If you don't need streaming apps like tidal, and only want a music player that plays from the inbuild memory/microsd card, the a55 is way ahead better than the a105. The android os, which allows streaming on the a105, sucks up battery, leaving it a lacklustre player that barely makes it through 1 day for me. That's why most of the hi-end dap these days are like lugging around a brick, to accomodate a bigger battery, and even then their battery life could not beat the battery life of minute sized daps like the a55. If I'm underwhelmed by the 55, I might return it and get the 105 or the Fiio M9. I like Sony stuff overall. I was considering the a105 as well but ended up buying the A55. That battery life and the overall package with the standalone music app is just amazing. i had tried both before buying and i'm not gonna lie, the sound quality is almost the same. Both have perfect sound quality. Unless you really want to use spotfy, check email and all those Android stuff, i recomend the A55. Obs: One thing i hated using the A105: If you pretend to download apps, you have to put your account. If you put your account (gmail) you will have to put a password to unlock the device like your phone. It's just annoying as hell have to put the password everytime you wake the player up and change music and all. Felt like i was using my phone, which is the reason i hate using the phone and wanted to buy a music player in the first place rs
@@I_was_a_Bullfrog I think it's great. I'm always happy with the sound quality. It's a step up from listening on my computer, for sure. I typically use it with wired headphones or into an aux cable. The battery lasts a good while. The bluetooth has not been amazing when taken out and about but it's totally fine at home (maybe not super strong?). However, for the NW55, bluetooth is not an important feature for me. The SD card storage has been very stable. I am constantly adding to my library and haven't run into any issues. I do not use Sony's library software - I simply add things on/off the SD card the standard way. I use Picard to tag my files, when necessary. I think it's a great device overall and I'm glad I got it. I enjoy that it's not a streaming/smart device. It would be perfect if it was USB C, but oh well!
Demn no recently added functions on A55? My biggest complain is the type of cable used to charged/transfer music & recently added functions. Sony is smart, purposely make the device flawed.
Does anyone know if this new Sony connects to a Mac running the latest Catalina? And, when bluetoothed to a car, will it think it's a mobile phone? I have the iBasso DX160 and it has great sound but I have not been able to connect it via USB to my iMac. It's using the same version of Android as my mobile phone yet my phone connects but the DX160 does not. I've been back and forth with iBasso on this and they keep telling me to select the USB for data transfer option but it's not there. I even sent them a video of it not there. The DX160 also keeps acting like a mobile phone when I bluetooth it to the car. Seriously, it asks if I want to make calls.
@@Goodgrove Sorry, you misunderstand. I have the transfer app, that's not the problem. It's that the device doesn't give me an option to select data transfer instead of charging so the Mac doesn't see the device and the transfer app has no way to transfer files. Usually there's a pop-up on the device or similar but my DX-160 does not give me the option of connecting as USB file transfer. My Samsung Galaxy connects just fine; it shows a pop-up to approve the data connection and the file transfer app works great with it.
I've just bought a NW-A55 because I want a dedicated music player. I already own the NW-A35 and I wanted another Sony. I don't see the point of Android on a music player. I have a Samsung Galaxy phone and a tablet so both have android. Save the battery on the music player. Don't get me started on the EU's volume control. Not on phones, funny that. Having to push the volume right up to get a decent sound is ridiculous and it uses more battery. Paying a thousand pounds and more (Shanling, Astell & Kern etc) for a music player in the UK or Europe is insane. I play my Sony through hi-fi active speakers and I have to crank the player's volume up. There is a fix online to disable the volume limit and that's what I'm going to do.

How is the A55? I'm considering buying one myself.

Does the a105 able to provide a warm sound? Thanks.
That's upto the amp.
@@humansrants1694 The amp should be the built-in HX Master by Sony, also depends on its circuit flow and what connecting materials it used.
There's an equalizer and you can fiddle with it to create a warm sound
What headphones are those? 7:26
Sony MDR-1AM2
Does Clear Audio+ work over bluetooth?
yes it does
No

@@Goodgrove How many hours of playtime does that usually get you?
How many hours of playtime does that usually get you?
Do this equipment has ebook reading and voice recording
yep it is android
what if i connect the A105 to a powerbank via USBC? wouldnt that aliviate the issue of short battery life?
yes it will but that is extra stuff to carry
@@Goodgrove il just stick it on a case lol
Demn no recently added functions on A55?
My biggest complain is the type of cable used to charged/transfer music & recently added functions.
Sony is smart, purposely make the device flawed.
You getting R3 Pro to compare?
Luis Navarrete yes on its way to me but I am hearing the Bluetooth is not great interference problems
Makes more sense adding an amp to the NW55.
i agree i still like it ..i have tuned my A55 to sound like the A105
@@Goodgrove tell me how pls? :)
Kristen Schroeder you need the app android transfer for your iMac ..yes it does connect to the a car like a mobile phone 👍
My Samsung Galaxy connects just fine; it shows a pop-up to approve the data connection and the file transfer app works great with it.
how do you have less subs than me? your channel is amazing!
Thanks for the comment 👍

Can you extract the Walkman apk and share the link
The Walkman App outputs bit perfect, you don't need the USB Audio Pro App
yes i know this was later after an update from sony ...this video was before the update
the last walkman i own was a SE.. W900. now someone offered me used a105 at the price of new a55. which one?
Go for the A105
you cna bypass volume restriction with soundpressure firmware tool.
Not with android unfortunately
No fix for the android version ..but non android sony daps have a software fix to remove volume limiter
@@Goodgrove Correct. Thanks to Mr Walkman. He's very good.
@@thomasalexand yes Mr Walkman firmware is fantastic ..my A55 sounds so good now
@@Goodgrove How difficult was it?
I also live in the uk. where can I buy the Japanese version?
There is some software that allows you to change the version of your Walkman.
