Epic visuals do not a great movie make . I remember this when it was called Cloud Atlas and noone's talking about that movie 2 weeks after it came out.
It seems a have a fleeting grasp of Mr. Coppola's intent. A cinematic presentation of civilization in mortal peril and a prophet's efforts to save it. That's my interpretation of the trailer. I'm eager to see it.

Ford Coppola is a MASTER film maker. Not a “movie” maker or a franchise fanboy rehashing the same old garbage over and over….but a film maker and true storyteller. The man made the fkin Godfather, Dracula and Apocalypse Now FFS!! I’ll be seeing this no matter where or when. Thank you, that is all.
He came up with the concept in 1977, and initially started development in 1983 until it was shelved. Coppola began work on it again in 2019 and self-funded the $120 million budget. This one is definitely a pet project.
Yeah because they cause trippy visual effects for some people (like me). I don’t like looking at red/(any form of blue) when they are together or one atop the other. It creates a 3D effect sorta like a Magic Eye picture. And gives me a headache.
He still hasn’t found a distributor in America and I suspect we will need a different cut since the current version has a part where the screen interacts with a live in theatre actor. It sounds wild.
Many many many more questions than I had before I watched it. And I had an eff lot of questions! I think I already paid for my ticket by watching .1 seconds of commercials. (I pray otherwise)
Its neither - Set in modern-day America, Megalopolis will have similarities with Roman epic films, this time told with a focus on America. According to Coppola, the story will be based on The second Catiline Conspiracy, a feud between Roman senator Lucius Sergius Catilina and Marcus Tullius Cicero.
I am both super-excited and really looking forward to seeing "Megalopolis", while at the same dreading it may actually be the beautiful but sloppily-made ego trip & last hurrah for Coppola that some reviews are portraying it to be. I hope to love it and I truly hope that Coppola can earn back his personal fortune that he has invested into it
uh............got some really bad news for you. Not a single distributor picked this thing up. You'll likely only ever see this film on a streaming service and it will most likely be Netflix
This is my most anticipated film of all time. Been reading about his vision for this single piece of art for nearly 40 years. Should be much better than Jack.
From Wikipedia “An accident destroys a decaying New York City-like metropolis. Cesar Catilina, an idealist architect with the power to control time, aims to rebuild the city as a sustainable utopia, but is opposed by corrupt mayor Franklyn Cicero, who remains committed to a regressive status quo. Torn between them is Franklyn's socialite daughter, Julia, who, tired of the influence she inherited, searches for her life's meaning.”
this film seems to be about something happens involving statues coming to life, bombs dropping, then people seem to react with serious concern, then people go to a circus and in the end all is good again homies !
She's been growing up! It's nice to see her listed with all of her costars. Can't wait to see what size role she has. Can't be very big, hope it's not fleeting.
Can it be? Is it even still possible? Did someone make an ORIGINAL movie? 🤯🤣 Thank you Mr. Ford Coppola for resurrecting cinema from the monotonous grave of regurgitated toilet-bile that it has spiralled into. I'll be watching this.

Grace Vanderwaal. If the name sounds a bit familiar - she won America's Got Talent at age 12, singing only original songs with her ukulele. She's been in two movies, in the lead role. Stargirl and Hollywood Stargirl. They were teen movies in which the character was similar to herself. (Not normal teen movies. Kinda quiet and contemplative.) I can't wait to see her in this new role where she'll get to sink her teeth into a role more. She spent her teenage years touring and going to school - she considers herself a singer, not an actor, but sometimes people call her up and offer her a role. She didn't audition for Stargirl and afaik she didn't audition for Megalopolis. Don't worry, she's not a teenager anymore - by a couple of months.
