    I am writing to you because I need advice. I surf a 6’2 38 liter hypoto. I surf 2-3 times a year coming from Montreal and I am intermediate level. I came back from El Salvador and for the first time my age/physical fitness played tricks on me. I would like to have a board with approximately the same size but perhaps longer in order to stick more easily in the wave and I was thinking of the S Boss 6’4... Is this enough to make a difference or would the 6’6 Boss Up be better? but the 39 liters bothers me a little for the ease of duck diving?
    Thank you for all your really interesting video capsules.
    I am open to suggestion

      Hey Matieu - happy to advise as best I can. With the S Boss it really does need a bit of shape to the wave to really get it going and as fun as the Boss Up is, the higher your level of surfing, the more you'll get out of the board. Personally I would also check out the Skindog Ova and Harely Ingleby Moe as a couple of alternatives which might be a bit more forgiving if you're only getting in the water a couple times a year. They're heaps of fun and will keep your wave count high with easy paddle power!

    Compared to many mids , this obviously surfs well off the tail but I don’t see the smooth transition when the wave flattens out. Seems to me that this would be a good board for steep wave faces or bigger days. But from watching a few vids on this board, even when they complete a turn and move the back foot forward, it seems like the weight is still too far back to get through the flat section of the wave.

    • @Bwmblairdoc
      @Bwmblairdoc Před 2 měsíci +1

      IMO would be a good board for larger or older performance surfers in better waves. And not for surfers that like to cruise or that surf weak flat faced waves.

    • @StokedForTravel
      @StokedForTravel  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Hoping to score some footage on some smaller days which will hopefully test out small wave performance a bit more. I would say that Adam certainly has a more off the tail style of surfing (even on his logs) but my buddy Andy also tested it out and certainly managed to coast smaller sections more from the middle of the board.
      I do agree though, it looks like chest high and upwards is certainly going to light this board up more than small and mushy.
      That being said though a lot of the videos I’ve watched so far, people are certainly riding it as a stretched longboard rather than full mid length - so if you’re looking for smaller surf, the bigger options will be the way forward 🤙

    7’2 Boss up or 7’2 Seaside and Beyond? (I already own a 5’9 regular seaside mind you). Not sure which to get for a mid length.

    • @StokedForTravel
      @StokedForTravel  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Ooooo tough one! What type of waves are you looking to surf it in? Pulled in tail of the Boss Up will give it an advantage in hollower conditions and for tighter turns, but the SSB will feel very familiar underfoot if you’re already loving the Seaside!

    • @KP-rd8we
      @KP-rd8we Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@StokedForTravel so I’m typically surfing in the 2-6ft range although I’d say the beach break I surf at hovers around 2-3ft majority of the time. Although flat periods during the summer. (East coast). It seems as though they now no longer offer a 7’2 SNB. So it could be either maybe 7’2 boss up or 7’4 SNB. Also considering the Chili Mid Strength (idk if you’ve reviewed that one yet). I like the idea of the SNB being familiar under feet but I also like trying out new shapes and idk if the SNB would be too familiar that Id be less excited to be on it.

    • @StokedForTravel
      @StokedForTravel  Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@KP-rd8we given the conditions you're surfing in I'd say the Boss Up would be a solid fit, and if you're looking to mix things up from your SNB that would be the way I'd be going - such a fun board and a lot of options fin wise too which is always nice to have!

    Good morning.
    I find that the Bosse Up from FireWire has a slight resemblance to the M23 from Al Merrick.
    Good Slide.

    • @StokedForTravel
      @StokedForTravel  Před 2 měsíci +1

      It does have a quite similar outline, however it’s definitely chunkier on the dims. Looks like it’ll have better small wave performance as a result though, but with the Boss Up being capable of handling bigger surf 🤙

    • @bcaz84
      @bcaz84 Před 2 měsíci +1

      which one you think seems more intermediate focused/user friendly, the Boss up or CI M23. Im getting older and work has not been kind to my shoulders. I thought the boss up looks a little more perfomance oriented then the M23 is my point.

    • @StokedForTravel
      @StokedForTravel  Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@bcaz84 tough one to answer as I haven’t had any experience on the M23 but given the fact it (on paper at least) has better small wave capability it should be a bit more user friendly as a result. If you’re looking to progress turns but still have the paddle power, the Boss Up in longer lengths should be heaps of fun too. Thunderbolt Moe or Mini Moe is another one you should check out as well, really user friendly 🤙

      @@bcaz84Good morning.
      For exactly one year I have been surfing with the M23 in hollow waves in southwestern France, they vary between thigh height and shoulder.
      I am 52 years old and she responds very well to my request for an easy train for the take-off and the catch of wave, she is relatively reactive in turns and maneuvers. Indeed it is not a shortboard but it reacts very well.
      The specifications when I bought this board was to be able to row quietly and have a board that maneuvers correctly in many different conditions.
      She does her job and suits me perfectly.
      Good slide🤙🏼

      The M23 in the Torq epoxy is a tank alot thicker rails then the boss up.

    Gee goes well for a 7'2"! Be interested to know the weight and size of your mate, he looks like a big dude. Looking forward to the review. I am looking at buying this board, but the 6'8". Cheers!

      @StokedForTravel  Před 2 měsíci +4

      Indeed it does! Adam is 6'5 and 105kg - but generally he rides very similar dims to myself (I'm 185cm and 83kg) on a lot of his boards, including a few mid lengths that we both have. Let me know how the 6'8 goes!

    The guy surfs good but he surfs that midlength board like a shortboard. His front foot doesn't move... if you chose to ride a midlength, the benefit is in its versatility which allows you to alternate / mix both long board and shortboard skills...

    • @StokedForTravel
      @StokedForTravel  Před 21 dnem

      really depends on your style of surfing - Adam surfs his 9 foot plus boards in that same off the tail style as well!
