I might be wrong but I'd suspect a valve adjustment. Air cooled generators are kinda high maintenance pos from my experience and if you use them often they expire pretty quick. I use one to power a portable water pump for livestock troughs frequently if I get a whole year out of one before the rings are shot and completely burning oil I'm doing good.
