Super cool upload - thanks a bunch! Gwilym is one of the brightest lights of British jazz, such a considered player and a phenomenal, huge talent. The full package. Basically anything he's ever done is pure gold. A simply wonderful musician! Fully deserving of a spot with Pat.

Hey Gwilym. I was one of tbhe folks that wrotew once a comment that went like «bro hes' not lyleb blablabla..». Just weanted to appologize. We're all dicks. Insecure beings. Not wanting the new. You are an incredible pianist.

No one is going to take Lyle's place............ever. But if there ever was a perfect fit in on piano in Pat's group it IS GWILYM.

I saw him play with Metheny ten minutes from my house. Another excellent show. I do not take it for granted that I've been able to see Metheny 11 times in Northern California.

I was at the show at the Barbican in London and it was a great gig. I saw Gwilym twice with Pat and he was awesome..

When it was announced that Gwilym Simcock was going to be playing with Pat Metheny as part of his new quartet, i knew it was inevitable that the two would eventually cross paths especially as Simcock has already played with PMG bassist Steve Rodby in Impossible Gentlemen which were very influenced by Pat's music. I had very high expectations from these two and they more than delivered, Simcock has proven to be a great foil for Metheny and they musically match up very well especially as he had to follow other pianists who came before him but I thought he filled their shoes very nicely. I saw the Pat Metheny quartet back in 2017 when they played in London and i thought Simcock's piano playing was one of the highlights of the show. Fantastic show and great to hear from the best one pianists in the world.

I would love to hear all of this interview from Gwilym, speaking about his own playing, music and compositions as well as his work with Pat, I love From this Place, it is one of my favourite albums, the tunes, the orchestrations, it is a shame because as far as I know none of the music has been played live, one of Pat's best albums. I can not imagine what it would be like to know all the things Gwilym knows about music, improvising, composition, orchestration and playing the Piano at that level! Gwilym is perfect for Pat's music. Also pointless to compare to any other Pianist, this is the highest level of Jazz, Lyle is, and was unique, but Lyle had is own life and many interests out in LA and wanted to focus his mind on that, it is so sad that Lyle has gone, but now I would like Pat to do a follow up record to From this Place with Gwilym, Linda and Antonio and to hear the music live, it is a great band. Cheers, Daniel.

@@SamoSalamonMusic Cheers Samo, will listen later, I have seen Gwilym play a lot in all sorts of settings with Acoustic Triangle, heard is own band in a small local Theatre near where I live years ago, heard him in a lovely small Church just off Regent's park, was just to the left of him behind the Piano, could see both hands all the time, that was unreal to watch and hear! Spoke to him briefly outside Ronnie's when Pat played 8 shows in 4 days, I went to 2 in a row, over 2 days, I learnt a huge amount, how awesome both gigs were, but very similar and almost identical set, showed me how Pat works, I was a few feet away from Antonio, all arms and legs! Nuts! Up close that Roland GR300 just soars, 8va, dog whistle!! So much fun....Side Eye project is great fun as well! All the best Samo!
