Can you stain the brick after white washing it?

I really like lime-wash on stones and brick, but it didn’t do it for me on this project.
I think it would have looked better if it had been applied more thinly and then more evenly distressed.

Loved the natural cosy warmth of original brick.
SO tired of everything painted white or grey!!!

Not liking how it turned out. Didn’t like the original brick either. I would have chosen something a little more modern/contemporary.
