guy 700Eur or so, i expected him to be able to make a hole.
@mindsparx1 yes... he definitely made a hole.
Вечер добрый 😎 с наступающим праздником 😀
Спасибо 🥳🥳
That's the true sign of an alleged professional: appeals to his/her title to charge a shitload, does the job shit quickly, can't think ahead for shit and doesn't give a shit about the result.
did you manage to repair the vapourbarrier after the installation?
That was fun 😂😂😭
In fairness to that frigy .... If you had left the walls open he may have located the header correctly between the studs.
It's pure stupidity what the installer did. I get your point, I also like to do the work myself but sometimes the time is just not enough 😅.
I was wondering, is that only heating source in your house? Is that enough in Sweden? In Finland we install heat pumps merely for cooling, and as a secondary heating element. Usually every new house built here is to have heated floors and geothermal heat pumps.
Super feet layout. Virkelig skid med at AC folk ligemeget hvor man er i verden generelt er så skod :( har lige lavet luft/vand hos mine forældre og dem der satte det op opsatte pumpen omvendt så varme ud / kolde ind... GG
As my friend is joking: «all builders are divided into 2 categiries: bad and very bad. 😂😂😂😂
🇳🇴👍👍 🎄 God Jul!
Tack det samma 🥳🥳
I can't believe he drilled through a loadbearing stud! he should give you a major discount for such stupidity. Either way, that stove looks amazing. Will you include cabinet design to match the stove? What about the stove hood?
I will build an entire early 1900:s kitchen to go with that stove :)
@@mindsparx1 looking forward to it 👍
4:11 PRO 😋😋
All that work before the install and he did a crappy job. The stove looks great.
Haha yes, I think my dog would have done a better job
That's a stove for a restaurant. Nice job. The heater installation was done by a drinker. How could you misd the stud and or the clearance space on the left for wall tap and mud? Rhetorical question 🤔
I'd be bloody mad at the installer
This is a channel u have to turn on the bell notification so u don't miss any videos.
shouldn't you be able to file for damages and reimbusement from that?
I am totally sure it would be much safer if you are the one who installed it
weren't you worried about going through the cables behind ?
The stove is very pretty, but might i ask why you choose a gas stove over induction? : ) The job the installer did, yikes. Did you bring it up with him or the company he works for?
I have worked as a chef in my early years, and Gas is the way to go when cooking :) I didn't mention it, i hate drama, let the guy figure out he sucks by him self, he will get that with age.
@@mindsparx1 Alright, was a gas-guy (lol) myself but after getting a decent induction i dont see any cons using a gas stove anymore.
Hope so, hard to give criticism without drama and angerness, but he could sure use a nudge to realize he needs to look over his own work.
That stove is ridiculous!
Yeah, I know, can't stop looking at it, a work of art
@@mindsparx1 // that stove😍. 🤠🇫🇮
Brutal!😒
Unfortunately this is the work mentality in many places in Scandinavia. You can pay Someone to do a job, but you can't buy their freedom to be completely zoomed out and make a mess...
unless the gas stove is wok hai level scorching hot i don't get the appeal of a gas stove myself electric is safer and easier...
a basic gas stove is not gonna give you perfect egg fried rice :p
Thats the swedish sloppy workers 😂
Couldnt you have drilled the hole? Stupid/lazy contractors are plentifull. Unfortunately our new steel roof has some leaks, lucky its over a barn and not our house.
Yes, i could have installed the whole pump but im not allowed
@@mindsparx1 not even drill the hole in the wall?
@@manganvbg90 probably but hes a professional and i would hurt hes felings. If i knew i would, but paying 800usd for the job you expect them to be able to take a hole....
It's just so pathetic that we have to have these so-called professionals to carry out various tasks which we can achieve a better job ourselves.
Couldn't agree more...
some people just can't learn to do their job properly...
I can't stand seeing people work who don't care about their work 🙄....
Installer is a W⚓
annoying :D
