  • Here’s another adaptive exclusive pedestrian phase in use, this time in Dartmouth.
This one works a bit differently than the standard “TIREPP’s” I’ve been rolling out. You’ll get the EPP before the ramp phase because the ramp crossing (ped channel 3) is already fully protected. It’s able to stay in walk for most of the cycle since the only phase it’s not compatible with is phase 4 (ramp).
If ped channel 3 is in walk and the ped channel 9 (crossing Lakeshore) is called, channel 3 will hold and only terminate once channel 9 comes up. It’s timed separately of phase 1/6 and phase 2 and is actually in a completely separate ring.
If there is a call on phase 4 during the EPP, it will serve phase 4 before reverting to any other main road phases.
This intersection also rests in red, so every approach, including the ped crossings, are completely independent.
