      Thanks man, Travis here. Yeah I have been working on things here and there, this steering rack was a big process but worth it IMO. There some more stuff to come with my car. Thanks for watching!

      Just curious, i'm assuming you live in the apartment complex behind you, do you have precautions for your car to prevent it from being stolen?

    • @RefineMovement
      @RefineMovement  Před 7 lety +4

      Yeah I have lived there for 3 years, moving soon though. The complex has a guarded gate 24hrs a day and they do patrols at night. I also lock and detach the steering wheel when I park the car, the quick release helps with that.

    You guys are so lucky y'all don't have to deal with salty roads. Here in Minnesota those bolts would never come out that easy lol

    You'd be really surprised how much easier it is to change the rack on the EG with a integra rack, and best thing, it's direct bolt on, no modifications. Only thing is you loop the power steering line cause you're not running power steering on the EG. The EG and Integra have the same identical subframe. Don't let a EK Chasis scare you.

    refine movement - what if i can't find an Integra pinion? can i still do this mod using my OEM pinion?

    My 99 hatch, I just bought a devsport power steering loop kit for $60. I was gonna buy a new Manuel rack but found the yolk is different and couldn't locate a used one. New one is expensive so screw it. Rack isn't too hard to turn when at a stop.

    Just think the next time you do a steering rack on a ek it'll go in a quarter of the time :) I dyno'd my car to officially be in my race class and I got 89whp and weighed 2202lbs w/me in the car lol. I'll let you know where I placed after my next race this weekend.

    • @RefineMovement
      @RefineMovement  Před 7 lety +1

      +warnerg80 Lol. Sounds good man, what engine are you running? D16?

    • @warnerg80
      @warnerg80 Před 7 lety

      Refine Movement stock d16y7 and tranny with a hot air intake and $40.00 eBay header. I wanted to put the least amount of money in the D since eventually I'll go B. That also gave me the opportunity to do everything else brakes, suspension, etc.

    whats the rationale behind the power steering removal though? Just asking.

    • @RefineMovement
      @RefineMovement  Před 7 lety +9

      Thanks for asking. The main reason is to free up my engine so the power can be used for driving. This engine is a 1.6 liter making just over 100hp so it really needs all the help it can get. The power steering pump uses some of the engines power to make the steering less stiff but only really at low speeds, at normal driving its not noticeable. Also there is more feel in the steering wheel of what the tires are doing when its a manual rack. But to be honest these Hondas have great feel even with power steering. My rack needed to be replaced as it was leaking badly so I chose to depower it and add the Intergra pinon. The Integra pinon will shorten the steering ratio making turn in quicker with less effort. Sorry this is so lengthy but it was all of these reasons.

    What pedals do you have ? & were can I get some

    • @RefineMovement
      @RefineMovement  Před 7 lety

      +Favian Gonzalez they are EK9 pedals. There expensive and hard to install. I recommend not buying them.

    I have cut my lines and threw everything away before I found out about the loop I'm apparently supposed to do.. it's bone dry now will I die?

    • @RefineMovement
      @RefineMovement  Před 6 lety

      I didn’t loop my lines so I’m not sure what will happen. But I think it will be very difficult for you to steer as pressure will build inside your rack. You have to remove a a metal disc that is inside to truly de power the rack.

    welcome to florida bro lol the orange state ejejjeejje so what was the problem with the steering Rack ?

    • @RefineMovement
      @RefineMovement  Před 7 lety

      +pavel1809 the power steering rack was leaking a lot so I decided to depower it and turn it into a manual rack. I am also installing an Integra pinion to shorten the steering rato. Thanks for watching !

    How difficult is changing rack and pinion compared to a headgasket

    And what about AC removal? I think it's next logical step in the project. I actually would have been done that even before PS .

    • @RefineMovement
      @RefineMovement  Před 7 lety +1

      +Tadas Staniulis I am planning on removing the AC eventually but it's more complicated then it seems to remove And I live in Florida and it's hotttttttt most of the year.

    I live in texas and it was about 114 the other day
    I think ill find a wag to keep my ac lol

    • @RefineMovement
      @RefineMovement  Před 7 lety

      +Merp19908 yikes 114! It's hot in FL 100-105 so taking out the AC is a hard decision. I decided I'm going to keep it until I do an engine swap since I'm driving the car too and from the track.

    Inside that shift linkage at the transmission side is a bitch pin that you have to hammer out with a punch...should help a lot with room for install if you haven't already done filming for that video >.>
