The first "Christians" lived as Jews ( they were called ebonites and considered as heretics by mainstream Judaism) until Paul came on the scene and basically told everyone enough with Judaism. Why? Because Paul hated being a Jew probably. Paul started massive conversion of pagan and this resulted in the rise of Christian population. The original Jewish Christians were considered heretic by mainstream Christianity and persecuted. The early Christians in Kerala were Jewish converts to Christianity later on after the arrival of Christian merchants from middle east they embraced mainstream Christian faith. Also, so what if the Gospels were written by original apostles? These texts were so heavily edited and censored by Church officials they probably aren't even the same texts.

Joseph was engaged to Mary at that time when Jesus was conceived and since God revealed to Joseph through a dream what has happened to Mary , he believed that and went and took Mary as his wife and lived with her. Now if you think bible is a cooked up story book, then you have the freedom to think so. You decide which one can be true. Or you can think both are cooked up stories also ! The freedom is yours. I believe in the story of Jesus given in the bible as there are historical proofs for many of the other incidences mentioned in the bible. All of the prophecies mentioned in the bible have come true over the years and hence bible is a trustworthy book. Some are prophecies for the end of the world and we christians are waiting to see those things to unfold ! Bible talks about the entire world seeing Jesus descending down from the sky above Jerusalem during His 2nd coming at the same instant . Now that bible portion was written 2000 years back and people would have laughed at that statement. How can some one sitting in Kochi see what is happening in Jersusalem ? Yes, now you know that it is possible as almost the entire world has smart phone in their hands and are connected to the internet 24 hrs and they all can see what is happening around the world at the same instant. Imagine when we have 5G or higher technology in 10 years time from now and what is waiting for us. Also consider the idea of a child getting born with out human intercourse or the egg and sperm coming together etc. Now science has advanced so much they are able to create human beings without the normal sexual activity with which we are familiar with. 100 years back people would not have believed that as a possibility. So do not ridicule what is written in the bible.
