Any valuable asset is going to be "expensive". Price means nothing in the absence of value - people who say something is "expensive", or worse yet, a "rip-off", are simply saying they won't take the time to actually evaluate the asset in question. It turns out that some of the most expensive and poor quality products are offered at low prices or for "free". Ever heard of a "free" bank account? How about all those "free" government services?
As you point out, rich people don't think this way. They have the ability to measure value accurately, which means they're not afraid to spend large amounts of money where it results in large amounts of value.
