I thighly recommend it
Oh that's good 😂
Was that an innuendo?
I think we all agree with your opinion, thighly
No busts about it.
Highly rated thighs
SO glad they decided to make this final Ryza adventure an absolutely huge one! I'm really sad to see this trilogy come to and end; Ryza is the only atelier I've really been able to get into. I can't wait to see and do everything in this game whenever I eventually get it haha
Bro I latterly wrote the same comment on another channel and I do think the same thing I dobout that I will play any Atelier game after Ryza
:(
@@yass3425 never doubt atelier trilogy series. you can also try dusk series which is good for their story (recomended)
also you can try mysterious series which more gameplay and story which i also love.
I was hoping someone would review this game. I always liked your persepective when it comes to RPGs, thanks for the review David, it was very imformative and to the point.
Great review.
Been a fan of Atelier since Ayesha and happy to see the progress the series has gone through.
Can't wait to play Ryza 3 tomorrow.
I bought and played ryza 1 and 2.. absolutely loved them, and was excited for ryza 3.. Then I bought atelier sophie 2, and saw that it was turn based! Atelier sophie is now my favorite atelier game. I'm.not a fan of all the frantic button mashing and switching characters to keep combos. I couldn't even enjoy the animated fights, since I'm constantly switching.. with Sophie, I got to enjoy every special Magix attack and specials.. it was like a new discovery! Now I'm hooked with the atelier turn based format.. plus, I don't like huge huge open worlds. It just to daunting thinking about have to explore every nook and cranny.. hmmmm. I'm gonna buy Trails into azure first. Ryza is on back back burner... great content as always David! 👏
I do not want to watch your review yet before I play the game myself, but I'm so glad you played it and reviewed it!! I'll be back once I've completed my own playthrough!! Thanks David!!
The game looks stunning visually, and fun to play. I'll definitely be buying this game. Thank you for the review, David. Great analysis!
Hi David! The only Atelier game I've played is Atelier Iris. Loved it. After watching you videos about the Ryza series, I may dip back into it.
Looks awsome! I played the first ryza game and it seems they've really improved it over the years. The first one had much smaller areas
The time limit's been gone for a long long time, in case you ever feel like going back to some of the older games. The last game with a time limit was Escha and Logy in 2013, and the last one with a harsh time limit was Ayesha in 2012. Starting from 2014's Atelier Shallie, none of the past 9 games have featured a time limit (minus Firis, but it's incredibly lenient and is more to add a bit of flavor to the story - and it only applies to the early game, once you get beyond a certain point the time limit is removed and you have infinite time).
Good review. I'm happy that you enjoyed Ryza 3 so much. I have a good feeling about the game... I've noticed since I was a little kid that I tend to enjoy the middle entry in trilogies the least, with the third often being my favorite.
I think the Atelier series is the best it's ever been, ever since it began its renaissance era with either Lulua or Ryza 1 (Lulua is where it upgraded to the current level of graphical prettiness, but the gameplay didn't undergo a dramatic change until Ryza). I think it's interesting that so many RPGs are undergoing huge changes in identity here in the 20s. Kuro no Kiseki, Dragon Quest 12, Atelier, Tales of Arise.
Idk, people keep complaining about the time limits in tbe older games, but the time limits arent even that harsh. Most of the times, you can complete the goals within the first half of the time limit. People who have a hard time with those either have bad time management or are too spoiled with modern games where the hero must save the world but the big bad villain is willing to wait 100 years for them.
@@zigrakudo4092 I have mixed feelings on the time limit. I disagree that the limits are never harsh or severe - some of them are pretty rough - but I do enjoy their presence. There's a sort of artistry in using speedrunning tactics to juggle as many things as possible and cram many accomplishments into a fairly small window.
The only time I fully consider the time limit to be a detriment is in the after-story of Rorona DX. One year to prepare for superbosses and dungeons where random encounters are harder than the final boss of the main storyline isn't a lot of time, and your punishment for failure is having to play through the whole game over again to get a second chance.
I think Firis found a good middle ground, with much of the game having a time limit but the rest being free. Time limits are nice; they help give Atelier games their own unique feeling, give definition to the story, and are fun in their own right. But it's also good to be given endless time to experiment and do whatever you want, especially since Atelier games have so much to do.
This game looks like pure fun, Gust has just been impressing me so much lately!
I still have a lot of catching up to do with this series, but I can't wait to get to this one
Game shouldve come with a free pair of binoculars, like wow those subtitles are absolutely tiny. Anyway, great review David I'm looking forward to playing this.
I love your Review. The game looks so fun and amazing! We will miss you, Ryza. =]
For me, when they don't include an english dub, I feel it's necessary for them to put an english translation for the battle quotes in a log somewhere. I dislike when I'm in a battle and I hear "Arigato Lent" and I have no idea what they're saying. I know that means thank you. This is an example
So what’s your thoughts on SAO games then? They have *no* English dub.
@@whitewolf3051 sword art online? I've never played those
@@chr1s415 Well, story and may not be for you, but that's besides the point. The point is a few other games also forgoes English dub.
@@whitewolf3051 I understand that, but my gripe is that these Japanese audio only games do not put a translation for the battle quotes anywhere in the game.
This review sold me on the game so fast, especially after hearing about how fast the game gets opens up. I love a good JRPG as much as any viewer of this channel, but the fact that it usually takes hours to get to explore the world has always been a pain in my side with any given game.
YEEESSS the skill tree system is back! Its about time they brought it back since ages ago. Last time i see that system was in the Mana Khemia 1
This game looks amazing. Can't wait for my copy to arrive.
This will be my first CE for an Atelier game! I almost bought the CE for Sophie 2 but went with the SE instead.
I’ve had a similar journey through the Atelier series. Loved Iris, but hated the time limits in the Arland trilogy, and couldn’t get into the Dusk trilogy for that reason. Looks like I definitely need to grab up the Ryza games, though :) You give me hope I’ll fall back in love with Atelier with Ryza!
Thank you for all your great videos! ❤
Maybe you'll enjoy shallie (third game in the dusk series), it has an amazing battle system and no time limits.
@@sebastianrodriguez5515 Good to know! :) I have Shallie, but haven't started it yet. I really wanted to like Ayesha, I love the character designs, but that time limit just makes me feel rushed and it's hard to enjoy it. I only played a little of Escha & Logy. I'll have to give Shallie a try ^___^ Thanks for letting me know!
Glad to see David's finally caught on with the modern ate liars
I typically play Japanese games in Japanese as a lot of them have poor English dubs, but the option should just exist. Also a decent dub can garner you a greater audience by being accessible to more players, a lot of people have issues with reading quickly enough to progress or may have a disability. Just give folks the option.
Dyslexia has to be the biggest argument against Sub Only.
@@ShadowWolfRising yep lol
I’m going to need to finish Ryza 1 before I can get this and 2. I’m only like 20 minutes into 1 and I’ve got to admit the battle system feels confusing, I haven’t had problems defeating enemies but I haven’t been able to unleash combos either. Once I’m able to finish other games on my queue and get back to it I’ll consider getting this.
I had played all the Atelier Iris games, and I loved them (the first one was the best), but haven´t played an Atelier since then. This one is looking good, liked the combat. Maybe someday I´ll give it a try.
I've heard a lot of great things about this game and series. It's been a while since I've played an Atelier game, but the Ryza games are definitely on the list.
With the final release I hope they make available to buy separately the locked dlc tied to exclusive digital versions.
Dude I TOTALLY forgot this game was coming out soon, and by soon I mean tomorrow?!? I'm so pumped
My history with the Atelier series is somewhat scattered. I get turned off because of the strict time limits. I played Mana Khemia 1 then Atelier Iris 1-2 (didn't enjoy 3). Then I played some of Ayesha and some of Escha & Logy. I played Sophie and some of Shallie. The latest game I played was Lydie & Suelle. I haven't played any of Ryza yet. This makes me want to get into the series and English subs don't really bother me too much
also for the older games with the time limit I usually just do a normal run first try and then with ng+ for some reason other stuff that didn't trigger events actually do the second run for some reason
The reviews are coming in and here I am just waiting for my physical limited edition which probably won't arrive until next week. lol
Thanks for the review.
I really liked the crafting specially in Atelier Sophie 1 and 2 (the only Atelier games I have played lol). I think Sophie 2 crafting is brilliant.
huh? did my comment get deleted, or is YT just acting all weird?
anyways i'll just quickly said i did before.
Love that Gust are making great improvements lately, i think they did a great job with Blue Reflections sequel which improved in pretty much every way compared to the first.
also i've not got to this series just yet, atm i'm busy with the Trails games. The Atlier games look right up my alley.
David your vids are awesome, man.
Can't wait to play it, but only after 1 finished Trails to Azure. They seem to have gone all out for it.
Yes I am getting this game. Love this series, you never said if it had a fulfilling ending? Since it’s the last one
Damn David that chest needs a new t-shirt. It's Gona explode😂
Love your content
I may try them out when I get more money. Good to see the game was fun.
I like that this game is more fluid than the previous one.. dev great improvement!
I aso agreed with you about the VA... i always big fan of english VA on the game (not anime tho)..
Im so glad they have a “catch up” video so you know the story leading up to now, and a help for what to do next in the game, I hate it when I can’t remember what I left off on doing and what I should I next.
This games looks fabulous, I have this on my “wishlist” for games to get and play
That's funny I absolutely love crafting in atelier games and for me it's the main draw to the point sometimes the cutscenes get in the way lol
genuinely wish they'd remaster Atelier Iris for PS4/5 and PC (preferably PC as that is my main platform, but if I needed to buy on PS5 I'd buy it on PS5). I only played the first two and they were pretty fun.
the Ryza games look fun and will likely pick them up as soon as my backlog becomes smaller or I just stop caring about the backlog. Probably a safer bet on the latter.
enjoyed the review though that's pretty par for the course here. I appreciate the highlights of the good and the bad and letting the audience decide how much it matters to them.
I’m trying to bum rush through Ryza 2 before it gets here tomorrow. I had a good number of these games, but The Secret series are the first games I’ve played to completion.
I remember playing Atelier Firis. First it was a sunny morning. Firis gathered twice. Abruptly it was night. I returned the game to GameStop the next day. That aside, really enjoying Ryza 3. Though I miss the battle theme from 2, as well as the city setting.
Waiting on my pre order copy for PS5 to come in the mail I'm near the end of part two and can't wait to start this one
This footage looks amazing! I started playing Ryza 1 recently when I heard the 3rd game was the last, and this looks like a huge improvement in graphics and gameplay! Can't wait to pick it up
Your muscles on point mah boi
I was so excited when this was announced and pre ordered it in November or December. The first game was my return to the series post Iris. I’m glad they made a quality game again.
That being said after playing one of the games from the era between Iris and Ryza id rather have the Japanese voice acting. I haven’t played all of them but after playing Sophie 1 I hope they never go back to English dubs. At least in Japanese it doesn’t sound cringy.
You know them getting English dubs don’t have to be a zero sum. It can have both voice options. As well as a better budget for the English dub
Well the games AFTER Mana Khemia 1 and 2 PS2 in 2006 and 2008 respectively I believe all of those had ONLY Japanese voices in it with the rest in English TEXT.
Heck none of the SWORD Art Online games used the English dub actors in them either.
Hopefully my copy of ryza 3 will come tomorow spent the last two weeks getting my physical copy's of past atelier games
I can understand the issue you have with the lack of Engflish voice acting, but given how long it takes for games to be localised, I'm, kinda glad we get the games so quick in the West now, even if they don't have English voices.
Especially the Atelier series which has been banging out releases left, right and center since the Switch launched! Sure, thats because many are ports, but its still a lot of Atelier games since 2018 (I count 15!)!
The series started back in Japan with Atelier Marie in 1997 PS1 while THAT game is getting a Remake like this one the voices in the Marie remake will NOT be in English.
Also while this game on this video I believe is the 21st game in the series IN English the actually total games in Japan are 25 of them
Here's the TOTAL LIST so far:
(A1) Atelier Marie: The Alchemist of Salburg
(A2) Atelier Elie: The Alchemist of Salburg 2
(A3) Atelier Lilie: The Alchemist of Salburg 3
(A4) Atelier Judie: The Alchemist of Gramnad
(A5) Atelier Viorate: The Alchemist of Gramnad 2
(A6) Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana
(A7) Atelier Iris 2: The Azoth of Destiny
(A8) Atelier Iris 3: Grand Phantasm
(A9) Mana Khemia: Alchemists of Al-Revis
(A10) Mana Khemia 2: Fall Of Alchemy
(A11) Atelier Rorona: The Alchemist of Arland
(A12) Atelier Totori: The Adventurer of Arland
(A13) Atelier Meruru: The Apprentice of Arland
(A14) Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of Dusk
(A15) Atelier Escha & Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky
(A16) Atelier Shallie: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea
(A17) Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book
(A18) Atelier Firis: The Alchemist and the Mysterious Journey
(A19) Atelier Lydie & Suelle: The Alchemists and the Mysterious Paintings
(A20) Atelier Lulua: The Scion of Arland
(A21) Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout
(A22) Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy
(A23) Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream
(A24) Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key
(A25) Atelier Marie Remake: The Alchemist of Salburg
The FIRST 5 games on the ABOVE LIST NEVER left Japan.
@@veghesther3204 Fully aware my friend, but I was talking specifically about those games released since the Switch came out in 2016, not since the series started.
At least 15 titles have come out since 2018 (including ports) with more to come. That's some churn, which goes a bit of the way to understanding why they don't have English voice acting. They're coming out faster than could be recorded, and if that's the price for actually getting the games quickly (as opposed to the couple of years between Japan and Western release of the Trails series, for example), then it's probably an acceptable compromise.
ps5 version ordered, great review David!
Man i love your biceps 🔥
These games used to have English voice acting. I miss that too. Some games I chose Japanese anyway like FF7R that fit a lot better with Japanese IMO but I usually want English if it is of good quality.
I might try this one but the first Ryza just never grabbed me. I played like....2/3rds of the way through but I mostly just found the characters and story boring. Doesn't help its all in Japanese now.
I get that it's "cozy" but it just wasn't my jam.
The additions to this one might speed up ny frustrations with how slow things felt for the first one.
Thanks for the review David!
I have the game pre-ordered so picking it up tomorrow..
Also preordered the game.
I would literally play the entire Ryza series if they just had voice acting. The earlier Aterlier games had voice acting, so I don't understand why they chose to remove it when its popularity is at its peak.
It is voice acted tho wtf
@@nicogalax I honestly forget there's voice acting at all when they remove the English voice acting. There's no reason to shell out an unfinished English localization.
@@Flareboxx Atelier english dubs are pretty cringey tho, Japanese voices are 100 times better
@@nicogalax Many people including myself would have to disagree with you on that. So much of Japanese acting is screaming. Happy screams, angry screams, doesn't matter. Screaming doesn't equate to acting. Also, I want to have the freedom to look away from the screen for a second without missing dialogue. Something you can't do if you don't understand the language.
Fantastic review! Amazon has delayed my order to middle of next week ☠️
Oh no! It’s worth the wait though!!
I was distracted several times for some reason so I'll have to watch again... 🤔🤔 Probably have to watch it thighve times to really get it.. 🤔🤔🤔
I'm right there with ya japanese culture is my favorite but I don't speak Japanese I speak English and I can't stand how the series went from eng dub back to Japanese dub but still love the series
Sadly the game has the same infinite loading screen bug on the Steam Deck like Sophie 2. Seems like nobody informed them about that, but it's neverless strange, because as far as i know the Steam Deck is already available in Japan.
Nice love it ❤
We're not all Japanese sub purists. Some of us just REALLY hate dubs. While I definitely agree it should have the option of both, unless they wanted to take another leaf out of Xenoblade's book and include English voice acting that didn't make me want to rip my ears off, I can't say I'm going to miss it here.
Would you say this is accessible for someone who has never played the first two games?
Totally with you on a preference for English voice acting
This might be the first atelier game I actually like! Def going to give it a shot. Is there any type of end/post game?
The only issue I see so far is the camera being super zoomed in for combat and only being able to control one character at a time
You can switch between all the characters during battle with the shoulder buttons :)
It needs the Depth of Field fixed on the PS5. Its so blurred, I thought my eyes had gone. Really spoiling the game for me not being able to see sharp graphics more than one foot away from me.
That is a bummer. I only play with english VA.
Jeez did ryza get thicker again XD
Dude where did you get your shirt?!
Salvation Army of all places! I picked it off the rack so fast it would have made your head spin! LOL
I'll get it on sale
REALLY smart devs would send you their game in beta so that you could give them constructive criticism and feedback before the game is final. I would if I made a game |-)
I’ve done that before for some indie devs on the steam!
@@davidvinc I believe it |-) We could just create "David's Law" where all major JRPGs have to have such a step in development lol
Wait, you have more than 1 party member? Why is there only 1 player shown outside of combat?
Please tell me they brought back Fii! haha
Can you not play with the guy with the abs?
I grew bored of two because of the material micromanagement and crafting. Would three keep be more entertained?
No more fan service, = no more uncensored gaming = no more buying for me. bye Gust.
Bye pedo
So is this better than Sophie 2?
Ah yes one of the advantages of understanding Japanese is that whether the game has English VA or not doesn't really matter. But then again in Ryza 3 they just said the same lines again and again in exploration.
Mana Khemia was all I've ever tried. Ryza looked good. And not just because of the thighs. But I've had better things to play and the finances and time do be limited, king. You said we don't need the first 2 to play this and even used the Xenoblade name. I will consider it.
I can't believe they're already on the third Ryza and I haven't even finished the first one. I like everything about the game but that crafting and fetching ingredients is brutal.
Im liking it, but as I have gotten older in age I feel like my brain has slowed down and the game is overwhelming me a bit. I feel lost in combat. I miss turn based. Not saying this system is bad it just isnt for me
i bought my friends modded PS Vita and it has like 6 or 7 Atelier games on it. i dont even know where to start @_@
I hated the memory segments and diary of the dungeons in the 2nd game
I don't have the time to even play the FIRST Ryza game and playing the 3rd one without the other 2 is NOT recommended.
Hate crafting in video games.
To quote my wife, "Damn!!! would ya look at the donk on that girl!"
And Ryza Anime recently just announce fyi😂😂😂😂
Yeah I know, I spoke about it in my last news video
Atelier Firis went open world 7 years ago and people hated it. Firis walked so Ryza 3 could run.
While I'm pumped for it, the release timing is terrible. I hope it gets picked up alongside people getting RE4 remake.
Is it me or did they made Ryza bigger again?
And that’s a bad thing?
Lent’s bigger too :) lol
That popping is such an eye sore
Reviewer:I couldn't get into the emphasis on Crafting
Me: dude that's like......atelier's Whole gimmick your playing an alchemist creating stuff is literally their job in most games if you don't like Crafting your gonna find this series difficult to enjoy
I really want to play this but 1 and 2 were ok, nothing amazing
... your poor t-shirt. One good sneeze and its done for.... and no phoenix down will save it.
Japanese voice actors are superior. Fite me, bitch! :)
Nah. I think every game nowadays should give us the option of either. I think Japanese tends to be better, between how committed the VAs are to their role, and the games tending to sync better with their mouth movements. But there are instances where I actually prefer dubs, like Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, or when I just don't feel like reading.
Thick thighs save lives!
While I'm not a huge fan of Ryza (due to the action combat), I'm happy that Ryza made the Atelier games more popular in the west.
I DID like Ryza 1, even if not as much as Sophie, Firis and Sophie 2. And I'm happy to see Ryza 3 was made with love and is not just a cash grab that aims to sell just because of the name.
her poor shorts are hanging on for dear life
I personally think its a good thing that it doesn't have English Voice Acting. English Voice Actors have the rights under the union to deny voicing lines, which makes dialogue get changed and I oppose the censorship of games. You're getting PAID to do a JOB. Everybody has stuff that they don't wanna do in their work. Whether it be for moral reasons, unsafe(ie. fixing power lines and such, which typically pay more for how dangerous the work is), hard work, or is just tedious and repetitive, and I think that whatever reason they have for refusing to voice the line isn't a good enough reason.
English Voice acting is a matter of resources (Time and Money) that a lot of Japanese companies don't really have, Party banter not being translated in a comfortable way is a drag for sure, even worse when they make absolutely no effort to translate it.🤡
